I *think* the girls were in their pajamas when they were killed and I say that because the assumption is they were killed in their beds. With such a early bedtime, I would think they'd put on pajamas and then climb into bed. Of course this only works if they were in fact killed in their beds.

What time was the party again? And I wonder if they still napped.

I had always thought the birthday party was on Saturday, and the grilling was on Sunday. But it seems from the threads that everybody is saying the birthday party was on Sunday, although I have never seen that on mainstream media.

I bet he didn't even know that it was in the trash. IMO Shannan put it there when she discovered someone else had been sleeping in her bed. CW thought she had taken the sheets and tossed them in the laundry, but she didn't want to ever use them again...
Had he noticed them he would have got rid of them, I am sure. He keeps getting tripped up in details.

I can't imagine being in a house, in and out at least, and not using the kitchen trash can and noticing that bed sheets and pillowcases are in the trash and or in the garage. That scenario does not fly for me in my opinion

Wait what? Did this go over my head the first time?

“The documents state: "The woman died as a result of the unlawful termination of the pregnancy."

Chris Watts murder case: Everything we know so far about the deaths of his wife, daughters
I keep wondering about this as well! Any insight from @gitana1 or @Bill Carson ? Is it just wording that we don’t understand? It totally comes across as him stabbing in the stomach or something. But I’m unsure if the wording is just weird and they really mean that she was murdered and it killed the baby? (I can’t figure out how to explain myself and feel like I’m not communicating effectively - sorry if this doesn’t make sense!).

Old WS'er but haven't posted since Casey Anthony. I've been watching for these to come up but so far nothing, so thought I'd pipe in. I hope you all can answer these or at least explore/discuss.
The biggest question is how many baby monitors did they have? Recently AB said the girls had separate bedrooms. CW says he saw SW on the baby monitor doing that horrible thing and he was able to see both girls. If only one monitor, why were the girls together at 2am instead of their own beds.
Another question... CW was fired from his company the same day he was arrested. Why? A company cannot fire someone just for having been arrested, can they? (Innocent until proven guilty). Anyone in HR to answer that? Do they have evidence against CW by way of gps or cameras? And why did CW's company pay for the funeral? That seems odd.
TIA

As an HR Manager who has written (many) policy manuals, I can address the termination aspect......

Most employers have a statement regarding "Employment at Will". The statement generally says something like:
"[Company] has the right to terminate any employee for any reason....."

Employers also have statements identifying conduct that may result in immediate termination. Such as: "In cases of serious misconduct, an employee is likely to be terminated immediately." The list may include several things (theft, harassment, aggressive behavior, etc.), but almost always includes "any action that violates federal, state or local law."

IMO, I believe disposing of human remains on company property (for which he has been charged with murdering- gosh I hate typing that :(), would fall into this category.

Edited by me for typo's.

IIRC, he was alerted that the friend was at the door and he contacted her to say, "What's up?"

Which is weird. If everything were okay, why would he call his wife's friend who stopped by? You'd assume your wife would do the communicating with her friend. The friend knew something was up, and CW's actions confirmed it.

So, perhaps he hopped in his truck and was already on the way home before he even called the friend. IDK, but I do think he was on his way home well before LE talked to him about the garage code.

You can talk through the doorbell camera, they may not have actually talked on the phone. Sometimes my husband talks to me through our camera when he gets an alert that I'm out front. I also like scaring solicitors when they come by. Lol

You answer the Ring on your phone and talk. Or you don’t answer.
If you answer and talk, you end the call just like a phone call. 1 party has to hang up.

We have a Ring doorbell at front door and a Nest video camera that covers driveway and street. My Ring doorbell “alerts” when it gets windy or when it rains or when a cat walks down the walkway at 3:24 am.
Same thing with the Nest video camera- alerts when there is motion or sound, and you get a “still image” of car or walkers and dogs or a spider in front of the sensor at night. The image is accompanied by the word sound or motion.

If you polled my neighbors they would say no one has cameras when there are at least 6 houses on our street with cameras. Some are Nest and some are really high end. I see them when I walk our dogs.

My point to you all - I get so many alerts I don’t pay attention to them.
CW must have switched to the “live view” so he could monitor continously when he left the house.
Hi OTPTarheel20018,
I have multiple brands of video cams and one of the cams and I still receive alerts when I am in live screen view and it is recorded.
I do not have a Ring, I prefer the ones I have. When you switch to live view on your ring OTPT, do you still receive alerts and are they recorded?
Thank you.

