Found Deceased CO - Gannon Stauch, 11, Colorado Springs, Lorson Ranch, El Paso County, 27 Jan 2020 *endangered* #19

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is searching for 11-year-old boy who ran away from home.
He was wearing a blue jacket and jeans when he left his house.

He is 4'9" and weights 90 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call (719) 390-5555.

Gannon Stauch of Colorado Springs left home on foot around 3:15 p.m. to go play at a friend's house, his parents say, but never came home.

Gannon was wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans and tennis shoes when he went missing. He has brown hair with brown eyes and weighs 90 pounds.
The EPC Sheriff's Office is asking you to call 719-390-5555 if you have seen Gannon or know of his whereabouts.‬

The last known sighting of Stauch was Monday afternoon between 3 and 4 p.m. in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood at his home. He lives along Mandan Drive east of Colorado Springs near Fontaine Boulevard and Marksheffel. He was reportedly going to visit his friend a few streets away.

Gannon's father is a member of the National Guard, and the Guard is assisting with search efforts.

Due to his age and expected weather, the Major Crimes Unit is assisting in the search because they have more tools at their disposal.

Rarely are things black and white when it comes to the Websleuths rules.

One of our rules is we cannot accuse just anyone of a crime. Good rule. Another rule we do our best to follow is unless law enforcement says someone is a suspect or even a person of interest we cannot accuse anyone connected to a case of a crime.

Then we have our great big gray areas. Like Gannon's case.

It is rare these days for law enforcement to actually say someone is a suspect but we have to use our common sense.

Take the case of the missing children of Lori Vallow. Her behavior and the fact that people around her are dropping dead leaves us with the very logical conclusion that she has done something with her children and therefore we do allow our members to discuss this case with Lori and her husband Chad as possible perps involved in her missing children.

Mark Sievers was just convicted of 1st-degree murder in the death of his wife Dr. Teresa Sievers even though he was hundreds of miles away when she was murdered. Early on we allowed our members to discuss Mark Sievers as a suspect because of what our members discovered and it was only common sense that he was a suspect.

Then there is the case of Heidi Broussard. Her boyfriend was 100 percent innocent in her disappearance and her murder but many members decided to accuse him of being involved because he was awkward in front of the camera. I hope that those who felt it was OK to accuse a man when there was no evidence to suggest he had anything to do with the crime will re-think before they ever do something like that again. Remember, unless the Internet blows up, Heidi and Shane's children could (one day) read your words about their father.

Your words have power. You are responsible for your opinions. We cannot babysit this thread 24/7.

Can we talk about TS's suspended teaching certificate now, the circumstances surrounding the ruling etc, now that it's outlined on in a MSM source? The actual documents are publicly available. Because it points to a pattern of deception, also hints at motive, imo.

Would be interested to know if Gannon routinely missed school, or did he have pretty good attendance. Just wondering if Monday was out of the ordinary or routine for that??

School attendence should be looked at. My son was around 13 and his friends Mom allowed him to have poor attendence - she slept in with a younger child or she took him shopping. One day she came to my house for support because of a Social Service call. When she hung up she asked me, "Doesn't that sound like what a mother that loves her children would say"? My jaw dropped on that statement. She did not like authority or teachers at her doorstep. She made a statement that she wished a huge monster with big teeth would come down from the sky and eat them up! Lies were done to my face and I confronted her but she would say she can't help it. Some people we just can not figure out. She has since moved on out of state after a very short time of living here. I believe her children were not physically harmed by her.

This is the first case I’ve been on WS for and the first case I’ve followed closely. Is it usual for there to be almost nothing released by LE? Makes me think they have a lot of info and don’t need much public help.
I know it’s so complicated, I just wonder with cameras everywhere and a relatively short amount of time he wasn’t seen, why he hasn’t been found yet? I know LE is working so hard. I have a whole new appreciation for them after seeing them searching in those awful conditions day after day. Does anyone think he could possibly be alive somewhere? TS seems cunning. Maybe there is a second person involved. All I know for sure is that sweet boy deserves to come home. His parents and siblings and family deserve that. Breaks my heart daily.

Good Afternoon all, I am a “new” member who is really not new ha! Spent MUCH time on the boards back during Caylee Anthony and Kyron H. cases but took a hiatus as I felt I lost a good portion of my year that year and I have ZERO idea which old e-mail I might have used.
Anyway...
I just wanted to drop in and say that the timeline on this case is INCREDIBLE, kudos.
Only thing I wanted to add was that I suspect the reason that our friend spent so much time in the truck leaving/coming back is because she was checking her security app and observing *exactly* which nooks and crannies were visible and which were not.

It's not unusual these days. Different jurisdictions really vary (I'm used to conditions more like those seen in Salt Lake City when Mackenzie went missing). Today, though, all LE and DA have so many reasons not to say a word.

They also have very good reasons not to file charges right away, both legal and financial.

It may be Spring before they file charges, wouldn't be surprised.

The silence from law enforcement isn’t at all unusual. We likely won’t hear much until Gannon’s body is found, and/or in the event of an arrest.

I see absolutely no hope of him being found alive.

Just about the only scenario that would even allow for that, is if she handed him off to someone else.

Had that happened though, she’d have every reason to admit it. If not, law enforcement would almost certainly be able to figure that out on their own, and that’s without anyone else involved coming forward.

I think she did this alone, with the exception of potentially some help after the fact from someone close to her.

Not that I would blame this person, as her mom is nothing if not manipulative and controlling.

Yeah. When I was watching this I was thinking "It's not like the driver is hitching up a horse trailer without help." I did that a few times, and it was a miserable experience.

@Silverheels How is the snow looking in your area?

I just cannot understand going from the huge 80-100 man search for over a week to BAM. Nothing. No searches along a presumed path of travel, no drone searches, no request for the 500 volunteers that are standing ready to help. They’ve said weather will not keep them from searches, so I don’t know if that’s what they are waiting on. Would they say if it was budget limitations keeping them from searching?

I cannot imagine them suspending the search just to wait on evidence to come back unless that evidence is supposed to point to where Gannon may be located. I would expect them to keep searching near the home and exhaust every resource and possible area before just giving up this early on.

Is this a normal timeline to end searches for a missing and endangered child? How long did they look for other children before suspending searches? Ayla Reynolds? Ember Graham? Haleigh Cummings?

If I still lived in CO, it would be extremely difficult to not spend my free time out searching the side of the road, ditches, culverts, looking over guard rails.

What if all this is futile and she placed him in a dumpster, and there’s no hope of finding him by now?

It is a helpless feeling knowing he is somewhere out there and we cannot do anything to help bring him home. I can’t imagine the turmoil his family is facing today.

Edit to add: I don’t expect a dumpster to be very probable given the 10-2 timeline, during daylight hours, but it has happened so often I cannot absolutely rule it out.
