You have a loaded gun to your head. Correct answer you live, incorrect answer you die.

Does Barry know where Suzanne is?

Where's your money, yes or no?

I'm "yes," a million times.
Right now I tilt toward no. He doesn’t know where she is. Doesn’t mean I think prosecution can’t win their case if they pull it together, doesn’t mean I don’t think he had means or motive. It does mean I don’t think he left his house that night by foot or by electric bike or any other scenarios people have come up with.

In the Berreth case, law enforcement missed blood in the bathroom, and when that was brought to their attention, missed blood all over the living room.

In the Stauch case they missed blood on the walls (and other locations), a body in the trunk, and allowed the family to remain in the home for days.

In this one, an investigator missed a piece of plastic because he didn't thoroughly search the dryer. It was found though.

These things happen in every case. Hindsight is 20/20.

Are you suggesting it was planted, and then Barry just happened to build an absurd story around it?

The coffee cup is an easy one. Suzanne was murdered before she had a chance to do the dishes.
In the Tia Sharp case here, LE overlooked her poor little body in the attic as her murderer sat downstairs. It happens.

Why would LE plant it anyway? It would mean they had that crazy story in mind all the while.

Re the coffee cup, totally agree. What's the alternative? The mystery partial dna guy came by for a quick cuppa before running his hands over the glove box, ignoring the cash (because you know, he's not all bad) then abducting Suzanne? Only to return to stage the bike.

The problem as I see it with alternative theories to Barry murdering Suzanne is that the different elements cannot be knitted together coherently and consistently.

I'm open to hearing them all but so far nothing I've heard stands up. For me, anyway.

His phone spent all afternoon in airplane mode, then came out of airplane mode for something like a 5 hour period. I'm convinced he wanted his phone tracked.

I'm sure we'll hear a theory as to how he transported the body, but I think it's entirely possible he used his truck and got lucky, and the data just doesn't show it (there are other dark periods for times we know he was using his truck).

I've never been a fan of her being in the immediate vicinity of that house, and taken there by foot or small vehicle. That's just not normal behavior for a killer like this.

I think he got his truck washed for a reason.

Why Suggest Restraining Order?
@rainbowshummingbird bbm
MM2 may not have had a strong logical or legal basis for making the suggestion. Perhaps heard/read of R/O's, passed along the idea? IDK.

Recent posts suggest that a friend's parent's divorce prompted MM2 to say this. But maybe more than just one friend w divorced/ing parents.

Other possibilities? MM2 seeing TV (whether drama, news, or other) w R/O's granted. On the web, a few keystrokes searching "CO divorce" lead to countless websites, blogs, vlogs, podcasts, discussing that & R/O's.

Any number of ways the R/O idea may have come to MM2's attention. my2ct.

This may have already been addressed but I'm behind in reading because I had to leave the threads when folks were traumatizing supporters by telling us this was not a winnable murder case.

I think it's highly likely that MM2 was an eyewitness to Barry physically doing something to her mother in order to make her drastic suggestion for obtaining a restraining order. We know Barry pinned Suzanne down. We know he held a gun to his head. We have seen the damaged mastersuite door jamb crack.

Hence, I feel the only clear reason a 16yo would make such a harsh suggestion that would protect her mother with a restraining order is if she physically witnessed her mother being attacked. The child even suggested leaving and going into Salida with her mother to obtain a place to live and both getting jobs in order to support themselves. This tells me that MM2 knew Barry would never agree to give Suzanne money or support her leaving. She would just have to walk away. Although, in hindsight, she should have done just that, Suzanne didn't want to just walk away because she had a wheelbarrow load of money invested in the PP home and the IN home, as well.

I wonder at what point LE knew Barry had made multiple stops in Broomfield.

Tracking of his phone?

It was in airplane mode for the elk run...

So it must've been his phone.

Dumb move by him.

Worth pointing out, Barry didn't get home until after 1 in the morning, more likely well after on 5/8-9. (His Bobcat was very busy at the beach.)

Then he changed his start time with MG, for the beach. Didn't he say something about a fire, before switching back to the original time?

Picked her up and later returned her to her vehicle, parked at the gym. (No issues with the smoker riding in his car on Saturday but suddenly a problem on Sunday?)

He had a short night at home on 5/8-9. (But an abnormally high amount of activity???? Did he sleep at all THAT night???? What was Busy B busy doing?????)

If he slept, where did he sleep?

Colorado Judicial Branch - Chaffee - Cases of Interest - People of the State of Colorado v. Barry Lee Morphew

The Skidster data is 6 hours off. I saw it was UTC and when I looked at UTC and Colorado time and right now it is 5 hours off, but daylight savings time would add an hour I believe so that weekend in May would be 6 hours off. So 1 am is 7pm the day before on that data sheet.

I watched a film yesterday where the bad guys buried whole cars using a digger. Gave me chills. I forget how much space and privacy you have over there, but what I was really thinking was that Barry had practice with furniture (!!!)

Friend's Dau's Wedding; IN. Lockdowns. May 2020.
From post by sk716:
"My experiences with Indiana indicates that they tend to be kind of laissez-faire about this kind of thing...." sbm
I'm curious if the wedding was at a church...
Many weddings are at fancy venues now. I'd be interested in knowing if that was the case...
@sk716 TY for nitty-gritty details re IN lockdown then. @justtrish
Good questions about SM's friend's dau's wedding venue.

Wedding took place at bride's parents' home. The
pre-wedding events, wedding itself, & reception on vid show total attendance of ~ 30 ppl (by my count). IDK whether IN's limitations were drafted to apply to gatherings like this.

Basis for ^? Saw a vid (on FB page of SM's friend?) showing the
invitation for May 10, 2020 announcing location as O. fam's "backyard" and giving the address. Not posting other info as I want to comply w ToS.

