Any news on "what" happened at the divorce hearing yesterday or is it too soon to ask?

There is nothing on the court site for next hearing.
Hi @Niner -- do you know if any of the divorce hearings have been held or docketed? I was under the impression that not much was happening in family court outside of filings until after July 4. I don't see anything past/future calendar but I'm not using a subscription search. Sorry I'm not much help since I know you want to update your grid. :)

I thought there might be a local article @Seattle1 - on what might have happened. The only thing I know about the divorce is the 2 hearings that held on it. First one was 4/30 & didn't get the next hearing date until about 6/4/20. Right now there is nothing on the court site for any hearings. I'll keep my eye out on it.

In my notes I have 7/17 & 9/8 as next hearings. We shall see.... :)

El Paso County Criminal Justice Center ( CJC ) where LS is an inmate will be shoring up their security. Yikes, it sounds like it’s way overdue IMO. Hopefully it will be tightened up good when she gets back from Pueblo.
Have we heard if she’s made the transfer yet? I can’t find any news about it.

Federal COVID-19 relief funds to solve problem of inmates 'popping locks' at jail
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is to receive $13.6 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds, nearly half of which will be used to shore up security at the county jail.

Criminal Justice Center operators have complained for more than a decade that inmates have figured out how to pry open locks on their cell-room doors, letting them get out long enough to attack gang rivals, ambush state's witnesses and commit other acts of mayhem inside the jail.

Thanks to the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, Sheriff Bill Elder’s office said it will finally address the problem — by replacing every cell door lock, and overhauling the video surveillance and door control systems.

POPPING LOCKS!!!!
Oh my....
I've seen it all now!

1. What did the DA file and why?

The documents the DA filed with the court on June 2, 2020 are requesting the court to conduct an in-camera review of documents from the Dept of Health Services (DHS) that were provided to the DA under seal.

The DA is seeking direction from the court whether or not the documents should be shared with LS and her Defense, and if so, under what appropriate protection order. The People are presenting the documents to the court because the people believe they may contain information relevant to this case.

2. What is the Dept of Health Services (DHS)?

I think most associate DHS with the Child Welfare Department which is a division of the Office of Children Youth and Families that does in-fact fall under DHS.

However, DHS houses many other divisions under its state umbrella including:
  1. Office of Adult Aging, and Disability Services;
  2. Office of Behavior Health;
  3. Office of Early Childhood;
  4. Office of Economic Security; and
  5. Operations for the entire DHS including Communications, Human Resources, Facilities Management, Business Technology, Project Management, and Leadership.
3. Which State did these DHS documents come from?

I think the DA obtained the DHS documents from either Colorado or South Carolina.

If the documents are from Colorado DHS, they are most likely related to records from the Office of Children, Youth, and Families - Division of Child Welfare.

4. [P-05] is Peoples Motion for Camera Review of Department of Human Resources Documents.

However, if the documents came from South Carolina, I think they may be totally unrelated to the Division of Child Welfare because the Department of Human Resources (from Motion title P-05) actually falls under the Department of Operations.

Take note the title of the motion states Department of Human Resources and not DHS so it could be HR for DHS.

I recall that LS's two longest jobs seemed to be in SC before she married AS in 2015. According to MSM, LS was employed as an education specialist and teacher and at-risk youth coordinator in South Carolina. She also worked for the South Carolina State Department of Social Services as a human services specialist from 2008 to 2010 in Myrtle Beach, according to her Linkedin profile.

If the motion title above is correct, I think it's possible the documents discovered with information that could be related to this case might be from South Carolina's Dept of Social Services, and the DA is waiting to hear whether on not they must share the documents with the defense.

I'm wondering if she had a prior diagnosis with a psychiatric disease? Disability?

Have we heard if she’s made the transfer yet? I can’t find any news about it.
I have not seen the transfer to the mental facility mentioned in any news articles, however,

Leigh Egan with CrimeOnline via Websleuths YouTube said she has been transferred.

No date was mentioned.

Leigh also stated that Leticia’s defense team has reached out to her.

Leigh referred them to the CrimeOnline legal department.

The above was in the most recent episode when Leigh was a guest.

In another episode several days earlier (maybe last week? Sorry I do not recall exact dates or have link handy. I am in a perpetual TIME WARP o_O lately).

Her family is supportive/standing behind her (this being before the jailbreak attempt and mental evaluation timing).

Some family members think she is being railroaded and will not get a fair trial in Colorado Springs.

Leigh did feel one family member was wavering or at least questioning in their stance, as they asked Leigh what she thought the truth was and what LS could be hiding.

A family member also told Leigh the moving van made it to South Carolina before Letecia.

YIKES :p: now I have the Rocky Horror Picture Show time warp song stuck in my brain. Happy memories of the midnight movies and crowd participation. Those were the days!

