For those familiar with bankruptcy- is it typical to keep a home when you file? Are there conditions about selling said home for profit within a certain time period? The market was on the rise in 2015 so I'm wondering why they didn't sell then. MOO.
In my state we have the homestead act which protects one's home from bankruptcy or civil judgements against the homeowner. So yes, you can keep your home and file bankruptcy. Also there are different types of bankruptcy. There is Chapter 11 and 13 as well and perhaps others. So who knows.

There has been much negative press on the product. Apparently some ingredients need further study because there are no clear proof they in fact do not cause cancer or other issues. I do believe if he does plead not guilty he will be using Thrive as a factor in his defense as others here have opined. It might work, all it takes is reseasonable doubt. I think more people would by sympathetic to him if it was just a not pregnant wife he killed. He killed his pregnant wife and two little girls. That is going to make it very difficult if not impossible to get any reasonable doubt in people's minds. Legally it shouldn't but we are all human and it will figure in during deliberation if it in fact goes to a trial by jury.

He’s gonna have his *advertiser censored* handed to him, and he should. He might not get the DP, but he’ll never walk free again.

That's true about student loans. I'm wondering if they may have also had problems with the IRS. Shanann was very likely responsible for paying taxes on any earnings she had with the MLM company and they may have not planned for taxes on that money, especially if it was needed to pay monthly expenses. IRS debt can grow rapidly with penalties and interest and they are known to be quite aggressive in their collection attempts. Just a thought.

This is correct. I am an accountant and MLM people are most often independent contractors. She was fairly high up (Instagram said 80k VIP) and that means she was making a pretty decent amount of money because of all of the people below her, and could have been receiving an $80,000 bonus payable over 14 months. That is a lot of tax money and I doubt they saved it.

80k VIP means she has sold 80k in product. The commission is 4% at that level. So, $3200.

If she was remaining in that category monthly, her downline would have to continue to sell 80k/month. Often that causes people to go into debt to reach that goal themselves.

Found this: They could have easily sold that house and made a profit! Or even taken out a home equity loan or 2nd mortgage to help make ends meet.

Check out the home I found in Erie

Refi Rates

Property Overview - 2825 Saratoga Trl, Erie, CO 80516 is a single family home built in 2013. This property was last sold for $399,954 in 2013 and currently has an estimated value of $578,400.

They could have sold it, but they may not have been able to refinance or take a home equity loan. They declared bankruptcy in 2015, likely had late pays since then, and their credit scores were probably a real mess.

Looks like the #Watts attorney and police put up something to cover the garage windows from the inside.

#Update : 3 police officers showed up to #Watts house. Door knock and man answered. Looks to be Chris Watts’ defense attorney. Officers and man went inside the home.

A little bit of a commotion outside of the #Watts house in Frederick Colorado. Upset neighbor says he saw several people INSIDE the Watts home just now. Not sure who. Said he saw a camera and has called police.

In the #Watts case, formal murder charges HAVE NOT been filed. I asked the Weld Co DAs office if the DA is considering making this a death penalty case (CO has the death penalty but hasn’t executed anyone in a while). Was told it was too early in the case.

Interesting note on the #Watts case: Frederick PD won’t release IF there were any previous calls of service to the Watts house, citing an open investigation. We even asked for prior calls NOT related to this case. Nope. Writing a records request ASAP.

A group of 5 women & a little girl gather at the memorial for the Watts family in Frederick, CO. Very emotional. We’re keeping back. Friends/neighbors are shocked and angered.

As far as I know there’s been no evidence that he was abusive, and not even any statements from people who knew them saying they thought he was. Domestic violence and emotional abuse are often hidden, insidious and incredibly damaging. And all the posts describing DV, how abusers work and the impact it can have on a person are spot on and I don’t mean to discount any of them. Just saying that may not have been the case here. Has there ever been a case like this where the spouse had no history of abuse and still killed his family?
Many - Scott Peterson rings a bell.

Good point. Finding alternative housing, even rental housing, would have been a real challenge.

After reading through these posts, I’m wondering if things came in the mail, like HOA, credit card, and IRS past-due notices came. He had 6 weeks of picking up the mail, when that would be normally SW’s job (just guessing here). Could it be that he balked after looking at bills?

I'm already majorly pissed at the defense's excuses and reasons why this hateful , bitter man murdered his pregnant wife and two little girls. There is no reason or excuse, none can or should be created. And the trial is nowhere in the future right now. I'm furious with him. I'm furious with his defense team for planning to defend him. Will they try to make people feel sorry for him. Was he overwhelmed by finances, relationship, parenting? Who isn't?

This is all just so frustrating .

The murders of his beautiful family is just heinous. And under my skin and I don't know these people.

I just want to hear sweet wonderful things about Shannan , Celeste, Bella & Nico. I want to hear what Shannan 's plans for the future were. I want to hear her family and friends talk about her & the children.

CW and his reasons, excuses and blame placing can go to hell. And hopefully will very soon .

On a side note: why wouldn't CW want the death penalty? After what he's done does he really want to sit in prison for the rest of his life?

Can someone please paraphrase for us non twitter folks? Tia.
He said the police would not divulge if they had been called to the home before, for any reason. He's going to file a records request. He also reported that neighbors saw movement inside the house, called police, and that the defense attorney opened the door and the police went inside with him.

Multi-level marking, it's companies like Avon, Mary Kay, It Works, etc where you can make money (and sometimes is the main way of making money) by referring others to sell the product under you.
Ah gotcha - I've actually participated in many of those in the past but for some reason never heard them called that before. LOL. I've done Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Southern Living at Home and think I briefly did the candles too at some point. Never made much off of them. What people don't realize is that you have to pay for ALL of your own expenses and most of it you have to get through the company. Now, I think things are easier today. I remember the days of Tupperware, where I had to buy catalogs galore, order forms, had to mail out the mini-catalog-invites, and of course everything was shipping to ME where I had to separate everything, bag it and hand deliver it to the host who then hand delivered it to their guests. Once I factored in all the rest of my expenses, not much was left as a "profit." Plus I was never really able to build that next level. Some people are great at it, some not so much. I never did it full time so I probably didn't give it the best effort.

But I will say this. I have a friend who sells Nerium and she got a Lexus. Lots of trips, etc...for realz.
