"Task force members are looking at this investigation as a criminal investigation," said Lt. Shupe. "We are still looking at all other possibilities."

Is this the first time they have said that this is a criminal investigation??

But I thought they ruled out him being lost or running away? So what other possibilities are they talking about?

The grocery store. They must have a video camera?

I have not heard them say that before. But I am not surprised, if not a runaway, and did not get lost??? What else is left. It means something happened criminal? correct? either abduction? or....( I am not going to say it)

I have wondered if something was put in Dylan's food or drink right after he was picked up at the airport. Maybe by the time they got home, he was woozy and went to bed and never woke up, hence the "out like a light". Just wondering, and I hope I am wrong. But if this did happen, wouldn't dogs pick up on a live Dylan never leaving the home? And the dogs did hit on the boat at the lake. And we have been told that in this weather, a body would not float to the top. Maybe the missing fishing pole kept being pointed to early on with the admonition to search that lake because a certain perp WANTED Dylan's body retrieved and presented as a " f u " to a certain other. Maybe he didn't know it would be so hard to retrieve a body from the lake. And that the "gone fishing, fell in lake" would be such a transparent unbelievable ploy.

I have also worried that the frownie face in Dylan's arrival text may have been due to his dad's possible state of inebriation and agitation rather than a simple "I'm not happy to be here" frown. I wish someone in the community or family would speak to whether MR was known to have mood-while-drinking issues.

I don't believe he has taken a poly yet. Unless he does one today during his 'official' interview/

And what do you think about them impounding his two vehicles and taking them to the forensics lab? Does that seem odd to you at all? It's been two weeks. I would have thought the dad would be cleared already. JMO

I do think he has already taken a poly. That is one of the first things LE asks a family member to do and they have said they have talked with Mr. Redwine several times. Maybe he passed and that is why there has been such a delay. It wouldnt surprise me either if they asked Dylan's mom to take one to make sure she didnt hide him out somewhere because she didnt want him going to MRs house in the first place.

The entire investigation timeline seems very odd to me. All of these things should have been done immediately. Do it right away and they are ahead of the investigation and not lagging behind. They could have put a rush on some items and gotten the results back by now. It bothers me greatly that they have waited so long.

I dont think much about them impounding his vehicles...that too should have been done over two weeks ago imo. They have to take them in and search them forensically to see if there is any evidence there. That is what LE does and is supposed to be thorough in any investigation.

I dont know how this LE works but most LE agencies across the country dont come out and publicly clear anyone specifically by name anyway. Some jurisdictions will do it occasionally but its very rare, imo.

I think the reason he hasnt been cleared behind the scenes is they are just now doing the SW of home and property and vehicles. Sheesh why the long wait?

IMO

From that article ... very interesting:

Lt. Shupe said they would like to thank the community for sharing video footage of the Vallecito area, taken between the evening of Sunday, November 18 and noon on Monday, November 19.

"Footage is currently being analyzed by investigators for clues," said Lt. Shupe.

The task force is still requesting video footage or photographs that include vehicles traveling on any routes between Durango and Vallecito Reservoir during that time frame.

I wish they would go national with the plea for footage. I know many travel from all over to go to that area, its big on time shares. Tourists are more likely to take footage than locals in my opinion.

YIKES. Is that a new request? I mean it sounds like they are looking for pictures of vehicles driving to the reservoir.

Do they think someone drove Dylan to the reservoir that night?

Investigators concluded their search of the home of Mark Redwine, father of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, Thursday night after serving a search warrant in the morning.

Mark Redwine also agreed to give an official interview to the task force for the case – comprised of agents from the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, Durango Police Department, Bayfield Marshals Office, FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation – after investigators asked if he would be willing to do an in-depth interview, said Lt. Ray Shupe, spokesman for the task force.

Redwine has given several cursory interviews in the past, but this was the first in-depth interview he has given, Shupe said. No attorney was present for the interview, and Shupe said Redwine has not retained an attorney.

Redwine has been cooperating with authorities and has not been named a suspect or person of interest, Shupe said.

Authorities say they will not release any information about the interview or what was, or was not, taken from the residence.

The task force concluded its door-to-door canvassing that began Tuesday and have shifted their focus to following up on leads and evidence.

“Until we put together any leads or information that leads us in a certain direction, most work is going to take place internally,” he said.

