Actually, BM said he got those scratches from LOOKING for Suzanne during searches.
  • On May 13, photographs were taken of Barry Morphew at the Department of Public Health. He had injuries on both of his hands, and three scratch marks on one of his upper arms. Barry Morphew told investigators that he got the injuries from a tree while searching for his wife.
Morphew had injuries to hands, arm after his wife's disappearance | 9news.com
At the risk of being redundant, I would seriously hope that all photos and videos of BM that were taken within 48 hours of BM's trip to Broomfield be examined thoroughly for evidence of those scratches. I looked very closely at the video taken by LE in the house immediately after his return from Broomfield. He was wearing a long sleeve shirt, and, imo, was purposely hiding his hands (moving them incessantly, and putting them in his pockets). I think there is evidence that is available via video of those injuries if properly examined. JMO.

Even if he did, I'd still like a very close look at that "red herring" because separating it from the school of fish does not mean it may not have probative value.

She's out there. Maybe not under five feet of snow but probably close enough to Puma Path that binoculars or a spotting scope allows *somebody* to keep an eye on his most damning evidence.

May is coming and snowmelt is an insidious enemy to those whose deeds are covered in it.

It would be interesting to know who that someone is because my guess is Barry isn’t staying in Chaffee County and just might already be somewhere else in Colorado.

How a Husband-Wife MAGA Murder Saga Descended Into Chaos

4/24/22

[..]

That alleged misconduct was detailed in a devastating order issued by Fremont County District Court Judge Ramsey Lama on April 8 in which he blocked the testimony of almost all prosecutorial expert witnesses. It was punishment for what he called the prosecution’s “arguably reckless” pattern of violating discovery rules.

Among the offenses, according to Lama’s order: repeatedly missing court deadlines, failing to turn over material evidence, misrepresenting evidence, and even hiding DNA found in Suzanne’s car from the defense.

“They never had a case,” Iris Eytan, one of Morphew’s lawyers, told The Daily Beast. “They knew last year that they did not have enough to file charges and they have been trying to manipulate and hide evidence to make their case work ever since.”

Eytan added that she was not sweating the prospect of prosecutors refiling the murder charges against Morphew, and that Morphew was not worried about it either. Instead, she said, he was focused on finding Suzanne and the separate case involving the 2020 ballot.

“He needs his moment. He needs to catch his breath,”
the lawyer said, noting that Morphew’s daughters have been steadfast in maintaining their father’s innocence; they have repeatedly appeared with him in public since the charges. “Barry is just focused on his family, going to see his mom in Indiana, and finding his wife.”

[..]

The Morphew family and the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s office did not respond to requests for comment on this story. The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement to The Daily Beast that the investigation into what happened to Suzanne Morphew was ongoing—and thus they could not share any details.

Bbm, quoting Iris E.

"He needs this moment. He needs to catch his breath."

Why? Was he worried?

It's too bad Suzanne didn't get a chance to catch her breath.

Where is SM? Okay, so I have started whiling away the time while we wait for a new development by googling directions from PP to the area mines to see which are most accessible by vehicle. I will do a separate post for the most promising ones as far as BM being able to easily reach it with a vehicle in a relatively short time frame. All routes shown are from the Morphew home on Puma Path to the mine. (Let me know when or if you are done with map/mine posts.)
The first, most obvious, (too obvious?), mine is Garfield Mine right up 228 from where BM says he made his u turn on the morning of 5/10/20.

Wouldn't he have had to take the old Range Rover earlier that morning or Saturday before midnight for Garfield to work? Unless he didn't have need for more than a shovel.

What have you got near/foothills of Pahlone Peak? This kind of searching is not my specialty so I appreciate your endeavors (and if they are reading here, LE probably does, too).

Some have speculated he didn't dispose of the body right away but I really can't see that. He had a plan and even in daylight or dusk could have moved freely without detection IMO. He would have wanted to avoid cadaverine contamination. Not acting quickly increases those chances.

Two things that stand out about "obvious" to me, OC...is 1) is the location too obvious? and 2) is the mine itself too obvious? A vertical mine which is far less accessible (to search) may be more attractive than a more distant mine which is more accessible (to search). IOW....accessibility within the mine itself is something which I believe BM would factor in...regardless of location. The less retrievable...the more attractive to him.

Yeah, maybe BM could ask O.J. Simpson to help search. :rolleyes:/s
Wait a sec, quote does not say searching for the (oh-so-elusive) "real killer" like O.J.,
but searching for his wife.

I wonder what else may have appeared in short supply at PP -- beyond tranq materials and coolers. Weapons. Landscape fabric, limestone, quikrete., shovels, blades...

Sadly, there was no one who could confirm, corroborate or determine what was missing.

If a little birdie could've dropped by PP (without getting shot), I wonder what it would've observed. At 2:45. 5:45. 10:45. 2:45. 3:45.....

It still upsets me that, when describing part of his evening, he said he was probably in his garage, killing time.

Maybe he meant it.

Is it more likely, if he opted for a mine, that he'd choose a sealed mine (and breach it) or that he'd choose an unsealed mine? If unsealed, would he seal it so it would match previously sealed mines?

I can't shake his statement about the one mine that went straight down. How could he know that?!!

And I can't neglect the fact that he had 3-4-5 hours to work with (either 5:30 to 10:30, give or take, or 11 to 3:30). I don't believe he travelled outside the immediate area... so possibly he made multiple, time-consuming trips. I suspect, whatever he did, it was labored.

I also think he really did have dinner. While he waited for dark, dark night. I think this is when he took the time to burn files and burn the journal. He must've felt overconfident the fire would obliterate both....

I'm surprised Barry's attorney would say Barry intends to look for his wife. Didn't Barry himself tell LE he stopped looking for her, because she didn't want him?

Charming.

Not just him but everyone in both families. Both families need a break from the news and social cycle in my opinion.
"Not just him?"

How about "not him at all?"

I have no sympathy for con men, domestic abusers, or wife killers. I hope he spends every day wondering if they've found Suzanne's body, and when they are going to come for him again.

@WingsOverTX, the closest mine south of PP in the Pahlone foothills that I see so far is Cinderella South Mine, about a 32 minute drive from PP. 99% of this route can be driven without passing any homes or businesses with the exception of the tiny town of Maysville. We have not seen evidence of cctv cameras in Maysville picking up any of the Morphew vehicles like we did in Salida/Poncha Springs. The fire station where BM volunteered (#5) is in Maysville. Perhaps he has knowledge of where the cameras are in town and knows how to avoid them? This route has him taking 50 east to 220 to 221.
The last photo, from Google Earth, shows how mountainous and forbidding this area is. No one should be criticizing LE for not yet finding SM’s body in this wilderness.

That must be why the judge bound the accused murderer over for trial.

IE really never does stop lying.

No need, to search for an accurate date.

When did he say this? When he actually couldn't have known of JL? Or later? ;) Freudian slip or not? No need for a search.

I think she is saying whatever she wants at this point. We don't need to pretend the accused actually intends to do that of all things

I think we need this guy on the case. He would know (or know someone who knows) the mine shafts near PP that have easy public access.
