I am wondering why they didn't give up... they had survived the bears, the mosquitos, the flies, the starvation. It all hardly seems planned to me, the only thing I have gleaned is they know how to move very fast wherever they are going, and they have a lot of energy. It is cold out there at night, around 45 degrees with no coats and no cover or fire. Any normal human would cave, there are no real roads, maybe trails out there, it looks bleak for survival according to all accounts.

Keep an eye on Oz news feeds about to approach the evening news rush for them.

For those wanting to see the footage that was shot above the house see 7 News Sydney Twitter account.

Just to note, that Australian station is the only news outlet that has displayed that video and it has not been verified by anyone. It appears that it may be unrelated, especially since it suggests that an arrest was made and there clearly hasn’t been one.

Second degree murder is precisely what it is. Second degree murder. A very serious felony. But it's not first degree murder.

OTOH, I do believe that when combined with auto theft, it might become 1st degree. Seems very likely. But people shouldn't be saying they were charged with 3 murders, when they were not.

If they had not yet committed a crime (no earlier charges yet), then they weren't seeking a "getaway" car. They were seeking a car. They had crashed theirs and burned it. After they kill Prof Dyck they are definitely needing a getaway. If they killed Prof Dyck in order to steal his car, then I think that charge will go to 1st degree.

Now, reading between the lines, we can all see why RCMP think they may very well have committed earlier crimes, but right now, they are merely suspects/POI's in those crimes, there are no warrants (that I know of) and they have not been charged. Which is interesting. That's why we have been talking so much about what sort of evidence could link them to the earlier crimes.

There's every reason for them to surrender peacefully and work this out as best they can...
I think they laid the charges in the murder of LD to get a Canada-wide warrant issued: RCMP in British Columbia - Charges laid in connection with Dease Lake homicide investigation as the search continues for the two suspects

Do we know they planned anything?
Do we know they are disgruntled?
Do we know they hate the world?

The video games - what teen doesn’t play video games? Have you played any of the games they’ve mentioned? For one there’s very few games out there for teen boys that do not involve killing or survival themes. (They stop playing the Dora and Bob the Builder games long before teenage years). Now if they played GTA5 I could maybe agree that they were training for something lol. Their gaming style is nothing shocking to me, but then again I like playing video games and have been shocked at what goes on for “smack talk”, but then I’ve also talked to those same people and they are different when not online. As for the few stories from the classmates. I’m willing to bet Kam and Bryer were bullied because they were quiet and “didn’t fit in”. What better way to get other teens picking on you to leave you alone than to scare them badly enough that they avoid you. The hitler armband, a lot of times it’s a thing that’s used by teens as shock value and a way to try and prove independence. I find it curious that police searched their houses and as of yet have said nothing else about their armed and dangerous suspects. I believe if they had of found links to neonazi groups they would have said.
Yes, I recall when Prince Harry was wearing a Nazi arm band at a party and the flack he got for doing so. It meant nothing.

They’re flying by the seat of their pants right now.

That’s a huge disadvantage, as it leads to mistakes.

They’ve already made their biggest one today.

Is the Bear Clan armed?

From CBC:
To answer your question it looks like they are 'armed' with flashlights as their mission is to patrol as 'ambassadors'. The article explains that this is the groups first trip to the North and so they are not sure exactly what to expect. The photo below is the Founder of the Bear Claw Clan.

James Favel, a founder of the Bear Clan Patrol, shines his flashlight on a boarded-up garage in Winnipeg. Six patrol members have been deployed to Northern Manitoba to aid the residents of three First Nations. (Jill Coubrough/CBC)
Favel said his group was responding to a request issued Friday by Sheldon Kent, acting grand chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs

"The [acting] grand chief called yesterday to ask if we could send some teams to provide security for some of the First Nations that don't have RCMP service," Favel said.

The assembly, which represents 62 First Nations, said in a news release Friday that it was developing a safety strategy for northern First Nation communities.

Everybody is kind of on high alert right now, and my teams are going to be exactly the same, but we're trying to stay positive.— James Favel, Bear Clan Patrol
"We are very concerned for the safety of the people in our northern communities," Kent said in the release. "The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs [AMC] wants to ensure that our people are vigilant and exercise caution until these fugitives are apprehended.

"We are fully co-operating with the RCMP's efforts to bring these young men into custody, and AMC is working on a strategy to help keep our families safe."

The community-based solution is intended to fill a gap in crime prevention and police coverage in the area by providing a sense of safety, solidarity and belonging to the communities they serve, the release states.

Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, are wanted in connection with the deaths of two tourists shot near Liard Hot Springs, B.C. Police have also charged them with second-degree murder in the death of Leonard Dyck, a professor found dead near Dease Lake, B.C..

The two are believed to be armed and dangerous, police warn.

This is the first time we're doing something like this, so we're not quite sure what it's going to be like."— James Favel
The patrol group will be working in co-ordination with the assembly, the First Nations and the authorities, Favel said. If the suspects are found or contact is made, he said, the safety of communities will be top priority: "It will just be about alerting the community to their presence and taking the appropriate steps to make sure everyone is safe."

The acting grand chief reminded northern residents in the isolated communities to avoid putting themselves at risk.

"Keep your doors locked and your kids close," Kent said.

Anyone with information about these fugitives should call 911 or contact RCMP immediately.

I've got to try to go to bed. In the event this all is over by morning, it's been really nice following this with you all over the past week. Big shout out to the mod team who have done such an awesome job keeping this civil and on topic it can't have been easy considering how active these threads have been

"acting grand chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs" is not the RCMP
Really not sure how you are getting that.
They are not even close and generally speaking RCMP have a pretty tense relationship with most FN organizations.
Exactly re the Grand Chief.
Not all FNs. Many FNs are happy for the support due to thefts, meth and crack use etc on the reserves. Conversely, other reserves don’t like the interference and prefer to handle their problems themselves.

Literally the same link you posted as "proof" the bear clan was invited by RCMP actually says the opposite.

I know this site has a policy about rumors, what about wildly misrepresenting easily accessible facts

Not sure what you were referring to about people hating on the RCMP but regardless of how you feel about the status of their reputation, can we stick to crediting them with things they've actually done

I agree. They must be having quite the discussion about what to do, and if they aren’t in a tent the weather and rain tonight are a real problem.

I agree, they didn't seem to have taken much at all from their truck and have only been shown wearing the same clothes for over a week now.
I don’t think they have any elaborate camp set up either. It was just a theory on why Kam is still in just a tshirt. But maybe he only has the clothes on his back left. I keep coming back to the idea that they are panicking and not following any type of plan.

Now.. I took what I saw as them having a sort of soft summer high top boot -ish footwear.. It didn't look like trekking stuff, long distance trekking, didn't look waterproof, I don't know . I'll go and try and see it on one of the big screens here at work, . ( not the usual manner of skiving off, but permissible , depending on the subject. ) ..

Okay so, KM looks like he is wearing black Dunlop Vollies or something (high top, black sneaker) - the toes look like rubber and the darker area looks like black canvas. I am sure I spy a lace or silver branding also at one stage. And BS still looks like a boot to me due to the rigidity of the front when he walks... perhaps a steel-capped boot?

Side note: I'd love to know what KM was saying to BS on the way out or vice versa. KM nods his head in acknowledgement too.