Volunteers can continue searching the area surrounding Vallecito Reservoir after authorities requested earlier this week that they stay away from a few days while investigators canvassed the area.

It has been ruled out that Dylan ran away from the home. He was last seen Nov. 19. Authorities also have ruled out the possibility that the teenager wandered into the wilderness and got lost around Vallecito Reservoir.

“Task force members are looking at this investigation as a criminal investigation,” Shupe said in a news release.

What is this about?! Do they still think Dylan might be at the Reservoir, then? BBM.

BBM

Not to be snarky, but who else would the information come from? Obviously there's no way to know for sure what happened, since only Dylan and his dad were there. Dylan isn't around to tell us, and dad's story can't be independently verified.

In this case, I can see Dylan being unhappy, possibly sulky, and probably not trying to hide his feelings from his dad. And I can see Dylan going directly to bed when he got to his dad's house. Not to sleep, but to get away from dad. After all, he is a 13 year old boy on a court-ordered visit to his father. JMO

BBM - I keep wondering, too, if maybe Dylan went to bed not to sleep but to have space and privacy to text his friends. Maybe he tried to take his cell phone, and dad got upset and took the phone away / turned it off. Just a thought.

Good catch!

I wonder if MR payed alimony? would a live in partner change the terms of alimony?

can't speak for california, as whacky as it is there. but overall, no, living with someone does not change the terms of alimony. its only when that person gets married the alimony changes. however, child support likely does not until the child reaches of age. (or whatever age is agreed on in the settlement).

it also does not change the terms of someone on welfare to ie wic. i know of someone who lived with her baby's daddy; he made ample money to support all three of them, but she still claimed welfare, wic and health insurance for her and the baby. love those 'milkers'. :furious:

Why do they keep referring back to Vallecito Reservoir? Could he have become lost along Vallecito Creek up by his dads or along Bear Creek? They are being very specific in leading back to this reservoir and I don't know why this reservoir seems to hold some significance to them? I is confused....

re: for criminal investigations

abduction
murder
kidnapping

????

this is the first time i have heard "criminal" investigation as a direct quote:

Just to be clear, there are many different types of violence and many different causes (I am State Certified in domestic batterer intervention so I've worked with both abusers and survivors). There's an old adage in the field that the most 'successful' abuser is the one who is not physically violent -- his control over the victims is powerful enough simply by his words, threats, and the fear he instills in his victims.

From my experience, men who were abusive in the privacy of their homes were generally not abusive or violent in public and the abuse or violence was generally directed solely at their intended victims (like the wife or children). It wasn't that they had a huge temper that could not be controlled and they would just haul off and beat up strangers or friends without any warning (although there are disorders that can cause that -- which is why I'm being clear that there are different types of violence with different causes).

Some violence can be caused by impulse control problems such as those with Intermittent Explosive Disorder. But, domestic violence is in a different category (usually) and involves a PATTERN of coercion, power, and control over a victim.

Speaking as a survivor, I can definitely say that yes, you are absolutely, 100% right on that score! My ex had a dark and verbally abusive side he showed only towards myself and an entirely different "good old boy" face he showed to his family, and the rest of the world. No-one had a clue. Until I took legal action and took the control away from him. His mask did slip then - he was absolutely enraged that I'd "let the outside world in". He actually threatened me in front of police officers and later in front of a judge who, after his outburst in court actually asked me in the middle of the courtroom "How I ever wound up with him?" Apparently however, his mask was quickly back in place and he found another victim because I still run into people who know him now ...as a "good old boy".......really scary if you think about it.....

I think it's because they want to see proof of several things. a) Dad arrived at the airport and Dad and Dylan went home after shopping as Dad described b) Dad did not leave the area that night or in the wee hours of the next morning c) Dad left at 6:30am as he stated d)Dylan was or was not walking down the road and e)if he was walking down the road perhaps someone captured a photo or video of him being picked up by someone or accompanied by someone.

I can think of many reasons they would want to see any photo's or video's on that stretch of road.

Somebody call Tim Miller.

Also wondering if MR hasn't obtained a lawyer because he already has one? Would his divorce attorney be qualified to represent him if he were ever to face criminal charges? (Please forgive my ignorance. I'm not versed in legal matters.)

BBM. And, yet, they're asking for video footage of vehicles driving from Durango to the Reservoir! So, is the Reservoir a key point of interest in this investigation....or ruled out??! :banghead:
