I still wonder if they could have stowed away on a private boat or larger ship, does anyone know if any water sources are around large enough for large private boats or cargo type ships?

Link to some details about the Port at Churchill. Other than Churchill, they are SooL in Hudson Bay. If escape & evasion via ship was in their plan, they planned poorly.

Port of Churchill - Wikipedia

Port operations[edit]
The port is iced in for much of the year and is accessible only between late July and early November.[1] For example, in 2010 the shipping season was July 28 to November 2.[7] Shallow waters also restrict its development as an ocean port. Despite these restrictions the port remains useful for shipping grain and other bulk cargos because shipping by rail costs several times as much, per ton, as shipping by sea.

Good morning and bonjour all,

Interesting article from the CBC this morning where they’ve reached out to psychologists discussing this particular ‘brand’ of criminal behaviour.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/bc-killing-suspects-criminal-psychologists-1.5225458

“Lee, who has studied mass killers, said killing sprees often begin as a ‘fun, adventurous prelude before either a suicide pact or a shootout with law enforcement.

‘This killing spree is conceptualized as a final act of retribution against a world that you believe has wronged you in some way.’

Usually when two or more people go on a killing spree together, one tends to be the leader, the psychologists said. Hickey expects McLeod and Schmegelsky to stay together, at least as long as they are in the bush and dependent on each other for survival.

When people are on the run, however, the stress can cause those bonds to fray, Lee said

‘You can see instances where the person who is going along with it suddenly feels way in over their head and realizes that they didn't sign up for this," he said. "And that's the best opportunity, in a way, for this to end peacefully without any more bloodshed.’

Hickey suspects both men had troubled childhoods, which feeds into their violent behaviour”
Once again, pretty much matches discussions WSers have had about these two.

And what of Leonard Dyck, Lucas Fowler, and Chynna Deese? They had happiness and the joy of being loved. Look at all of us coming together to witness them and in WS credo to honour the victims. These folks sadly lost their lives and I admire what little I know of them.

We should collect articles about the upcoming celebrations of their lives.

lucas was shot in the gut which is close to instant death if you can't get help and Chynna was shot through the jaw through the side of her face

not confirmed but i gleaned this from interviews the road worker did the shot to Chynna's face is probably why they can't have an open casket but it might be possible for lucas

I didn't hear either of those things. When he was talking to the reporter at the side of the road about Lucas, he moved to his hand to the side in the area of the hip to indicate where he had been shot and said it was a small hole. His hand was off camera but was definitely not in the stomach area.

As for Chynna, he said words to the effect, "I don't know how someone could do that and live with himself".

Good morning, all.

I have a feeling something will happen today...a strange symmetry at work perhaps.

Two weeks ago today, the pair left Port Alberni.

One week ago today their truck was found on fire and they were apparently fleeing eastwards.

We’ll see.

As many have pointed out, they seem to be on this ‘fantasy’ run across the country. The murders, the burning cars, and evading law enforcement are all a part of this Bandlands-esque spree. This seems to be entirely part of the game.

The concept of the alpha/beta dynamic has also been referenced. While one reach a point where they’re tired and simply want it all to be over? What will that look like?

What I can’t wrap my head around is HOW LD, LF, and CD, ended up being the victims? When you imagine spree killer pairs like Bonnie and Clyde or Charles Starkweather and Caril Anne Fugate, they seemed to rob and kill anyone who got in their way. If this were the case here, I imagine the body count would be much higher.

MOO. Excuse the rambling folks, I’m just trying to wrap my head around it all.

So they've been flown out of Gillam:

"Up to 20 armed Canadian police have also been spotted boarding a light aircraft and flown out of Gillam Airport in a westerly direction with sniper rifle cases and several armoured bulletproof shields."

Where are they going and why?

Back to their base. We assume new arrivals are continuing the search.

Onanole, Manitoba... what can any locals tell me about this place. is this a gateway to Winnipeg by any chance ?

IIRC, that’s a town near Clear Lake, which is within a national park, and is stunningly beautiful, but also at least a few hours from Winnipeg. It’s also very busy in the summers and has a decent number of Fed employees, including park rangers, who would be on the lookout I imagine.

very interesting, i shall google this a bit more thank you

Omanole is an 11.5 hour drive from Gillam. What are the chances this could be related? RCMP seem certain the pair haven't left the Gillam area

can't say i know what your talking about in relation to this case. just saw it on a map and wondering what this place was about and if it was a more major town close by to Gillam

Here is a screengrab from Gray's video. If you want to watch later, it's at about 4:30

Thank you! I'll try and watch the video later, but just looking at the screencap posted I don't see how anyone can say with any degree of certainty that a blurred out body is posed in a Nazi salute, JMO.

Yes, shifts will be coming and going throughout the search until it ends, including the dogs. They don't work around the clock. :)

jmo

i thought they would have worked in shifts and stayed somewhere local but i guess there are labor rules and they have to go home and have people refresh them at some point

They aren't in a Nazi salute. Gray has the original, unblurred image and described it and did an animation. The right arms are out to the side, not straight up.
