Car Explosion - Rainbow Bridge, Niagara Falls

Just crossed my mind....tomorrow is Thanksgiving.
Could there have been a plot to target this important US date? Tomorrow also is the Macy's parade, which thousands will attend.
just a thought....IF this was a potential terrorism situation.

Car was on a local road on US side, accelerated to a high rate of speed, sped through the checkpoint and crashed in that secondary search area.

Sounds like an unprobable scenario. Car is going 100 miles over grass etc. (No video exists yet of the vehicle going through town at 100 mph)
Happens to fly in the air and lands right at CBP tollbooth and explodes. Minimal damage to CBP booth considering the horrific explosion and crash.

What are the odds??

Well something happened around the same time of day on Nov 22, 60 years.
It gave rise to many conspiracy theories.
Fortunately, I think this will be solved within a few days.

I immediately thought about this. There was a report on last night's NBC evening news about all of the security measures that are being taken to keep parade-goers safe. That said, if someone or some group seeks to cause damage, destruction, and/death, they would fine a way to do just that. JMO

I was supposed to cross the Bridge today with a friend for a Shopping Trip. We always cross at the Rainbow Bridge. We cancelled last minute.

Well, who are they and what was their point?

I actually have to drive to the Falls tonight for work. I’m sure it will be a mess.

So sad that these occurrences keep happening.

IF so, and IF a terrorism incident, did they cross into CA from US earlier in order to secure materials before crossing back into the US??

Who knows. it's so weird. Maybe they were here with explosives. They likely couldn't get into Canada with them. So, they did this weird thing....and had to stage it a CBP. (An exploding car elsewhere likely wouldn't attract the same type of attention) Who knows???

A suitcase was found near the car involved in the explosion at the Rainbow Bridge but did not contain any explosives, the New York Times reports a law enforcement official saying.

“A law enforcement official briefed on the incident said investigators believed the explosion resulted from the impact of the collision. The car went airborne and struck a cement pillar, according to the official,” the New York Times reported.

"Authorities have identified the registered owner of the vehicle involved in the incident on the Rainbow Bridge, law enforcement sources tell CNN.

The car came from the US side and was traveling toward Canada, according to a law enforcement source and another source briefed on the investigation.

Law enforcement officials have conducted a video canvass of the surrounding area in the hours since the incident occurred and found the car appears to have been at a nearby New York casino before the incident. This is one reason officials are urging caution in labeling the explosion as an attempted terrorist attack, the law enforcement source said."

Very curious to hear more, but coupled with no evidence of explosives in the vehicle, this does not seem to match with terrorism or a planned explosion.

There is a pretty long lead-in to the Rainbow Bridge, due to the amount of cars that wait to cross the bridge in summer. A car could definitely pick up speed as it approached the bridge, if it wanted to and there weren't loads of cars waiting to cross the bridge.

(This Aussie worked as a tour guide in NF for a good handful of years.)
