Could she have been telling LA where to PUT the body rather than where to find it? I know, another thread - I'll go back to lurking...

don't go back to lurking! :)

I honestly do NOT think that Lee would have moved that body. After studying his reactions, questions and interviews early on, he appears to me to be trying to find help his sister, but at the same time, trying to find the
truth.
I am on the mindset now that she may have been pointing him in the direction to find Caylee because she was scared of never being released without a body. She is that dumb. She doesn't think ahead.

I think maybe she spoke in code so that she could deny that she was pointing him there when the body was found.

ITA!
Look at her facial reaction when cindy tells her that caylee is going to be on the cover of People Magazine. She is clearly blown away for a moment. IMO

.........and conversely, look at her face during her "82 shirt" perp walk in the OSCO jail waiting room. She comes through the doors in handcuffs and looks up.......she sees the media there and she suddenly smirks and brightens. This is her moment on the red carpet and her little hips start swinging. Nearly every time after that, she takes the opportunity to make it memorable.

I think our little Casey knew just how sensational this case could get. It has all the elements: A pretty young mother, a beautiful missing child, a wild storyline, earnest cops..........I think she knew just exactly what was going to transpire. I believe she took the opportunity in the 31 days until she was arrested to party like the rock star she was going to forever be. It goes one of two ways for Casey Anthony: She'll be found guilty or not guilty. She will, however, never be "Innocent" because it has been a media circus and she has been the ring-mistress.

I agree. However, I think she was trying to get him to move the body to where it would never be found. I think LA led her to believe that he would do this, although I don't think he ever would have. I think he was trying to play along like he would find and get rid of the body. Surely JB informed KC that once a body was found there would be loads of evidence and tried to get from her how "well" she had done... did she wear gloves? did she bury it deep? could the body have touched the carpet in the trunk? might there be fingerprints on trashbags or tape with the body? Once she realized that she did a pretty "half-fast" job of disposing of the body, she wanted it gone. I think she thought LA would search for it, find it before anyone else could, and get rid of it. To me this fits in well with the reports of her saying, "Oh God, this can't be happening!" (FWIW, my extended theory was that he did find it first, via the PIs.)

Back on topic, I wish we had some video of her saying "Oh God, this can't be happening!" I'd like to believe she was genuinely distressed but part of me thinks she said it while rolling her eyes. :furious:

Bolding by me. Oh yes she does. I even noticed that she holds her handcuffed hands slightly away from her backside so it can be seen more clearly. Another clip of her coming out unhandcuffed, and she wiggles her bum so hard a reporter shouts to her and asks her why she is strutting. I have to agree that she is loving the spotlight.

There is one clip though, it's of her coming out of her parents house after being arrested. She is sauntering out and she glances up to see the protesters (I assume) and for one frame...just one frame...I believe we see her almost unmasked. I wish I knew how to capture a photo from a screenshot of the video, but in that moment...she sent chills down my spine. It was very simular to the one picture I have seen of Ted Bundy where he allows his mask to slip and we see the buried rage and hatred inside.

Here's something that has been on my mind:

CPL. YURY MELICH, ORANGE COUNTY INVESTIGATOR: Are you a person who, who`s scared about the consequences of what happened? Or are you scared about something that happened? Or are you, are you really this cold callous person who doesn`t care about what happened?

It`s one of these two options.

(Not two but three options? Then she answers with a fourth option, and this is never revisited during the questioning)

ANTHONY: I`m scared that I don`t know where my daughter is.

--------------------------

Parentheses are my thinking. What is your opinion on the above?

(snipped)

She was looking at everyone that was shouting "Baby Killer" with such contempt in her eyes. She looked truely evil that night.

I'm just confused with what people wrote concerning clues that lead me to think she was trying to slip away. That would be away from any attention paid to her, either negative or positive.

I struggled with why she didn't leave immediately after Caylee disappeared. I have had to resign myself to the simple thought that, while Casey may have been setting the stage for an escape, she was just incapable of leaving.

