And isn’t that a dumb excuse. Idk how big his herd is. Guess what, I, too, have cattle. And investments in the stock market. Am I pleased with either? Nope. But, I’m not going to kill anyone over it.
He could have gotten a job working at night or......
If he needed additional finances.
Oh well. He’s on the all expense paid trip of his lifetime now.
Is it possible that he was her life insurance beneficiary since he was the child's father- and maybe he saw this as a solution to his financial problems?

Patrick Frazee arrested for first-degree murder in Kelsey Berreth case
Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young says Patrick Frazee is in custody for suspicion of first-degree murder and suspicion of solicitation of first-degree murder for the death of his fiancé Kelsey Berreth.

De Young says only one person was arrested today despite reports to the contrary. He also mentioned that additional arrests are a possibility.

Frazee will make his first court appearance via video conference at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Frazee was arrested this morning at his family’s property in Florissant. The arrest came the morning after local, state and federal agents continued their search of Berreth’s home for a second time.

Chief De Young said they obtained sufficient evidence to get an arrest warrant from a judge on the belief that Berreth is no longer alive.

“Investigators have recovered a number of items that make us suspicious that the crime did occur at Kelsey’s residence,” De Young said. “That is why we have been coming back to her residence.”

As of Friday morning, investigators continue to search Berreth’s townhome in Woodland Park.

De Young said he does not know where Berreth’s body is located, and he didn’t want to speculate on a possible location. De Young did say that Berreth’s phone ended up in Idaho and that the information about Berreth’s phone pinging off of a tower in southern Idaho was accurate. However, her phone has not yet been found.

De Young said that Berreth’s family is now caring for Berreth and Frazee’s 1-year-old daughter. Frazee had cared for their daughter in the weeks following Berreth’s disappearance, but it’s not clear exactly when their daughter was taken from his custody.

District Attorney Dan May said it will be 10 days before charges are formally filed, and he said that the fourth judicial district will handle the investigation moving forward.

It could be that he wanted her 'out of the way', and some time prior solicited her murder, and that the solicitation attempt came out during the investigation of his actually murdering her. Not necessarily the same event. Hope I'm making sense...

So let's say Perp wants her gone and asks Cousin Nogood months earlier if he would 'take her out' for him. As DA said, there has to be not just the suggestion but some planning for it. They have a few conversations, but Cousin doesn't really think he's for real, just that he's blowing off steam maybe. So he says no to the request, but doesn't report. Then Kelsey goes missing.

In the meantime, Thanksgiving Day no one is around, maybe Perp won't get to see his child for a few days, there's a blow up, whatever, he kills her. This act might not have been premeditated in the sense that he decided in advance it would be on Thanksgiving Day but...

Cousin Nogood comes forward to LE now that Perp is under suspicion. This revelation *could* create a solicitation of murder charge AND, once they discover evidence of death, a Murder 1 charge because even if he didn't premeditate the act *that day* (i.e. even if he killed her in a fit of rage), there's now evidence he *had* been premeditating her death.

Possible.

Possible it happened that way but it would still be premeditated in my mind because he thought about it before it happened. It would be pretty close to impossible to prove he did it in the heat of the moment when he had already considered ways to kill her previously. And while accidents happen (car wrecks for example) it's pretty hard to accidentally kill someone with your own hands. It's a rare person that can punch someone in a way to cause instant death, for example. Strangling takes enough time that you have time to reconsider your actions so death by strangulation is always automatically premeditated. Any weapon used (gun or knife for example) also means the person carrying out the act is aware they might cause death to the other person. MOO.

And there it is - just in case anyone is still doubtful it was solicitation for murder. Now, whether that will stick for the formal charges remains to be seen but right now, they believe they have the evidence for it.

Even though logic dictated this was a likely scenario, it still hurts to see it officially stated. Because that little sliver of hope you still had is taken away and it’s just empty...Very glad they were able to make an arrest though as well. Every one of these just drives me insane at how senseless it all is, and how people think they have any right to take another’s life...and for what??! I did always think if this likely scenario played out it would have been a crime of passion type thing, like a snapping moment. I, like most of you am shocked by the Solicitation charge and that it was obviously planned ahead. I hope ALL responsible face justice and all the prayers out to Kelsey’s baby and family. Such a sad ending...

the more we learn about him , the more I believe he was probably abusive to her and she just probably hid it from her loved ones , which is very sad, she doesn't seem to have a "bestie " I wonder if he isolated her on purpose , I'm betting so .[/QUOTE]

BBM So true! I bet in time we'll find that she had a nice network of friends and family until she moved to be closer to him. He is the reason that she probably didn't have many people in her life other than him in Colorado. Good points!

When I heard there is a Solicitation charge, the immediate thought that entered my mind was that murder for hire often ends up being about $$$$. I've always believed and continue to believe that money is a primary motive. I wonder if KB took out a life insurance policy when she became a mother. Regardless, as closest next of kin, her child would be her beneficiary. Money and custody....IMO, they are inextricably linked in this case. JMO.

I swear I am having a visceral reaction to this photo. I LOATHE this skin wearing, smug looking, non caring, murderous .

Kelsey was by all accounts a good, wholesome young woman with a wonderful caring and loving family. She was fooled by this psychopath from the start, and discarded like garbage somewhere unknown when she didn't conform to his will. IMO

GRRRRR  Will this ever stop hurting so much?? :(

Regarding solicitation: I'm wondering about the two knuckleheads that accompanied PF to waste management. Wonder if LE interviewed them, applied some heat and one of them admitted to something beyond the dump visit; a call from PF asking for help in the act of murdering or the disposal of KB? I'm certain we will know much more in the next week or so. Just a thought.
This is the first I've heard of 'solicitation'. The DA stated it has to be more than a discussion regarding assisting in the murder.

Along those lines I wonder how LE can charge the two guys who went to the dump. If these two part time or full time ranch hands or even close friends and PF merely asked them to help him load a truck and then help him at the waste management facility. Do they have to have explicit knowledge that what they are taking to the facility contains evidence? Can PF be charged with solicitation if the two did have knowledge of what they were doing?

If they did have knowledge I would imagine they would be charged as accessory to murder.

I am so so sorry that this was the outcome, for Kelsey and her baby and all her family, while I am so thankful little K is safe and loved with her mom’s family now. This was a much faster arrest than I expected and I am looking forward to learning how LE unraveled PF’s lies. Solicitation??

Last night after they were taking large flat objects like drywall or cupboards out of KB"s house. I wondered if what they found at the trash was a large quantity of cleaning products-bleach, maybe paint that would indicate a possible crime scene cleanup and that was enough to get a search warrant and luminol the place last night. Who knows, it could have been something else that prompted it.
I was thinking along the same lines. Chlorine bleaches can remove a bloodstain to the naked eye but fortunately, forensics experts can use luminol or phenolphthalein to show that haemoglobin is present.