I keep thinking about her Tsplain about the gate and key and I imagine her now walking back and forth to the door in her cell/room. I bet she'd like a key now.

The best we can do, sweet Gannon, is hope she stays locked up for good, so she can't hurt anyone else, at least not physically. Your sister is safe, your parents love you, and here at WS, we all do.

Just my somber opinion...

I'm wondering if she had a prior diagnosis with a psychiatric disease? Disability?
I'm wondering the same. The reason I didn't immediately think CPS is the defense would probably already have that information on their own and not need to wait for DA to bring it up.

I think DA investigators are going through her background. Also, her prior employment with "at-risk youth" may have been through DHS program and not a school district hire so more LS secrets would show up in "human resources" documents.

I get wanting to believe the best about your loved ones, but how can any logical human being even consider supporting this monster to the point of thinking that she is being “railroaded”? Do they believe her Eguardo nonsense, or just think that she is very mentally ill and didn’t mean to do it? Either way, wow. Hopefully the one person who is potentially seeing the light is willing to testify to what he/she knows in court.

I can't help believe that the escape situation is not as it appears. She not getting any attention so why not do something to get the attention she craves. It could have been done so it would drag the trail out further. Just another way to cause pain for Gannon family .She definitely a mess so with her I won't be surprised.

Did anyone actually read this affidavit and pay attention to the details the CO provided? It's contradictory, she's been segregated from all as of 5/5/20 and ALWAYS shackled, so how again did she have the opportunity to go to the second floor and slip notes?

Somehow I believe nobody cares about details anymore because they are so convinced of her guilt without all evidence yet. She's a real Houdini! Imagine the tricks it would've taken to "slip out of" being shackled in a transport can to attack the driver. That's some super human ability there.

BBM

Good point.

I'm not sure we've been given details about the Kansas incident. At least I haven't seen them. Personally I was never sure she was shackled for the cross-country drive.

I thought that LS was on the 2nd floor and the other prisoner was on the first. The other prisoner couldn't go to LS room to talk to her.

LS is required to be in shackles when being moved, not when she has her "free" hour to walk around. I think she was simply in the backseat of the car when transported and punched the officer. She wasn't a flight risk at the time.

While I am happy to read that this is being done, I have to wonder why it took a pandemic and a literal act of Congress to get these locks and other security measures updated.

Yes, shades of Chris Watts's family.

But then maybe she talks to them behind a wall of hair all the time so that was nothing unusual to them. I got that far into watching that first interview with her and that was all I needed to know she was [ETA] responsible for Gannon's disappearance.

IMO MOO

Reading the details and understanding what you’re reading are obviously two different things...

1. She is not always shackled. The PCA states she is placed in full restraints when being transported outside of the facility.

2. Seg All Doesn’t mean she has zero contact with inmates. I’m pretty sure CO is similar to other states that allow inmates with this classification to roam certain areas somewhat with a limited amount of freedom. Other inmates are locked in their cells during this time, as their free time is staggered.

3. LS is NOT housed on the first floor ( details!!) The PCA clearly states that LS is on the second floor. The inmate she slipped the notes to is housed on the first floor. This inmate was not allowed to travel to the second floor. However, LS almost certainly has access to the first floor during her time out, as this is where she can engage in recreational activities like watching TV, walking around, etc.
This is where she is able to engage with other inmates, by talking and passing notes through the doors.

4. To the best of my knowledge, there aren’t many details about the assault during the transport. We do know she was in a van. We don’t know if the van was being driven at the time (probably not) She could have slipped her wrist cuffs, they probably weren’t on too tight for that long ride. Even if her legs were shackled, if an officer was in a tight spot with her in the van, and they didn’t know she slipped her wrist cuffs, it wouldn’t be hard for her to bite, grab, punch, etc.

No offense, but you really think LE is stupid enough to put contradictory details in a probable cause affidavit??

The court replied to the DA's motion on June 8, 2020 -- ordering the DA to release all but 6 of about 40 pages of DHS documents to the defense in the normal discovery process. However, the documents are not to be made available to the public without a court order.

A question for someone more knowledgeable than myself. Would the competency evaluation be something that is a normal for a case like this, or is it because there are issues with her not working with her attorney?

The competency evaluation to stand trial should not be confused with a defense that the defendant is not guilty by reason of insanity.

Proceeding with a trial while the defendant is mentally incompetent violates due process, and the court must order an evaluation.

In determining whether the defendant is competent to stand trial, the court must determine "whether [the defendant] has sufficient present ability to consult with his lawyer with a reasonable degree of rational understanding -- and whether he has a rational as well as factual understanding of the proceedings against him or to assist properly in his defense.
