It seems unlikely that they are not both in there but I keep hoping against hope - even irrationally that maybe one survived somehow and is somewhere else .... Its crazy and I know its not rational but the human mind and heart needs proof - I can spin you a tale about theories and possible scenarios until its proven to me there are 2 men on board.
My thoughts are that since they seem to only be talking about the picture of the left plane fuselage area ... Does that mean its their only visual and they saw a body inside that area? Because it seems the Pilot would still be at the area of the controls? Unless he survived and got up and ended up in the left rear area???
Could anyone of survived that impact since the plane did not break up and how come it did not break up???? And how come seat cushions managed to be found and nothing else ? Can ones mind play tricks that one of the men escaped to the surface and used a cushion to float??? The plane hit the water in one piece ...how long before it sank? Or did it fly straight down to the bottom of the channel with so much force it broke water and like a speeding bullet kept going till it landed on the floor bed ... Or is that ridiculous? Clearly if it hit the water and remained intact then it must of sat upright for some time before it sank??? And someone could of gotten out???

I recommend having a look at the discussion on PPRuNe from pilots, as they cover these points pretty extensively. Here's the thread if you're interested: Cardiff City Footballer Feared Missing after aircraft disappeared near Channel Island - PPRuNe Forums

The short of it is that survival was pretty much impossible under the conditions due to the force of the impact and awful weather conditions. The door has been blown open so it seems unlikely it was ditched and then floated for a bit. Posters estimated that in a successful ditching, the plane would only float for 10-15 minutes anyway. Definitely not long enough to survive the sea before rescuers arrived on the scene. That part has a lot of high, rocky edges on the bits of land. So even if a raft situation had happened by some miracle, there's little chance they would have made it ashore.

I feel like I'm repeating myself but the plane like hit the water at 100+ miles an hour if they stalled, spun in, or maybe up to 200 mph if a loss of control and a high speed dive there are no survivors. Water is not "soft" - from their altitude it would have been like hitting cement.

This pilot did not hold an instrument rating (FAA public records at www.faa.gov) show his license credentials which would mirror his UK ones). He was in stormy weather. That makes spacial disorientation and loss of control almost a foregone conclusion.

Google the photos of the JFK Jr. plane crash and that's what you have. Pilot without instrument rating in a sky with no visible horizon and loss of control. The one photo released by the searchers for this airplane only shows the panel with the registration number - not the whole debris field.

Planes are built of lightweight materials. Overall the plane may weigh two tons but much of that is an engine. The plane will NOT be completely intact, the wings usually break off, the tail, and the fuselage is usually compromised with the front cockpit being crushed to some degree which is why the one photo shown shows an opening into the fuselage. The body is likely the pilot as the front of the airplane will have been crushed from the impact which usually results in his legs being trapped by the wreckage. If the back of the fuselage is open to water currents that may cause the second body to be moved. This is NOT a survivable crash.

Yes it is true you do keep telling me that - I keep trying to find anything or any loophole. Its about to all be revealed anyways and maybe closure-- of course if a body was sent to sea and never to be found - ughhhh !!! The sadness and the games the mind plays to want to believe a fairytale :(

This one and other reports are saying its possible it wont be brought up - just attempts to bring the body -- I hope thats not true - Mearns has stated it would not be complicated to lift it straight out with the right equipment but its not up to him. Would they not bring it up for money reasons or its just not something done ? Why would there be any hesitation or discussion on whether or not to bring the plane out of the ocean?

Ugly $27m standoff over missing star

Cardiff have yet to make a payment and Nantes put extra pressure on the Premier League side by asking for the first payment last Thursday.

It is understood Nantes will consider legal action if they don’t receive money within the next 10 days.

The transfer fee was agreed by the clubs to be paid over three seasons with Sala braced to pocket a $11,000 increase on the $80,000-a-week deal he was earning at Nantes.

Cardiff will honour the deal but have been reluctant to make a payment until they know “all the facts.”

One body has been recovered, no word yet who it is . No link, just heard it on BBC news
Emiliano Sala: UK air investigators recover a body from plane

A body was recovered from the wreckage of a plane found in the English Channel during the search for Cardiff City player Emiliano Sala and the plane's pilot, authorities said Wednesday.

In a statement released to CNN, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, or AAIB, said, "Following extensive visual examination of the accident site using the remotely operated vehicle (ROV), it was decided to attempt recovery operations. In challenging conditions, the AAIB and its specialist contractors successfully recovered the body previously seen amidst the wreckage."

The AAIB did not say if the body was Sala or the pilot, David Ibbotson.

The body was carried to Portland and would be sent to the Dorset coroner, the statement said. Crews could not recover the wreckage of the Piper Malibu at this time because of weather conditions, the statement said.

Live updates as body is found in Emiliano Sala plane search

The arrival of the body into Dorset has been reported to the Coroner for Dorset. The Coroner will investigate the circumstances of this death supported by Dorset Police. A post mortem examination will be held in due course.

While formal identification is yet to take place, the families of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson have been updated and will continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers, during this difficult time.
