What kind of evidence does an investigation require, to persuade a judge to sign off on a warrant that requires the destruction of personal property, as in tearing up a newly laid concrete patio, or a new in-ground pool (totally speculating here)?

I mean, this isn't "we need to poke around in the shed". This is, "we need to rip up this $40K home improvement you just had done".
Seems like that would require some hefty evidence, yes?

I don't know, but as a forensic bio-anthropologist, I'd say having a picture of a body under concrete would be enough. One should even be able to tell height, sex, etc. Not that it matters. It was a new patio, too.

But no patio should have human remains under it.

Not a lawyer, but that's the kind of thing that will prompt a judge to issue a quick warrant. In the middle of the night, if need be.

And it was probably ground-penetrating radar, not sonar. I misstyped (although sonar has its value in some cases like this). Ground-penetrating radar is something most county LE have access to, then they submit to an ME (you don't need a specialist for this kind of thing).

I dont think we have seen anything on that yet but I dont think LE would go this far with all the resources and taking over that area to search it like is happening now, if they did not already check on when the work was done at the property.

ETA-And im sorry because you may be coming at this with a different angle. Knowing when the work was done would help us to maybe know when the site was used to dispose of someone. Good question.

LE had the permission of the Home Owner
 
I've missed the last few pages, but I believe we're going to get most if not the whole story this evening or tomorrow, whenever LE shares what they find. You don't go digging up a patio without not only knowing what is underneath but also knowing a good amount of the story of how they got there. I think we'll quickly learn the who (plural??), how, where and when - and maybe even the why. MOO.
