I'm very surprised that they took all the families to the high school to tell them the news first vs going to them at their residence.

He joked with his daughters that they got tickets to Brave. They wanted to see Batman so he took them. He insisted for her to take the extra arm rest. They saw a commercial for a Superman movie and she and her dad laughed at the audience's excitement.

My heart breaks for her reliving this night. I hope she has a lot of support waiting for her after she gets off the stand.

The last memory of her dad in the theater was trying to wake him up.

Cierra was 16 on July 20 and her sister was 17. They were in theater with their dad.

Cierra Cowden was 16 & sis Brooke was 17. Dad Gorden, slain in #theatershooting, joked about seeing @PixarBrave. Girls wanted to see Batman.

Cierra was taken to the HS but she felt when she touched her father back in theater he was dead. #theatershooting

Ohhh Man!!! This poor child trying so hard to describe things thru her tears!! My heart aches and my eyes are leaking!!

Me too - the only reason I can think of is that it was still an active crime scene, so they had to make sure everyone was safe, and assess the damages before they could deal with the families and uninjured victims. But how horrible for them, IMO. I can't imagine what they all went through.

Objection #3 ( Approach )...Bright side this child gets a moment to regroup..but gees such rudeness on the defence's side..!!

Well, this time the "Approach" request may be a good one. The 19 y/o just told us what the hardest part of her dad's funeral was, and she is nearly inconsolable -- she needs a minute or two to compose herself. (But I feel sure that is not why she did it.)

Cierra telling jury it was so hard putting her hand on her fathers coffin....annnnnd we have an approach #theatershooting

^^^^ Man oh man..this child is describing the IMPACT of what their client did to this whole family!!

Just saying if somebody knows that my family member has died I don't want to have to drive somewhere to a high school to learn of it and then be with strangers ...not in my house with family and friends for support... and then have to drive back home.

:moo:

SMH I do not agree with that

ETA so much appreciate all the posts from others ...I am following but obviously I am not posting often because I do emotional outbursts in posting right now

Told you! Anytime a witness shows emotion, brady pops up to interrupt!
Jury is not to have emotion for the victims but are supposed to for her client- per the defense!!!!
She's probably up there citing all the rules & constitutions, etc. Her client has more rights than the victims!!!!

You're absolutely right about that, and I agree with you - it seems unnecessarily cruel, and I don't understand why they would do that.
I guess I was just trying to make sense of it in my own mind. What happened was bad enough, why make these people go searching for their loved ones? It's awful, and I don't agree with it either. JMO

I'm the same. This phase of the trial is too hard to watch. Not because of the testimony though. I want to hear it. I just can't handle the defence behaviour.

We're live! One of the jurors has a son who is graduating at Ft. Bragg, NC on Friday, the 7th. He has an airline ticket for Thursday, and hopes to be able to use it or possibly get a ticket for later on Thursday. The principals are now conferring on the schedule...

Thanks..what was outcome ? Would think that they would have told the court earlier

Matthew McQuinn’s mom, Jerri Jackson, on the stand. He was 27 when he was killed. Raised in Ohio

He moved to Colorado a year earlier. Was in long-term relationship with Samantha, injured herself

Unless we know why notifications were given as they were, can we refrain from second guessing those who were dealing with this horror? I doubt that any of them are cruel or uncaring...

#RIP #MattMcQuinn - Matt & Samatha. He saved her life by throwing himself on top of her

The Judge said the same thing to the Juror, who answered that she had sent several emails to the court, but had no response. The Judge said it was too late to change the schedule at this point, but he would have scheduled accordingly if he had known in advance. He said he would check on her emails and let her know if that changed his opinion.
So, as far as we know, the Judge's answer was 'no', but I guess that could change .
I also wonder why she didn't send her note to the judge when she didn't get an email reply? Why buy a plane ticket and then ask? Odd, IMO

If I was that juror I would have told someone I hadn't had a reply. Especially for something so important!

Jerri Jackson: My dad's no longer Mr. Wonderful. He tells folks "We buried Mr Wonderful"-> his grandson/#theatershooting victim Matt McQuinn

:tears::tears::tears:

Matt McQuinn's mother had to identify her son's body. I'm so sad for her. This is just awful.
