I really think he PLAYED at being a cowboy. Many people that have cattle that I know also have another job and raise the cattle as a sideline.

Reminds me of the old joke:

"A rancher won a million dollars in the lottery. The news reporter asks him what he plans to do with the money and he says 'Keep ranching until it's gone.'"

Jmo not sure whether or not he is a “real” cowboy or rancher matters...we already know he is likely to be proved as far worse than a fake cowboy.

And regardless of Kelsey having grown up on a farm, I have doubts as to whether she was seeking a “farmer.” She had trained and entered into a very high tech, skilled career, more likely ideally she would want to be with a similarly motivated person. But for whatever reason, they clicked, and she must have seen a great deal in him at some point to move away, start a new life and even begin a family with the idea of marriage.

And at some later point, it all went wrong. She may not even have known how strongly he was reacting to their shakier or recently ended relationship, maybe he stewed quietly while he plotted. He may have seen that she didn’t really need him in her life, and that in order to have full access to the baby, he decided it would be best if she was not in the picture. Am just guessing, like everyone else, but I just don’t think the ranch/farm aspect was a factor for her. Jmo

At first, I thought Kelsey might have even still been alive and even maybe sent the texts herself...if something didn’t go bad until after she and a traveling companion reached ID.

But now I think someone else (maybe who already had reason to be in Idaho) took the phone out there, turned it on, and disposed of it.

As soon as I heard she had texted work to say she wouldn't be in but had told her mom nothing of the sort, I felt strongly she had not been the one that sent the text. Made me immediately suspect the fiance or else some other acquaintance who would have known to send the text to her workplace.

Thinking about brothers on the force and mom being an RN, he could have had her convinced that if she ever dared to leave him, that they would smear her name, falsely accuse her of abuse etc...
If she was in an abusive situation, she may have thought no one would believe her.
Why Cinnamon rolls?
The neighbor said he never stayed overnight. That sounds like something one would make for breakfast after a "spend the night party"
I wonder, was any eaten?
Did it have only his DNA on it?
(Like the pizza from the case where the family was killed. - I forget the last name)
THAT could be why they believe she was killed on Thanksgiving- none of her DNA on the buns???
Moo

What? Cinnamon rolls are hardly an unusual breakfast food or something one might only eat after an overnight hookup. We have them on almost every holiday and birthday. Why? Because they are delicious. And it’s only my daughter and I.

Or one of the other properties his mom owns. They only searched the one where he lives, right?
Mom only owns one property in Teller county. Not so sure of any in surrounding counties.

OT but speaking of having our internet history examined...I am doing my will and final wishes, etc of late, as I am nearing 60 and live alone with pets, and you never know...anyway I am busy arranging money and homes for my pup & kitty, having bills paid, pre-paying cremation etc...(sorry to be morbid) but just now thought...who will end up with my devices and will their curiosity get the best of them lol...

Exactly. In the early days, my only question was if this was foul play or not.

If it was foul play, then it had to be someone very close to her, someone who had a vested interest in misdirection.

Cowboy Pat.

That did make me wonder, especially after her family said she and her mom stayed in close contact, but what makes it so difficult is that every person’s “normal” is different. If I was having a hard time and wanted a week away to re-think things, for example, my mom isn’t on the list of people I would text. I’d honestly probably try to mention it to as few people as possible...especially if I felt like people might judge me.

What do you think?

Do you think some of the trash confiscated at the dump pointed LE back to her house, the apparent crime scene?

Or do you think a friend of PF is talking...?

Other explanations for what got the case moving?

Just curious.
I am also curious not just about the dump, but also that red truck LE towed from F’s ranch. Was it returned? Maybe they found evidence in there too.

Other than cattle, what other livestock, if any, were on the ranch?

*edit- spelling

I think Ann Rule was the best true-crime writer (JMO), but I have always liked the genre because of learning about how murderers get caught and their psychology. My husband prefers fiction, including horror. He says true crime is scary because it's real. I say horror is scarier because it is often based on true crime but taken many steps further, and is very revealing of writers' thoughts.
I'm an author and write both genres - true crime and fiction (mystery/suspense). As they say, true crime can be stranger than fiction. Some stories, like Chris Watts, you just can't make up (at least I couldn't bring myself to imagine the horror that his family endured at his hands). Then you have some cases like KB and PF that really hit you in the gut and leave you pondering how the hell did something like this happen?

I’m trying to decide (but need more info, whenever they feel they can share it) ... did he dump her relatively close to home, but drive the phone to Idaho, or had someone else drive it there? Or is Kelsey’s body in Idaho or further out? I know we’ve said it’s risky to drive a body far away. I’m torn. Since at least one person knows where the body is, I hope he/they eventually tell.

It’s possible (and hopeful) that by the time the trial rolls around, lots of pieces of evidence will have converged.

For example, I think it’s likely they have...

Unreleased video footage of Kelsey besides the Safeway one

Unreleased video footage of PF’s locations in the days that followed

Records of unusual phone activity from both their phones

Witnesses who have come forward to say they have reason to believe he would be violent

Friends of hers who come forward to say there were serious relationship issues

Evidence from the trash dump

Evidence of a crime from her house

Evidence he solicited someone else

What else am I missing?

Doesn't seem like they are doing that or he would not have a public defender now. Maybe mama finally cut the apron strings when he was arrested? Or perhaps the place can't be mortgaged any more than it already is? JMO.
Maybe, maybe not. He's only just been arrested. It takes time to apply and get a mortgage approved.

I’m pretty sure I’m on a watch list somewhere....Kidding. Gallows humor. MOO
People who just think I am weird, husband already rolls his eyes at me, my friends think I am nuts.. no one wants to discuss any of these cases but you guys so I come here lol. I was looking up Heather Elvis today, I am not familiar with all of it but my best friend lives in that neighborhood and i recall the news about her. Crazy case.

my opinion:
she is in colorado

i 100% believe now the phone was taken to idaho by someone else or he shipped it to someone he knows in idaho.

just based on wording of LEO when talking about said phone. they seem like they knew where it was and I highly doubt pat was giving them that info.

I don’t necessarily think it’s risky to drive a body that far. It’s for sure creepy, but risky? If the body was concealed, then I don’t think it’s that big of a risk. I have never been stopped by LE out of state and have only been stopped a couple times in my life (for speeding) within the state. If you make sure your lights work and don’t speed, as long as your record is clean and you haven’t been using some substance, even in the unlikely event you get pulled over, I think...well, no officer has ever asked to search my trunk.
