Top stories of 2020: Curtis Sagmoen convicted twice in 2020, no additional jail time - Vernon News
Dec 26, 2020 / 4:00 am |

Today's story: No. 6 Curtis Wayne Sagmoen

In February, Sagmoen was found guilty of of assault causing bodily harm in an attack on a sex trade who he ran over with an ATV in 2017. In December 2019, Sagmoen was convicted of disguising his face with intent to commit an indictable offence and using a firearm during an offence.

But in October, RCMP were once again at the Sagmoen property when a member of the public called police about “suspicious activity” at the farm located near Silver Creek.

The incident prompted police to issue a public warning to workers involved in the sex trade to not respond to any requests for their services and to not engage in any activity in the Salmon River Road area.

Then, in December, Sagmoen faced a new criminal charge. He is charged with assaulting a peace officer in an Oct. 29 incident in the Spallumcheen area. The charge was sworn by prosecutors on Dec. 16. ...is expected in Vernon court Jan. 7 to consult legal counsel.

This man is so so dangerous, I can't believe this poor girl was found on his property nearly FOUR YEARS AGO and nothing has happened in the case yet. All MOO but I have no doubt that if you investigate the property further, you'll find more. It's probably been brought up before but I can see this guy being a modern Robert Pickton  Sadly, these types of guys know that choosing Indigenous women/drug users as victims will attract much less attention from LE, and as we've seen...they get away with it, for a long time.

Sagmoen is ordered to reside at his family property on Salmon River Road as per his probation and has a 10-year weapons ban.

The 10-hectare family farm became the subject of an extensive police search Oct. 19, 2017, and the remains of missing 18-year-old Traci Genereaux were found.

Although her death was deemed suspicious, no charges have been laid.

At the time five women – Caitlin Potts, Ashley Simpson, Deanna Wertz, Genereaux and Nicole Bell – were missing from the North Okanagan area.

For *advertiser censored** sake!!
This guy is a menace to society, as he has proven multiple times, yet he is out on probation??

Sagmoen’s release came days after his charge of assaulting a female police officer was stayed by the Crown on April 26. That same day, he was charged with three counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was then charged with five more counts of breaching probation on April 28.

Sagmoen has been in and out of court repeatedly over crimes of violence against sex trade workers.

On Dec. 20, 2019, he was found guilty of wearing a disguise and threatening a sex trade worker with a shotgun. He was given time served and 36 months probation.

Two months later, Sagmoen was again found guilty on an assault charge involving a different woman in the industry. In this case, Sagmoen had caused the woman bodily harm by running over her with an ATV at the Salmon River Road property where he resided.

The justice system in Canada is so f'ed up. Curtis would probably have to slit someone's throat right in front of RCMP to get suitably charged  I understand that LE have the "burden of proof" but....come on!

Ughhh why is he still out walking around geez our Canadian system sucks ,it's all catch and release jmoo