The carwash was IMO a Fotis move. Once he unloaded all the trash. I mean evidence.

All those wardrobe changes, same.

Dump a load, shower, new clothes, next load old clothes, shower, rinse, repeat.

Not the machinations of an uninvolved party.

Dramatic understatement.

My experiences with Indiana indicates that they tend to be kind of laissez-faire about this kind of thing. I was curious. BBM

May 2020

On May 1, Governor Holcomb announced a five-stage plan detailing the gradual reopening of business sectors in Indiana, with the final stage, completely reopening the state without restrictions, culminating on July 4. The previous statewide lock down was retroactively deemed Stage One. Stage Two began on May 4, with retail and commercial businesses operating at 50% capacity and mall common areas restricted to 25% capacity. A week after entering Stage 2, restaurants can open at 50% capacity for dine-in service and personal services can be performed by appointment only. People who can work from home are still strongly encouraged to do so.[needs update]

Bars, gyms, entertainment events and venues such as zoos, concert halls, movie theaters, bowling alleys, amusement parks, playgrounds, adult day cares, casinos, community swimming pools and camps are not open during Stage 2. However, churches will reopen on May 8.[needs update] Religious services were specifically exempted from the 25-person rule.

Additional restrictions remained in place for the three hardest-hit counties: Cass County, Lake County, and Marion County.[22]

The continued progression of the plan is contingent on 4 guiding principles:

  • "The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients statewide has decreased for 14 days."
  • "The state retains the ability to test all Hoosiers who are COVID-19 symptomatic, as well as healthcare workers, essential workers, first responders, and others as delineated on the ISDH website."
  • "The state retains its surge capacity for critical care beds and ventilators."
  • "Health officials have systems in place to contact all individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and complete contact tracing."[23]
I live in Indiana. Was here during the lockdown. I love getting out and driving and shopping, eating out, attending church. We could do none of that. Being in southern Indiana, our rules were governed more by what was done across the river in Kentucky. Businesses closed. You couldn’t eat inside a restaurant. You couldn’t shop anywhere except Walmart and Home Depot. Businesses were harder on us than our Governor was. Masks were mandated. Roads were empty. We were told to stay home. If you independently felt to do otherwise you were shamed. I imagine the wedding was a closed affair and loved ones watched virtually. Our church is large. It was shut down. Our banks were closed. Just speaking personally, it was miserable.

Any ideas why BM would give so many statements to LE without legal counsel?
Wondering how common this is, especially when a POI is also acquainted with true crime cases.
My opinion, which means nothing, is he thought he could BS them like he did everyone his whole life. Remember his friend from Indiana who said BM lies and makes up stories? Remember Suzanne telling SO he made up stories, wouldn’t tell her where he had been and never looked her in the eye in a serious discussion?

I wonder if one reason why his fb video was so short was because he had to look into the camera. Wonder how many takes they did before posting it.

Anybody know if Bobcats have TWO tracking systems? Telematics to show starts, stops, etc. But what about location? Is that what the SIM card is for?

Did Barry manage to disable the location recorder on the Bobcat? I can only think of one reason why he'd need to do that.

And did he do the same for the truck? How did LE track him to all the dumpster stops, knew of the 18 miles discrepancy but didn't know where he took the truck at 4 am? Well, until he told them.

I still can't reconcile a 12 mile detour for a helmet, positioned 1 mile away...

Did LE ever test the gravel on Barry's trailer? Would it, could it test as consistent with the beach site?

Did Barry return to PP at 2 am on 5/9 with his Bobcat and a load of beach sand/soil?

I'm still side-eyeing the driveway.

If he barried her under there and graded it back, perfect timing prior to selling to add another level of fresh peatrock, to cover any depressions.

JMO
Do you know the exact discrepancy in mileage? I see 14 miles sometimes.

I think JL's time on the stand will be brief. He has already said he and Suzanne made a point not to discuss details of their respective marriages. He can easily prove he was far away when Suzanne disappeared. He can testify about her last known proof of life; their conversation/video chat, whatever. I don't think the defense will want him on the stand for long because he gives BM more motive and JL has an iron clad alibi with receipts, so he can't be an alternative suspect, so they won't want him sticking around.

And I agree, the jurors will view his inactions after finding out Suzanne was missing in a very negative light. It's hard to get over the hump of JL finding out she was missing and doing literally nothing.

MOO
MOO he will be facing BM in person in court.
Amazing he carried off an affair. Maybe his wife knew.

What's significant is that when Barry left PP on MD, well before 5, he didn't open any vehicle doors until the first trash stop in Broomfield.

Whatever he did around 4:30 am (my-rough-estimate because I don't have the AA in front of me), he didn't want tracked. His phone was in airplane mode. And didn't come out of airplane mode, as I recall, until roughly the time he passed by PP again. He didn't know his door activity was being recorded and I'm guessing he never dreamed they'd discover his dirty little airplane mode secret/trick.

Whatever he did during that lost time, with those lost miles, he didn't get out of his truck.

I'd like to know how many times his truck window opened though. Must've been at least once. To bunt a helmet.

Timing is everything -- in life (and in death)!

During my residency, I caught on quickly the typical duty of a mountaineer: when arriving "Town"--it's first, wash the vehicle, and second, breakfast.

BM seemed confused here.

Seems to me he first went to McDonald's to throw away stuff -- didn't even eat.

Checked in the hotel and looked for free food inside.

Goes on more trash runs, and finally washes his truck sometime between Men's warehouse and the next trash stop.

Everybody knows you throw your truck trash at the carwash and don't need to drive all around town.

I think there might even be some Chaffee County jurors that would be tempted to convict BM on just that alone.

Where was Barry Morphew on May 9 and 10?
