Sheriff says she is sure he is hiding somewhere and will come out safely. I hope they don't put too much stock in this. I hope it's true, but at this point, I'm not betting on it.

Above YouTube confirms my belief. There is something horribly wrong here.

80 miles of ground to search...FAA looking for flight pattern.

Wild goose chases going on now as they are scouring several locations where people claim to have "seen" something fall.

OK--I have a beef that this father was working with helium (which is highly flammable) and put his children in a dangerous situation in the first place. I think the family should be charged for all the emergency vehicles, helicopters, etc that were resourced for this emergency!

They need to find out exactly what happened from the brothers.

(snip)
Police say the family's two boys were playing outside with the rest of the family inside the house. One son watched his little brother go inside the compartment and watched it take off

i sure hope your right!! but i can see some little kid crawling inside not thinking that the other one was going to untie the thing....ugh, not good

Helium is not flammable, hydrogen is flammable.

WTH is this about a TV show called "Wife Swap"? Is there such a show? If so I'm more sure than ever about my decision to only used the damned thing for movies. And Top Gear.

Actually Wife Swap is one of those guilty pleasure shows. It's great to see Moms get put into other peoples' families and watch everyone squirm. The religious nut put into a family of atheists??? Priceless.

Basket was not breached...does not appear anyone could have fallen out of it. per HLN

I'm leaving for a store run.

I'll be back and praying that he was just hiding somewhere. I'm not too jaded to hope.

The boy's father Richard Heene is a known storm chaser. During an appearance on the television program WifeSwap, Heene and his wife, Mayumi, focused on their love of science.

The Denver Post writes that Richard Heene is a storm chaser, an amateur scientist and is part of a duo called the Psyience Detectives along with former TV weatherman Scott Stevens. The two began a project in which they researched how to better predict storm movements.