The story in my family goes something like this: My older sister, Laura, once did something that resulted in her being punished. Of course, Laura believed this was unfair and mom was just being mean. So she packed up her essentials (her blanket and bear) and decided to run away. Our neighbor saw Laura at the end of the block, standing on the corner with her things. She inquired as to what Laura was doing. Laura's response was "I'm running away!" The neighbor asked her why then was she just standing on the corner. Laura stated, rather emphatically "My mom won't let me cross the street alone!!!" Laura was around 5 or 6.

I think Casey's existence was a lot like that. Her cell pings show a woman who never strays far from home. I think Casey was incapable of carrying through with her escape plan because Casey has never EVER been really truly on her own and cut off from her family, which is what an escape would have meant. I think a lot of her behavior in the month after Caylee disappeared was her "last fling" before she was brought back in line and the truth came out. Any feelings she may or may not have had about Caylee's disappearance/death were squelched because the immediate need was to "act naturally" as much as a person could, with no independent personality beyond that of the person she's with.

Your post leaves a great deal of food for thought; cliche, I know, but true.
Thank you.

I guess I have to ask the questions:

Was gaining the public spotlight one of the motives that led her to murder? Or is this a reaction, after the fact?

Thanks debs, you have just stated what I have tried to and have thought from the beginning. I just can't type out the words as well as you just have. Sadly, this will never change for KC if she gets LWOP. She will always be this adult child. Never having full consciousness all that has happened or will.

You summarized it perfectly. There it is in a nutshell: adult child

Unfortunately, for her, there is no leniency for the emotionally challenged, or is there? OK, now I'm really confused.

I agree with your thoughts on what the 'hard partying' was really about. IMO she was acting out her (then) story of 'caring and thoughtful mother who prefers child to be with trusted nanny having fun, rather than stuck in the middle of grandparents' marital chaos', but she also knew it was only a matter of time before the smelly stuff hit the fan!

I called it her frenzied partying. But there ARE hundreds of hedonistic young women and men out there. Here we are going over ground that has been traversed before.

This whole thing is a very complex issue.

I think that KC thinks very fast on her feet. She just doesn't think that far ahead. Anybody with more than a brain stem would have spend a little more time on her alibi or story if they had killed their child. This all goes back to the statement by LP that KC lives her life 10 minutes at a time. She only sees and deals with whatever is right in front of her. She lies enough to get past that spot and then just carries on. She was used to getting away with it with her family and friends. When she tried it with LE it took them about 2 seconds to realize that she was full of chit and call her on it. She is flabbergasted by the fact that they don't believe her lies. Everyone else has always believed her lies (or at least that's what she thought). This time someone called her bluff and didn't enable her. That's why she thinks they arrested her "on a f^cking whim".

You're so right. I remember the conversation in the jail with CA wherein Casey is talking about how she would speak with whomever CA and GA brought in unless it was one of the detectives. She keeps talking about how she doesn't trust local LE. In my opinion, it's not that she doesn't trust them so much as it is she knows they'll call her out on her lies.

She was trying to intimate to her parents that the detectives were being abusive to her, I think.

To what lengths will KC go to, to cover up what she did?

I noticed also, that the A's themselves parrot each other. I don't know who picked what phrase up first or which word caught who's attention but in just the short amount of time (Jail house calls, and visits) we can hear them using the same phrases over and over. Interesting to me.

ITA. Like I pointed out yesterday, when Casey picked up the phrase "reaching out" Cindy and Lee began using it as well.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but her accent is fake.
She speaks with a New York accent and she's not from there.
People from Ohio do NOT speak with a New York accent.
But her new beau sure did didn't he?
And she has to copy whoever she's with.

Like she doesn't have an original thought of her own or a sense of self.
She wings it as she goes along.

Also, when she says, "Like a normal day", I noticed George used that same phrase.
I have never used that phrase ever in my life.
What is a "normal" day?
Is there such a thing?

Her accent is one of the things that grated on my ears. I couldn't place it. Yes, to me she sounds like she's trying to speak with a type NY accent. Certainly not a specific accent like the Bronx or LI (like my FIL) but she's certainly doing something odd there.
