Suhr said she always knew what she was doing (trying to gather information about #Schelling) and never fell in love with #Lucas. The plan to get close to Lucas was orchestrated by one of Suhr's friends, who was in communication with Schelling's mom, Laura Saxton. @KOAA

The defense points out that Suhr was lying to #Lucas the whole time, and tried to have her admit she was having sex with him in exchange for information. Suhr would not categorize herself as a "sex informant," which she was called by the defense. @KOAA

A star witness in the #donthelucas murder trial was murdered by gunshot in Denver last Friday. Investigative sources say Roxanne Martin was going to testify that Lucas confessed to her. Denver police have not found a connection to the Lucas case. Pueblo County DA Jeff Chostner

The prosecutors addressed this briefly in court earlier this week. They said they had been unable to track her down to bring her to testify and say she was absconding from bail.

Update from the rest of the morning session. Knaub says improved technology allows CBI to interpret DNA results differently, though not much changed with what he found in the 45 items submitted to him, the reason for some later testing dates in 2019.

Now, let's go through what we heard from the CBI forensic scientist who took the stand today. He testified to LOTS of different tests he ran on around 45 items of evidence. If we hop to the defense's cross-examination, it really gets to the point of these tests quickly. @KOAA

SCHELLING/LUCAS TRIAL DAY 11: A woman testified that in 2016, she had a relationship with Lucas to potentially get information out of him. She said Lucas eventually proposed to her and they were romantically involved, but said she was playing a part.

Trace #DNA of #Lucas was found inside a pair of gloves and two sweatshirts. No blood was detected in #Schelling's car. No blood was found on two knives collected. The white stain in #Schelling's car was negative for saliva. @KOAA

Laura Saxton, #Schelling's mom, was called to the stand again. She testified that #Schelling's car was never in California, and the prosecution admitted a picture taken of the dash of the car through Saxton. @KOAA

Saxton got choked up when identifying her daughter's birth certificate, passport, and an expired passport from when #Schelling was "just a little girl." It was the most emotional moment in the courtroom today by far, watching a mother look at these remnants of her daughter. @KOAA

But, those documents of #Schelling's were kept with Saxton. Schelling did not have a passport at the time of her disappearance. We start back up at 2 - I'm heading into the courtroom now. @KOAA

Even with the news of a witness death, I'm still here to give updates on what's going on in trial today.

DAY 11 (1/2): A woman testified that in 2016, she had a relationship with Lucas to potentially get information out of him. She said Lucas eventually proposed to her and they were romantically involved, but said she was playing a part. She said she never fell in love with Lucas and that the relationship was organized by her and her friend, who was apparently in contact with Kelsie’s mom.
This woman testified Lucas admitted to her about being on the surveillance footage of driving Kelsie’s car to Walmart and dropping it off at St. Mary Corwin, where it was ultimately discovered. She said she told CBI all of the information she had, but ultimately ended the relationship with Lucas in 2017

BREAK: Guess who's back? Well, CBI Agent Kevin Torres never really left. He's been sitting in on the trial consistently. He tells us that #Schelling's car drove around 165 miles between Feb. 5 and 7 - between it being dropped at Walmart, and ending up at St. Mary-Corwin. @KOAA

He testifies to the many steps the CBI took when they became the lead agency on the case in 2016 (#Schelling's family filed a lawsuit against the #Pueblo Police Department at that time). We also saw photos of the interior of Vivian Lucas (Lucas' grandmother's) home. @KOAA

We also spoke to Martinez's cousin exclusively. He believes her murder does have to do with the #DontheLucas trial, even though Denver police have said they believe there's no connection. It's still an open case. @KOAA

Sara Lucas apparently said it was around 9 or 9:30 AM on February 5, and that she talked to #DontheLucas in the living room. Apparently, she thought #KelsieSchelling was either in the room with an “X” or in the twins’ room, according to Agent Torres testimony. @KOAA

The “X” is the room that belonged to #Lucas, even though he apparently regularly used the room marked “twins.” In an interview with Denver Detective Ted Binet, Sara Lucas told him about going into the home on the morning of Feb. 5, and seeing #DontheLucas in the home. @KOAA
