You would have thought Dad would have planned activities with his son. Heck I would have taken my kid and his friends out to eat at McD on Sunday night!

i dont want to be too critical of the father but...his story hasnt stayed the same and that bothers me. first he saw him at 7:30am, then dylan changes plans to 6:30 & the friends thought the dad was bringing him, then he never shows...weird...did the dad have something in particular that he had to do at 7:30 and thats why dylans plans got changed to 6:30? idk...

I didn't even realise dogs could track sent onto a lake like that...

im just getting caught up..way too late by the looks of it... this appears to be the biggest problem...he changed the time to meet up with friend (wonder why? and then never showed up...and why so early? 6:30??) im sure ill figure it out as i keep reading ...

I hope you do... Because we haven't yet...

approx. four hour errands... Then approx five more hours before reporting him missing...

I think it is possible he was telling different stories to people. Like, told his dad he didn't want to run errands with him and that a friend's parents were picking him up later. Then, told the friends that his dad was bringing him over later.
I have run errands before that have taken me 3-4 hours depending on what I have to do and if he just got custody back and didn't want to rock the boat maybe he wanted to give Dylan some freedom and let him hang out with friends rather than dragging him to run errands.
Just playing devil's advocate a bit-everything by itself in this case does not seem suspicious to me, but put everything together and Dad is looking pretty bad.

I am just reading through to catch up but ^^this doesn't look good for Dylan. Hoping he is found soon.

One possible scenario (out of endless possibilities) is that Dad picks up Dylan at airport. Dylan contacts mom to let her know he arrived. Dad and Dylan chat on the way to Dad's. Right off the bat, Dylan tells his dad that he has made plans to visit his friends in Bayfield and could he drive him there. Dad is already a bit ticked that Dylan didn't even want to come to his place for Thanksgiving week and refuses. Convo continues like this:
"Well about in the morning?"
"We'll see....I'm not your chauffeur, you know and I have things to do in the morning!"
"Well why can't you drive me before your errands? I'll get up early! I promised them!"
Dad just fumes and doesn't say anything. (Dylan takes this as a yes and tells his friends he'll come early in the morning.)
Dylan jumps up in the morning, hoping to convince his dad to drive him.
Dad's in a hurry and says no and takes off even though Dylan is up and dressed. He tells Dylan to find his own way there and leaves.

Later, when he comes back he figures that Dylan found a way to his friend's house. Does Dad call D's friends late in the afternoon, ticked that Dylan hasn't left a note or called and it's getting close to suppertime -- and find out that Dylan never arrived?

Of course an alternative is that the argument devolved into worse, but I am hopeful that that is not the case.

Hundreds of search experiences. The dogs are usually wrong! This is a process of eliminating possibilities. We never lose hope or give up...

come downstairs and tell us about this dogs hitting on water...we were just looking for a SAR person...:)

in many other cases we have verified dog experts who say that trained cadaver dogs can hit on water accurately... personally in this case im hoping the dogs are wrong....

I'm reading this thread for the first time and I have a sick feeling in my stomach... I keep running through potential "best case" scenarios but as time ticks by they fade. You all have brought up so many of the questions and concerns I have; I have to believe that with the FBI involved now there are some answers (if not they are getting there quickly), but a presser would be helpful. Especially in a case like this it concerns me when LE is NOT keeping in regular contact with the public asking for specific help or leads... I know they're doing all they can, I just don't like where it tends to lead.

What is the immediate area like where dad lives? Is it very rural? How far apart are the homes? Are neighbors nearby, able to see each other from home to home? After almost a week I would expect LE to have scrutinized and attempted to verify dad's account of that morning (and/or the previous evening and the later part of the next day).... his "errands" and whereabouts, just to proceedurally confirm what he said is accurate. I would hope they would be forthcoming about his cooperation or lackthereof.

Dylan's mom is confirming that his cell and charger DID go with him to his father's? So now if Dylan's cell phone and charger are missing from the dad's home, this would indicate that either Dylan had them with him when he disappeared or someone else moved them from the home. If Dylan was abducted from outside the home, say if he was playing or innocently walking around the neighborhood, it doesn't make sense to me that he would have the cell/charger on him. Basically for me this eliminates an innocent explanation for him being gone. Do we know if anything else was taken /missing from the home? Did he unpack when he arrived at his father's?

So many questions and not enough answers! This young man needs to be in a warm safe home with his family NOW, I pray this will turn out for the best and won't give up hope until he is home!!

I am highly suspicious of the father. The story he's telling doesn't quite add up. Sadly, money and spite are two of the biggest motivating factors for murder. If he didn't exercise his visitation rights often, but suddenly wanted this holiday visit, and the child disappeared shortly after the mom was awarded sole custody( probably meaning higher child support payments), it could indicate the father was angry about the court decision ,does not want the additional expense and wants to cause the mother as much pain as he can. I don't get the sense Dylan or his older brother are close to the father - you have to wonder why? I am sure some will say this is due to parental alienation, but sometimes kids are alienated from a parent for good reason - they can sense the parent doesn't have good intentions!
I have a 13 year old son and he would not willingly go radio silent at 8pm, especially if he was back in town and wanting to meet up with old freinds. Sadly, I think something happened to him Sunday night. I think the eyewitness who reported seeing him the next day was mistaken.

From what I'm reading online, it looks like the boat scanned the water for a while then came back to shore and picked up 3 divers who are now in the water searching. Conditions are good for searching, the water is clear and flat. Normally the lake would be 140ft but it was dry and so it is low at only 60-80ft deep, making it easier to search. They used underwater cameras initially. Divers in the water concerns me, makes me think they found something on sonar. Please don't let it be Dylan!

Apologies that I can't post a link. I'm at the airport using my phone to keep up.

it says they used sonar first but now they are hunting down a fish finder...why would they need that now...i thought sonar would be better or more accurate ?? anyone??

My theory... And please note that I am often wrong.. But...

If dad has a boat... Or has access to a boat... He took Dylan "fishing".... Could explain early morning time... And that is when dad said he was running errands..

dad returns without Dylan... Pretend searches..(shows up at friends' house to look like he is really searching).. Then calls LE and mom...possibly about the same time...

Merely speculation...

I thought a fishfinder IS sonar. Are they one and the same? Anyone an expert on this?

Ryan Nava, 13, a friend of Dylan’s said in a phone interview Saturday that Dylan was originally going to Bayfield to visit his friends Sunday night but then changed that to meet them at 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Quote:
Ryan said he and his friends expected Dylan’s father to drive him into town from Vallecito, but Dylan never arrived.

So I wonder if Dylan had asked his dad for a ride the night before?

Or did he wake up and find his Dad had left already? And so maybe he just tried to 'hitch' a ride himself?

i wonder if dylan called to change the time/day or if he texted the friend to make the change?

did dad call 911 or go to the police station to report Dylan missing???