Yes, there are also photos confirming the girls had separate bedrooms. I don't believe its been reported how many baby monitors but I presume there was one in each room or 2 total. What has been reported is that CW looked at the monitor "located on SW side of bed and/or nightstand." Perhaps the second monitor was located on CW side or nightstand. The arrest affidavit is posted on several threads and media forum detailing that LE had consent of Employer to use drones at CERVI tank site, and they located SW prior to CW confession. Colorado is also right to work State so firing valid but I don't think you should worry that CW was unjustly terminated. Lastly, I consider posts that Anadarko paid for funerals a rumor as I don't believe this story corroborated in any MSN, and only read it here.

Thanks JDough. But at the time he was fired he had not confessed yet... right? I now understand, I guess, that he could have been fired for *no* reason, and the fact that he was arrested was enough to have them do so. I was wondering though if the company had more info such as knowing somehow he had gone through that gate and when, or if they somehow detected him thru gps or cameras at the tank site.

Snipped by me

Bingo. I think this is it.

He was facing the shame of yet another financial disaster (not their first) plus his infidelities. The upcoming meeting with HOA about finances makes me think they missed payments not only to HOA but to the bank too (speculation), a home which is featured in the livestreams for the business. That would not only be an embarrassment from family and friends, but from their "public" and clients, etc.

Walking out on a pregnant wife while having affair(s) and in the midst of financial problems looks terrible! Duh. Lots of shame was about to happen.

But if his wife "disappeared with the kids" he would have an excuse for his life falling apart and could blame her for not sticking around to help.

Their problems were not insurmountable, but he reacted as if they were - and I think that reaction was likely due to shame (more than narcissism).

My opinion at the moment.

I still don't understand how he thought he could make her and the girls just disappear. What about her business and team? Her family? The car? Whatever he did, the affair would almost certainly come out.

I think a (fake) kidnapping makes more sense.

How long was he working for the oilfield.

I'm disappointed he wasn't knocking on the doors of nearby NASCAR for a job. Seems ideal for him.

Here is a potential timeline of employment. Feel free to make corrections if needed:

2012 Watts married in NC. SW, who was previously married, sold the NC home she & CW had been living in (including furniture) and quickly moved to CO. SW stated she wanted a change, and she felt CO was “drama free.” She had a good friend who had recently moved to CO, and the Watts lived with her & her family upon first moving out there. SW earned her keep by nannying for her friend’s children. CW got his job at the Ford dealership. It should be noted he clearly had an interest in cars, and his father held a similar position in NC.
I do not know when SW became employed at the dealership, but my guess is that she must’ve started weekends or evenings to supplement their income during this time period. We know they were trying to save up for a down payment.

2013 The Watts bought their home on Saratoga Trail for $400,000. They had to use an FHA loan and only put several thousand dollars down. This resulted in a monthly mortgage payment of $3,000. This likely included MIP insurance premiums which are notorious.

2014 We know SW became pregnant with their first child, Bella. I believe becoming a mother is likely what caused her to stop nannying & working weekends at the dealership. My assumption only. She began her job working in a call center at a hospital at some point in late 2013/early 2014. CW is still at the dealership.

2015 In June 2015, the couple declare Ch 7 bankruptcy. In the filing SW is listed as working at the call center & earning $18/hr. It also states CW began a job at Anadarko 6 months earlier, which would mean Jan 2015. He is listed as earning $61,500/year. We also know SW became pregnant with their second child, Celeste (CeCe) during this time.
Why did he change jobs? I don’t know. We know his income was falling per the bankruptcy filing. Perhaps he was laid off or perhaps the dealership had to cut his pay for some reason. Maybe his wife wanted him to have more of a 9-5 job now that they were parents.

2016 SW starts MLM w/LeVel to supplement income.

2017 SW posts she’s “retiring” from the call center after 4 years to be a SAHM & sell THRIVE full-time.

2018 SW is working her way up the ranks with THRIVE, CW has now been with Anadarko for 3 years. We do not know their income at this time. We do know their HOA was suing them for $1,533.80 in unpaid dues.

Regarding the firing, I expect that Anadarko was asked to pull up tracking data for CW, and when they did that, they discovered that he had been to areas he wasn't supposed to be working on. And they fired him for it immediately and cooperated with the police.

And yes, the office affair would be another reason to fire him.

I also suspect that Anadarko may have been paying for his work cell phone, computer, or communications equipment, and that this other equipment was trackable, too. So whether or not he had a GPS on his truck, the equipment he carried with him left a trail of clues.

I am sure that Anadarko wanted to be sure that CW was described in all of the press releases and conferences as a "former employee" and not a "current employee."

Everything I have read about DNA testing for antidepressants suggests that it is of limited benefit, and anyway is to establish which drugs will work best and have fewest side effects. Nothing specific about violent reactions in males. I’d be interested to see any research that does mention violent reactions though.
This is a link to the latest research I know of on the subject. There is also a link to another website focused on this topic if you want even more information...

