Understandably so, but a charge means absolutely nothing - it’s the conviction that counts. Meaning the evidence must prove without reasonable doubt- I am afraid they simply won’t have that IMO.
What they do have are two cocky teenagers who wish to glamorize warfare and utter threats to make themselves appear larger than they have been made to feel by their peers and families.
Again, IMO to play devils advocate and hopefully theorize this now defunct thread and return it to the concept of sleuthing.
The only thing police can do now is go back to the last known location of the suspects - the burned Rav4 - and start again. They can search the suspects' homes again, revisit their digital footprint, analyze what they did so far.
For example, their vehicle was pointing South at the double murder, but they drove North. The truck was 50 km South of Dease Lake, the murder victim was 2 km South of the burned truck. Did they murder Dr. Leonard Dyck, take his vehicle, drive both vehicles 2 km North of the body to burn the truck, and then drive South and East to Alberta? One thing we know is that they had a second transportation option before the destroyed the first.
I'm wondering if they do something with their vehicles that suggests one thing, and then they do the opposite. They left their vehicle NE of Gillam, suggesting that they are heading that direction, but maybe they had another ride lined up: the train heading South.
If they went South, it's unlikely they would head West (back home). That leaves East to Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Provinces. They would need a vehicle, and they would take backroads. Gas stations would be avoided. Ontario cottage country would be busy this time of year, but some are probably vacant.
