@Hatch, you seem to have a good command of hunting. Could you comment on whether bull elk would still have their antlers around Mother's Day? I have the impression that they would have shed their antlers long before May. There's been some discussion--I believe improbable--about BM picking up a roadkill bull elk around the time of SM's disappearance and harvesting the rack. Thoughts?

Going back to the PE episode tonight, it was interesting that Mike brought up how they have searched the open web and the dark web concerning this case and encouraged LE to contact them if they need help searching there. Makes me go hmmm...... So, who in this case is using the dark web, might I ask??

ITA, but why? What do they have and what are they waiting for? Do they actually think he may crack? Do any of you think the daughters have been questioned without BM??

It doesn't sound like LE believes they've exhausted all possible leads yet.

I think they're still actively gathering evidentiary pieces from different sources.

Since there's no statute of limitations on murder, LE can afford to take their time and make this case as iron-clad as possible.

Give these perps enough rope, and a lot of them hang themselves eventually.

I don't think the daughters are talking to LE, and I don't anticipate that they will be at any point in the future, either.

I'm sure BM has painted himself as an innocent victim in their eyes.

Because, y'know, this is all about him.

JMO.

The big takeaway on PE tonight; Mike & Chris are encouraging LE to search the dark web. They can help them find things people think they have hidden away. "We've been able to find a lot".

Anyone want to take a guess on what they may have found which is relevant to Suzanne's case?

BBM:

I seriously doubt that the FBI and/or CBI need any pointers on how to navigate the dark web.

There’s a couple things but I can only mention one. Drug dealing. Oh what the heck. Solicitation perhaps??? I won’t speculate on what kind. So there’s that!

Suzanne Morphew, a loving mother, devoted friend and wife.... THIS quote from the Sheriff's office first says "loving" mother, then "devoted" friend and then just wife. It minimizes Suzanne's role as wife. I wondered if perhaps the sheriff is also encouraging the daughters or Barry's mother to share information. It is certainly a thought provoking press release and strengthens the hope for justice to happen for Suzanne.

This is the first thing that stuck out to me, and the fact that "friend" was listed before "wife" is odd.

What kind of sites can I find on the dark web?
On the dark web you can find many different kinds of sites. From book-review websites and regular websites that have a .onion variant (such as news websites) to drug market sites and pornographic sites. Most websites on the dark web can be put in one (or multiple) of the following categories:
  • Illegal marketplaces for drugs, weapons, etc.
  • Websites for whistleblowers to disclose their information.
  • Tech-sites.
  • Pornographic websites.
  • News sites.
  • Forums and review sites where all kinds of topics are discussed, both legal and illegal.

Did they say what their reason was for searching the dark web or why LE might need their help with this? Maybe they are thinking the SM sites or the apps LE mentioned somehow point to the dark web?

Lol, certainly not. Just Google “FBI Dark Web,” and you will find no shortage of major investigations that have resulted in countless arrests.
Not questioning this, but if it’s that easy to get busted for illegal activity on the dark web, you’d think criminals would catch on and stop using it. Anyway, I’m curious about the fact that PE implied there’s something concerning this case on the dark web. All the better the FBI already know about it :). JMO

They didn’t elaborate. However, CM mentioned “stuff” they and others have found on social media as well, without going into any details about what they actually found. Cryptic as always :).

A good friend of mine from Colorado is a PA, she's volunteered in Guatemala a couple times at a clinic. When she's there she has me download the WhatsApp so she can video chat with me. I never have used it other than to connect with her so then I delete the app. Nothing nepharious, no man involved just some laughing at flies and insects climbing on the walls and Mothra a humongous moth I named. Hopefully it's just an app that works in spots with no service for SM. Just my experience.

Just the fact that the "dark web" came up, was an eyebrow raiser.
I'm not at all sure if they actually mean the criminal networking hubs on the internet, that literally anyone can actually access with the right info, or the actual "dark web" that most people have no idea how to access.

They're genuinely 2 separate worlds.

Naming specific social media communication apps is huge!

IMO- LE is appealing to someone in particular, maybe even putting a particular person on notice as well.

The FBI is back in town and met with CCSO and a detailed press release. Today was a win all the way around, I haven't felt this hopeful about Suzanne's case in months!
Yep IMO they have something ...

Most of my knowledge about elk comes from the big boys talking out back, they usually start to grow their antlers in early Spring in the form of what we call “the velvet” which is a cartilage state semi soft. My knowledge is to the tune of Whitetail Deer and Mule Deer- note my avatar we do not have elk down here in Texas. Hubby has been a guide flunky horse and mule wrangler on elk hunts in BM’s part of Colorado. I am adding a link so you can read in detail. But IMO in May the antlers would not be mature. Yes I am a hunter and a voyeur of wildlife. If the antlers were in the velvet in May they will look very scraggly in short order as the cartilage cover dries and sluffs off. In Texas it is illegal to harvest a carcass or antlers from a road kill, there are some exceptions made but you have to have permission from a local game warden.
