PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - UPDATE (6/12): A disposition hearing was held Tuesday ahead of Donthe Lucas' trial.

11 News tried to enter the courtroom for the hearing, but the judge granted a request from prosecutors and the defense attorney to close the courtroom.

Because of that, details are limited. However, 11 News learned that Lucas' grandmother, Vivian Lucas, testified on the details of what happened when Kelsie Schelling came down to Pueblo from Denver before her disappearance.

What we know thus far (and that DL can't keep his hospitals or story straight):

1) Schelling was last seen at the Walmart store in the 4000 block of West Northern Avenue in Pueblo on Feb. 4, 2013.

2) She reportedly texted a photo of her eight-week ultrasound to Lucas, then made the two-hour trip from Denver to Pueblo to meet Lucas at his request (saying he had a surprise for her).

3) She arrived at the Walmart just after 11 p.m., and nearly an hour later, texted that she was “tired of waiting.”

4) Lucas asked her to meet on a street near his grandmother’s house; a half hour later, she wrote: “Where are you … I’ve been here for over an hour just waiting.”

5) She was never heard from again.

6) Lucas later withdrew $400 (2/5/13 @ 11:37 AM) from an ATM using Schelling’s card (allegedly with permission to pay his cell phone bill). He was also seen driving her vehicle to the Walmart parking lot.

7) On Feb. 7, 2013, someone wearing a hoodie was seen driving off in the car from the Walmart parking lot. KS car was later found at St. Mary Corwin Hospital.

8) 5/24/18 hearing -- According to two officers who testified Thursday, Lucas is the only person to admit to seeing Schelling on Feb. 5, 2013. She was last seen by everyone else on Feb. 4, 2013

9) Chad Sinnema with the Denver Police Department said Lucas allegedly told him that he had gone to Parkview Medical Center with Schelling on Feb. 4, where she learned she was no longer pregnant. Schelling dropped Lucas off on the morning of Feb. 5 (between 3 - 5 AM), and it was the last time he saw her, Sinnema said Lucas told him.

10) A different story: Detective Binet told the courtroom that according to Lucas, Schelling came to Pueblo to see a doctor about her pregnancy. Lucas told police they parked in the Walmart parking lot on the city's south side but got in a fight and Schelling kicked him out. (Lucas also told Binet 10 a.m. on Feb. 5 was the last time he saw Schelling -- several hours later than the 3-5 a.m. Lucas told Sinnema).

11) Neither Parkview Medical Center or St Mary Corwin Hospital had record of Schelling ever being treated there. GPS on KS phone showed it traveled to the same location in Pueblo as Lucas' phone -- and did not show her ever visiting Parkview.

I don't care where he goes, I'll be shocked if they can find anyone that doesn't know him...

Well maybe older people that are not local..

He needs to hang!

I hope Kelsie is found before the trial. At the very least, maybe someone will start talking and that will help LE build their case.

It's been my belief all along that someone other than Donthe and his mom, knows what happened to Kelsie. Hopefully, they will have the courage to share what they know with the cops so that Kelsie and her little one can have justice.

Thinking of Kelsie's family and friends as they prepare for another holiday season without her. Kelsie would now be enjoying a vibrant, child playing in fresh snowfall, and her child experiencing the joy of creating a colorful turkey with feathers with the rest of his classmates. Justice cannot come too soon. MOO

Kelsie Schelling went missing from Pueblo, Colorado on the night of February 4, 2013, after driving there from her home in Denver to meet her boyfriend, Donthe Lucas. The 21-year-old was two months pregnant with the couple's child, a reported stress point in the relationship. Video released by the Pueblo Police Department shows Schelling’s black 2011 Chevrolet Cruze parked in front of a Walmart store around noon the following day. The vehicle had been left there overnight. The next day at 7:20 a.m., an unidentified man can be seen getting into Schelling’s car and driving away. The car was found abandoned a week later at Saint Mary Corwin Medical Center. In November of 2017, tips led police to conduct searches in several different areas of Pueblo in connection with Kelsie’s case, but authorities told Dateline they were unable to find anything of significance.

On December 1, 2017, police arrested Donthe Lucas for the first-degree murder of Kelsie. In August of 2018, Lucas pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. His trial is set for April of 2019. Police said because the investigation remains active, they cannot provide details on what led to the arrest. Police told Dateline they have not found Kelsie’s remains.

Just read about this story. So tragic, but glad they charged the killer.

Probably long for parents; however, almost all murder trials that I have followed take at least two years. There is a good chance it won't happen in April. Lawyers constantly file for continuances and set the trial date out further and further.

Trial of Donthe Lucas in Kelsie Schelling disappearance could get pushed back

A three-week trial for Lucas has been scheduled to begin on April 2, but Garibay told the judge Monday that because of an expanding endorsed witness list in the case that is bordering on 200 individuals, the trial may have to be moved to a later date to allow more time for preparation. Garibay said the defense recently was presented with an additional 125 witnesses from the prosecution on top of a list of 64. A change in date of the trial will be addressed at a later time.
