This reminded me of the comment one of her friends made to LE that Casey had to have help in doing this because she's "not that smart". It is obvious to me that getting rid of Caylee was planned for a while, but it's also very clear that she only planned up until she was out of the way. She didn't put as much effort into how things would go after the fact and that has of course been her downfall.
2. Maybe she should have been googling how to dispose of a body instead of those other terms. I guess she figured she'd put people off indefinitely when they asked about Caylee and maybe in a few years, imply she placed her for adoption. She probably didn't feel pressured to come up with a final explanation and would just keep going with the "excuses" about Caylee's whereabouts. Until, that is, either she needed to rebury Caylee and/or her car started reeking and the smell just wouldn't "go away".

Exactly. I mean, she's effectively faked her entire life up until this point and and a good portion of Caylee's (the being dropped off at a sitter, not knowing who the dad is, which is something I never believed). I'm sure she thought she could keep on keeping on with it.

This diary was found in the house. Casey was not living in the house at the time. She was living with Tony. She may have come back to the house (and I do think that's where Caylee was killed), but certainly not to write in her diary.

How do you know that she didn't have that diary with her, and she wrote in it somewhere other than the house?

You know what I noticed? She wrote in red ink. She also wrote in red ink the name and number of someone on the back of a page of heart shaped stickers. How often do you use a red pen? I never do, it's rare.

Here it is. Pic #52 from this batch: http://www.wftv.com/slideshow/news/18740442/detail.html

Thanks, Crabcake23. It will be interesting to see if the writing on the back of the stickers will be traced to the same ink batch/pen. If the stickers or the call to the inspector can be dated, this could give more clues as to the date of the writing.

this is what i think too.

Casey Anthony: Jose Baez tells "Today" that diary entry is from 2003

"Today" returned to the issue Thursday morning -- and the segment seemed like a preview of arguments that are likely in a trial.

Defense attorney Jose Baez told the NBC program that the diary entry was from 2003. "This is before Caylee was even born," he said. Baez is representing Casey Anthony, who is charged with daughter Caylee's murder.

Thanks JB, this clears up both the trees that were blocking the forest....

:bang:

Seems to me she wrote it in 2003. Even though it seems to fit exactly how must of us believed she felt in June of 2008. I just can't get past that "03".
I think the 'carpe diem' page was written in '03. We just don't know when the June 21st entry was written.

LE seized it from her room in the house. Makes no sense that she wrote it somewhere else and then came back to the house and put it back there.
How do you know it wasn't among the belongings that Lee retrieved from Tony's apartment? Lee said there was "paperwork" with the clothes and toiletries.

Forensics and Ink...

<Snipped>

Thinking about forging a check? Might want to reconsider. It just got a whole lot easier to track you down. Using a new application of a recent technology, forensic specialists can figure out when a check was signed, what pen was used and even the origin of the ink used to sign it. Until now, ink could only be traced if a piece of the document were soaked in certain solutions. But the new method, aptly dubbed DART (for direct analysis in real time), can read the ink chemistry off the paper in a few seconds, without leaving any evidence that the paper was examined.

So what do we make of the date '03 in the corner of that diary? LE considers the diary entry evidence. When was the diary seized... in December? Sorry I can't look myself.. I'm up to my ears at work. If it was seized in December, she had time when she was out on bond to write '03 in the corner... but common sense would tell you she would have simply destroyed that evidence.

It doesn't appear that the diary was seized, based on the documents released yesterday.

Perhaps there will be more information in the next 1100 page release.

Why would the diary not be in the house? Didn't Lee collect all of KC's things from TL's apartment? I would think all of her things, including the diary would have been in the A home. I could be wrong but i'm just sayin'...

If I recall correctly it was seized from shelves in her room and categorized as such in the evidence list. Furthermore, considering how this girl writes, don't you think it would have had entries about Tony and scribbles of "Casey Lazzarro" if she had it on her at the time. The girl is dumb, but she's not so dumb that she would have written that and just left it around. Why would she make up a story and leave a confession. She could've been talking about an abortion or a break up for all we know.

Believe me, I think she's guilty and I think there are plenty of smoking guns, but I don't think this is one.

Maybe the last entry in the diary prior to killing Caylee was in '03, she decided to write her thoughts on her new found freedom in '08 and pulled out the old diary. Logic would say she would have written on the next available page, correct? It's obvious that pages have been removed from the diary. I'm thinking Casey started her diary in '03. In '08 she tore the old pages out and began new entries. The page to the left looks like the thicker type paper found just inside the cover of books or diaries.

That's what I'm thinking. I went through the wftv link that had the property reports. There were 201 pages, but most were property listings from the scene of poor Caylee's remains. The pages I saw that showed property listed at George and Cindy's house were page 66, 118, 147-151, 173-177 and 200-201. The journal wasn't listed. So I am thinking there are more property reports that will be included in the next 1100 page dump. I noticed that some of the items in the property reports that WERE published had evidence numbers next to them. Perhaps some of the property reports were not included in the 500 page dump b/c they were still in the process of having evidence numbers placed next to some of the items.

Lee picked up her stuff in July, and Casey was home on bond for a couple of weeks after that date, and could have put the diary anywhere.

As to why she'd write what amounts to a confession, I agree it sounds ridiculous. On the other hand, this is the person who actually took LE on a tour of the Universal backlot in an effort to convince them she worked there. Einstein she ain't.

I also agree that it's premature to consider this a smoking gun without forensic evidence that pinpoints the date it was written, and handwriting analysis that identifies the person who wrote it.

IMO, she hadn't "made up a story" yet. She was in the moment of euphoria in the days following the act. The story came later.

That's my problem too. I want to believe it was written in 2008 and sincerely hope that can be proven but.....

The news people are making a huge deal of this entry. I worry that misinformation could lead to a hung jury when all is said and done.

I read a report and then listen to JVM or NG or GVS shows and hear people talking about June 21 like there is no question about what YEAR it was written.

I'd like to see the ink dating report on this entry. If LE can't prove it was written in 2008 it won't even be admitted at trial.

I think we're not considering the details in the entire picture here.

Lee got the items from Tony just a day or so after Caylee was reported missing in July. Since then, Casey has been home. In fact, other than jail, she hasn't been any where else. So it's possibly (imo - it's exactly what happened) that Casey got the items from Lee or he dumped them in her room and she' went through it and put it away. I wouldn't even be surprised if there's not anymore entries after this either given the chaos that her life took on when she returned home.
