Cannot find a pic of the suspect so far, it would be interesting to see if he is associated with any other crimes, particularly towards females.
The victim in this case is very beautiful and young looking, but still- at 50 years old, one might expect the 21 year old perp to target someone in his age group.
Mommy issues and/or, he is inherently violent ?
imo, speculation.

Kimberley Black was assaulted while jogging in Whitby on the evening of July 28
''Durham Regional Police said officers located her around 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday near a creek southeast of of Taunton Rd. E. and Anderson St. after she was reported missing the night before after going for a walk in the area.''

''McBride described Black as an advocate for women’s personal development and growth and explained she is a graduate student completing a MA in Education and founder of Intro by Videos, which helps clients seeking employment develop video communication skills.''

''Anyone with information can contact Durham Regional Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca.''
just horrifying - women cannot jog or walk alone these days...
IMO

Arrest made after brutal attack of Whitby woman; victim remains in critical condition
''DRPS Police Chief Paul Martin called the investigation a “Herculean effort” by investigators given the random nature of the attack.

“Generally speaking you find that there is some sort of connection between the victim and the suspect or the accused and in this case there wasn’t that we can determine at this point in time,” said Martin. “In this case we had a lot of evidence… whether it was video, witness statements, those types of things that help us lead to the invidual and helped us identify who he was and where he is from.”

Martin described the arrest in this case quick considering the attack was random.

“I would say it [the arrest] was very quick,” Martin said. “We were building up information and trying to release as much as we could at the time, but this was put together very quickly.”

Doiron-Francis was arrested in Ottawa Thursday night. Police say he was not known to police prior to his arrest. He was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with new information about the investigation can call Detective Gill Lock of the Major Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext 5418 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).''

''WHITBY – Police are investigating a donation made to the victim of a horrific assault as the name of the person who made donation is the same as the individual now facing charges.

Nearly a week ago, Anthony Doiron-Francis donated $300 on the page of the woman who was the victim of a brutal attack late July in Whitby. On the page he wrote: “This is horrible what happened ! I pray she makes a full recovery!”

''Durham Regional Police spokesperson George Tudos said police are aware of the donation in Francis' name and are investigating it.''

''There is now a court-ordered publication ban that prevents us from publishing any information that would identify the victim.''

''On Aug. 14, following news of the arrest, the victim’s father said he was thankful “to the police department and the neighbourhood.”

But he added, “the shame of it is, that individual (the suspect) is the same age as my daughter’s son. It’s terrible.”

He must have some remorse. Too bad it came too late for that poor lady he attacked.

Don’t be fooled, if he had remorse he’d have turned himself in immediately. Looks to me more like a phoney ploy, pretending to be a concerned, nice guy. It’s quite common for perps to act sympathetic towards the plight of their victims, a sham, a ruse so nobody suspects they’re indeed responsible. Disgusting IMO.

Yes, this was no display of remorse. Police released a video of him on Aug 4th and he made the donation on or about the 8th of August. An attempt to look 'innocent' if you ask me...and a pretty dumb one at that.
Separate from all the regular reasons why an alleged perp donated to the fund, for a young guy, especially during the pandemic economic downturn, $300 is a fair bit of change.
Did somebody help him, perhaps in Ottawa?
Why no pics of him, is he somehow protected?
random speculation, imo.

He looks older than 21, wondering if he grew up in Ottawa and if not, where did he grow up prior to that, because it seems hard to believe that this brutal attack was (allegedly) his first rodeo, imo, speculation, imo.

Yes I agree, he does look older. I think his weight, the premature hair loss and the beard give the impression he’s beyond what a typical 21 year old should look like but that’s often based on our own paradigms. Some 16 year olds could pass for adults, others who are 25 look they ought to still be in high school. An age of a person is really difficult to accurately guess.

Glad he's off the street. As a Canadian, I assure you, that even if he is convicted, he certainly won't be locked up near long enough. Despite the violence exhibited. Sigh.

Also, if he is not working during Covid-19, our government is and has been providing 2000.00 bucks a month to any individual not working as part of their mitigation plan to ensure all are looked after during the pandemic.
