Yes.

Hmmm - we've seen a lot of really questionable reports from the shrinks so far and if these are the two that the defense tried to get to testify just before the trial that was considered too prejudicial, then I'll be curious about what OCA told the doctors, but if they were pro-defense - I won't believe a word of their evaluation of her.

ITA, and George does NOTHING without Cindy's approval. I would think she and Casey would have wanted him there. I just cannot see him bullying his way into a delivery room to stare at Casey's stuff while she gives birth. That is just ridiculous. I think this was said to make him look bad. I don't like him, but I don't believe this for a second about him either.

Yes, I agree as far as George being expected to be there. Having a shrink say something is so doesn't make it so - at all.
Just commenting that I don't think CA "told" him to go and testify in front of the Grand Jury.....
And I don't like him either but hardly consider him "evil".

Well, he does have his moments, I will agree with that. But they are moments, and then he goes back to doing what Cindy and Casey want. He has no cojones to stand on his own and make it in this world without them, most of all Cindy. So many times I thought I he should get away from her...and he never has...he must like being ordered around or something.

Casey Anthony wanted treatment and a book deal, forensic psychiatrist says

A well-known forensic psychiatrist who has authored a new book on Casey Anthony says he was approached by third parties to work on a for-profit book with Casey Anthony, but declined the deal.

Casey Anthony wanted treatment and a book deal, forensic psychiatrist says. Dr. Keith Ablow instead said he offered to treat Casey Anthony for free and in private, but his offer was turned down.

The link isn't working.

Interesting, because none of the links to this bit at OS are working now. They sent me a text but I'm just getting around to checking it out....and...poof! All gone.

From everyone's posts, I'm assuming this isn't really a bombshell. Casey wanted a book deal. Surprise, surprise. So this article was based on a statement by Albow? :banghead:

Just catching up tis morning, haven't been on this thread for a while. The "for hire" experts usually write opinions favorable to the side who hired them. If it is not what the defense is looking for, they find another expert who will give them what they want.
The purpose of the evaluation determines the type of report. If the eval was to determine whether someone is competent to stand trial or testify, that is different from determining diagnosis. Attorneys wrote wrote the criteria for determining legal competence, not psychologists.
I think there was so very fine word play around things said after she was examined. There is no diagnosis where every clinical feature must be met. There is also no diagnosis of sociopath.
However, a person who has no remorse and who repeatedly violates the rights of others by stealing, etc. could be diagnosed antisocial personality disorder. Prisons are full of them.

I meant to say that the legal standard for not competant to stand trial was written by a committe of attorneys.

The only believable part of this whole story is 'Casey Anthony .... wanted a book deal'.

I so agree w/you! The treatment part was just a prop, sort of like casey's "work purse" was a prop when she wanted her parents to believe that she actually had a job to go to. The treatment part of the plan would have been just to try to trick the general public into thinking that casey was actually trying to change her ways and get better. Those of us that know this case inside and out know better and will never fall for this sort of tomfoolery.

No kidding. And it makes me wonder if he's saying this is because maybe he wrote the book to try and entice Casey back to him? I mean, he's basically absolving her of any responsibility of what happened to Caylee in that book of his. I'm kind of surprised she hasn't been calling him for "therapy". He's just her kind of therapist! Oh, it's not your fault, it's okay, *many pats on her back*.

I dunno Aedrys, I think he's just looking for more PR....once OCA is his patient, I don't think he would be able to blab about her anymore...:innocent:
And I doubt he wants to share any profit he makes from his book either.

From the link:

But the offer from the other side involved treatment with a "for-profit project," Ablow said.

"I'm not interested in a for-profit project disguised as help," he added. "I was not allowed an a la carte menu so I decided not to dine at the restaurant."

If this statement wasn't so ridiculous it might be funny. This tells us what? He's only interested in his own profit? Cause I haven't heard that he's donating his proceeds to anyone!

The incompetency to stand trial standard seems way to brief to be written by a committee of attorneys lol I know the basis for the standard is the constitution with mental understanding added later. It's interesting that mental competency was originally determined by workers, not professional physicians or lawyers, in a mental institution! Useless trivia ;)
