If a parent died after having worked long enough in a job where they paid Social Security taxes....the surviving child can get up to half of said parent’s earned benefits . The other Morphew Daughter may qualify too if she’s still a student.

Not sure how it works in every state, but we had to produce a death certificate for my nephews to receive my sister’s benefits when she was killed. I would imagine that would be true here as well. JMO.

They could if they found evidence the body was moved.

SLO County Sheriff's Office found evidence Kristin Smart's body was moved after 20+ years. Not that far-fetched.

But I keep thinking about a potential large bleach purchase and the smell in the hotel room. It could be he needed to clean the bobcat and some other items, because he disposed of Suzanne along the way. I think LE has a good idea of what he did, just not where. Or -GRAPHIC WARNING- being the hunter he is. Body parts may have been scattered in many different areas and were consumed by animals. No trace of Suzanne will ever be found. I'm so sorry to type that ugly thought.

What a wild, eventful evening on this thread. I’m just getting caught up after last checking in a few hours ago.

despite BM retaining these new attorneys, I don’t think he’s in a plea deal state of mind yet. I think his view on his situation will change over the coming weeks/months as he spends more time speaking with his attorneys. Still very hard to imagine him seeking a plea if one would even be available to him.

lesser (than murder) charges being brought over the last week and a half or so is almost like baby steps until the AA is released. Info trickling in until the dam bursts. Still expecting to be shocked and surprised when we get that no matter how much we speculate and theorize. Seeing things on paper, official documents, makes everything feel more real, and even more tragic.

lastly, in Linda Stanley we trust. I truly believe she is ready for battle (trial) and can’t wait to see her in action. Or hear about it — is there no streaming of trials in CO? I tried looking it up and it seemed like it was allowed, but I read someone on here a while ago saying trial by Twitter. Hmm.

I listened to CM YT The interview room tonight on the recent charges he said one of his new defense attorneys used to be a public defender then left and joined the private practice most likely BMs public defender reached out to them because of the charges and magnitude of the case therefore the new female private attorneys would be paid from a public defenders fund for the state to pay for the new attorneys. Pathetic another words the tax payers paid for them.

I don't think it would be included in the 1st degree murder charge if LE didn't think it was used in some part of the murder.

Count 1*re Murder * is silent as to the CoD, so could be open to any one or more of many causes, e.g., lethal poisoning or drug dosage, shooting, stabbing, bludgeoning w. blunt instrument, drowning, etc. Nothing in Murder count alleges injury or death caused by use of "short rifle" or any other specified means.

Count 4** re weapon alleges only possession of a dangerous weapon, not using it.

Lauren Scharf played some more audio from Barry on the Fox 21 10 pm news. Hope someone has a full transcript, but here’s some quick paraphrasing: Barry sounded very angry. “I’m not going on camera.” “I’m devastated she’s gone.” It has crushed me that I can’t find her. I understand fbi had to look at me and I have put up with that. She’s gone and if I cannot find her around the house then someone abducted her. My wife is the most beautiful woman in the county and any man would take her. How do we know not a bike ride etc.

Wow, seriously? The new high-profile attorneys are paid out of public defense funds? That stinks. But, I guess it’s better he have effective counsel now, rather than for lack thereof to come back up later as an appeal tactic. I’m trying to think positively here. But it stinks.

Even during chemo she was smiling. Yes, it is heartbreaking. She battled and beat cancer a second time. She had so much more life to live. How sad that she was not allowed to live that life, live it to the fullest and enjoy her precious daughters and future grandchildren.

What I found interesting is that the tampering with physical evidence and the weapon charge cover the same time frame- May 9, 2020 to March 4, 2021.
The PP home sold on March 3, 2021. I just find the dates interesting and think that it means something significant, thinking out loud.
These 2 charges cover same time span makes me feel like they’re directly related to the murder charge. Maybe the weapon was found at the PP property after it sold? Hidden/Buried there somewhere?
At any rate, I’m going to read the court documents in more depth tomorrow when my brain is fresh.

Ugh, I hate the thought of Suzanne possibly being shot. Actually, none of the options are good and don’t like the thought of what this poor, beautiful soul must have endured/her fate.
I just hope whatever did happen, she didn’t see it coming. That her last moments on earth, she wasn’t staring evil in the face.

I remember seeing that photo on one of LS’s interviews with a friend of SM (and fellow cancer warrior) last August. Makes this even more heartbreaking that SM went through it twice in her short life. I just can’t applaud LS enough for her dogged determination in telling Suzanne’s story and fighting to get justice for her.

I was thinking about it, how much money all these high-power criminal cases cost Colorado taxpayers. CW, at least, did not cost much, all things considered, but this golden boy Barry is going to be very expensive.

Also thinking, what if Suzanne simply wanted to change inheritance? She had a small trust, right? That she could have bequeathed to anyone. Is it possible, to move her portion of joint assets to the trust, and bequest to a child?

Chaffee County announces new charges against Barry Morphew | FOX21 News Colorado

The new audio released from last September has the following statements from the accused murderer :


In September, Morphew said, “I am devastated. It has crushed me that I cannot find her and don’t know what happened to her. And I understand that the FBI has to look at me because of the statistics and percentages, and I have put up with that with them.”

During multiple interviews with FOX21 News, Morphew expressed many theories as to what may have happened to Suzanne.

“My wife is probably the most beautiful woman in this county, and any bad guy would do that if they had the opportunity,” Morphew said. “How do we know somebody didn’t hit her on her bike and kill her but was on drugs or alcohol and freaked out and panicked and took her. How do we know anything because all the evidence right there is gone, Lauren.”

Tonight on CM's live at the 1:05:57 mark he stated that the PD's office could have hired these attorneys with a "special fund" they may have. For those that are familiar with the process could this possibly be true? This would have my stomach doing flips...
