Wow, it’s as if she doesn’t even want to be there with them.
I’d be back there walking with my grandchild and daughter in law with the video camera going!
It makes her behaviour in her interviews make sense. Seems like she made no effort with them then, she’s like a pressure cooker now. Steaming with her vile lies anD hatred MOO

Apologies if this has already been answered but, IIRC there is a video floating around here somewhere that showed them "meeting MiMi at the airport". I don't recall if Mr. W was there or not.
Thanks....I just watched one that was posted

Moderators are allowed to have opinions in cases. Our mods are able to moderate fairly and have an opinion on a case.

On rare occasions, when I felt a moderator was not being fair and was too involved in a case, I have removed them without hesitation. This has not happened in ages.

Our moderators today have never given me a moment's hesitation when it comes to being fair when moderating. I have the utmost confidence in all of them

Thank you to all our incredible mods who work so hard to keep Websleuths the best place to discuss true crime on the Internet.

I found this when googling. Looks like they were having a good time. Notice how CW’s father places his hand on CW’s Mom’s back around 1.0. Looks to me like he loves her.
He probably does love her, but he’s also well aware of her strained relationship with SW and doesn’t want any trouble in front of the grandkids. So he has to make sure he’s paying some attention to her too. The proverbial peacemaker.

‘He's not that monster': Parents of Chris Watts speak out on murders of wife, daughters

“The minimum sentence on all five murder counts is life in prison without parole, according to Watts’ signed guilty plea. Unlawful termination of a pregnancy carries a sentence of 16 to 48 years in prison and up to $1 million in fines.

Tampering with a body carries a sentence of four to 12 years in prison and a fine of up to $750,000, the document said.”

Do you think the judge will impose a fine on top of the prison time at sentencing?

Do we know if his parents ever visited them in Colorado?

I'm going to need help with a link for the correct video, but on the video that was played on murder rap sesh 14, where Shan'ann is promoting Thrive, Shan'ann makes a comment that she just picked up her mother-in-law from the airport.

I have no idea which video of Shan'ann's this is. If anyone could find it, that would be great. It's just a quick comment, but it showed me that at least CW's mom must have visited them in CO at least once.

Judging from his comments in the tv interviews he’s not playing peacemaker now or sitting on the fence. He has participated as much as his wife has in the interviews

I have no clue if Ms W is controlling of her husband or anyone else. I do think, based on her actions/words, past and present, she is an extremely malicious human being. As far as SW goes, it appears Ms W has always been spinning a vicious, vile web of loathing and Mr W and her daughter share that web. To not have attended CW& SW's wedding Is unacceptable to me. Parents may not always approve of their child's choice of a spouse but there is nothing in my book that forgives something like that (short of your child marrying a murderer, and how ironic is that now). I am in disbelief that Ms W has gone beyond the pale with her comments about SW in recent days and to a national/world audience. She is hollow of any dignity.
And notice her husband was not sitting with her during that interview. Perhaps he is pulling back from supporting her plight. I sure hope she doesn’t do something drastic to him too!

Ronnie Watts said, “It boils down to: I just want the truth of what really happened. If he did it all, I can live with it. If he didn't, I want him to fight for it”.

RW said he believes what Chris told police – that he killed his wife only after finding out she had strangled their daughters. "It's hard for me to believe that he would hurt them girls no matter what. The story he told me that night, I believed it: The way he looked at me, the way he was crying, I believed it”.

Compare the above to what his mother said when asked whether Chris was capable of killing their children:

"I would say she's more capable than Christopher. Christopher, I don't see him capable at all but if something happened that night and that did happen -- God forbid if it did happen -- what was the trigger? Why? What happened? I just want the truth because he's not the sociopath next door. He's not the kind of person that would do something like that. I have to know why. I have to know. It's important to me. … I just want to know what triggered it.

It has been a nightmare – a complete nightmare. I cry in the morning. I cry during the day. I cry when someone comes up and gives me a hug. I cry with all these messages I get for support. It has been so overwhelming, and I feel like I have to do something to help my son. I need to do something. If he's not going to fight, I'm going to fight for him”.

It says a lot that CW asked to speak to his father before telling LE “the truth”, and it’s obvious that he doesn’t want to come face to face with his mother at all. She said the defence lawyer shut her down but her son has shut her out completely.

Well, she wants to know the truth and come Monday she'll be in for a rude awakening because it's going to be a bad news day for her, not that it will change her mind though.

Not sure on which interview it was but one of them started with the camera zooming in on them holding hands. Anyone know which one? I’m not putting much stock in a gap between them on a sofa. It would say more to me had he stayed silent in the interviews or not partaken in them at all.

Perhaps I was only seeing a part of the interview, sorry for the confusion.:(

They seem incapable of showing compassion. They could easily speak up for CW without bashing SW, once again makes me think of the adages- if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all and don’t speak ill of the dead

Yes. I think a quiet statement about how they are concerned with the rapidity of the plea, not knowing the details of how that came about and not having had the opportunity to talk to him in three weeks, and they want to make sure he knows what he's doing and has been properly advised.

Instead, this.

I know the chances of this are somewhere between none and hell freezing over, but I would sure love to see CW stand up in that courtroom Monday and detail exactly what he did, taking full responsibility, while Mama Watts completely Loses. Her. Mind. and gets escorted out wailing like a banshee.

Sorry not sorry.

Airport: Shanann Watts

Downtown Denver: Shanann Watts

BBM. This wording is absolutely crazy-making. Are they somehow unaware that no one will ever be able to get to know or be around Shanann again? Please stop vaguely hinting about how awful she was and then explaining that the proof of it can only come from getting to know her. Well, we can't. Thanks to Chris. So stop.
Jmo.

Exactly. And what's ironic is plenty of people knew her quite well. And adored her. Except them. Because they were predisposed not to even try so they didn't make the merest attempt. Now she was somehow so dangerous they didn't even go to the wedding? Because they worried about their safety?

Holy delusional smokes.

You're right, MKZoo. We can't have the pleasure of getting to know Shanann because their previous son murdered her in cold blood.

But we are all getting to know the Watts family. Very, very well.

It hurts my heart. I see a woman trying very hard to have a normal family life. And have to deal with a super angry and bitter person for a mother in law.

Such dysfunction, IMO.