I'm hoping CW's pathetic attempt at blaming SW will be quickly quashed and the prosecution will set out the events as the evidence is produced. This is where it gets tricky because if it can't be proven CW planned the murders well in advance, the next scenario would be something like the MacDonald case, I think, which would still be a good outcome. An argument turned physical which led to the deaths of his pregnant wife and 2 daughters. (MacDonald was convicted of one count of first-degree murder in the death of Kristen and two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Colette and Kimberly).

One of the children or SW could be second-degree murder or involuntarily manslaughter, and the murder of the other child or SW (which ever way the evidence presents itself), is first-degree murder. There isn't any way out for him with the first-degree murder charge for at least one of the victims, imo. I should hope he'll be found guilty of the one count of unlawful termination of pregnancy and two counts of tampering with a deceased human body without a doubt.

This case has brought me back to WS, I thought I'd had enough of following trials. I just can't understand what went wrong, if CW was unhappy with his life he could have walked out the door.
I'm wondering if shame was a big factor in his disordered mind. CW can't handle other's being disappointed in him. Otherwise, I haven't a clue, there must have been red flags earlier though, imo.

This case is so similar to the MacDonald case, it's eerie. Pregnant wife and two daughters in both cases. Narco husband. Big-time BS story. In this case the investigation was much better and timely and, I believe, justice will be swift and terrible!

Saw a post recently, on a MacDonald board, that MacDonald recently suffered a stroke. I follow this particular board, as well the WebSleuth thread, because the MacDonald case is still in the courts (4th Circuit)!

But he confessed after he was arrested and talked with his dad. Also regarding the baby monitor, if only one (probably in Cece's room) and if all of that supposedly happened in a "moment" I think his story falls apart right off the bat.

Since he probably took time off work with his family being "missing," they could have retroactively fired him. They also likely knew something before CW was informed by LE. His work was cooperating with LE.

Great post. Kudos. And, any equipment like phones and laptops, that Anadarko owns, LE needs only their permission for access, not CW's! Am I correct in assuming that? Legal Eagles?

The bedding makes no sense. When I am changing sheets I throw everything on the floor . So having a stripped bed would not be that unusual per se.

But throwing the sheets and pillowcase in the garbage? Is there a scenario that anyone can think of that he could use to implicate SW?

He had an original plan I am sure that was totally upset by the late plane and NU .

Why not wash the sheets and remake the bed? Of course, a bottom sheet is missing .

I doubt if SW is like me. I bought sheets from a high end store when they went on clearance. I would buy each piece separately . Usually there was no set so they only matched in color. I imagine SW’s sheets were totally matched and a missing one would stand out.

So what’s up with linens in the trash?
First, I seriously doubt laundry and making 3 beds on Monday morning was a high priority for CW when he had to load and dispose 3 dead bodies a leave by 5:27AM! I believe throwing anything in the trash was to get rid of evidence. If CW smothered the girls with their pillows, he would probably put the pillow slips in trash, and same for the sheets where their little bodies rested.

We had a family breakfast this morning and I am very behind, but the sheet that was found near the recovery location was described as matching the pattern of the top sheet and pillowcases in the kitchen trash. If CW strangled Shanann on the master bed, that pattern would be ingrained in his mind and he may have trashed the sheet and pillowcases just so he didn't have to see it ever again.

Hi everyone, been on Websleuths forever but rarely post, I'm sure I have had more than 3 likes!
Back to business, some threads ago I followed a link from a MSM newspaper to a Twitter account of a woman who claimed she had an affair with CW which ended in March/April this year.

(snipped for space)

Hi Gecko! Me too- been a member for a while and came back to follow this case after a long break and suddenly no likes at all!... makes our opinions look quite unpopular :D Anyway, haven't had time to catch up on pages of posts already this morning, so I haven't seen others' thoughts yet, but I'm very interested in learning more about this possible affair. Much more will come out I'm sure about CW's private life. Fascinating to me that people can present such a different face on social media.

The sheets were not noted to be in the trash can when Nicole was there. It only stated bedding upstairs. We don't know if the bedding was upstairs included the sheets and they did not search the trash cans when they were there that day.

Note to self! If somebody is missing check their trash cans.

I can just imagine Nicole's cell phone taking pics of everything as soon as she got in and discovered Shanann was not there. She probably handed those photos over the LE by now (backups, I would imagine). Someone as alert as she was would be looking and snapping at the same time. All those photos would be time stamped. Even if police didn't take photos of everything that first day, I would bet Nicole did. JMO
