But none of my children are away at college. They just finished their semesters here at the house on-line. Ditto for my high schooler. Weird that she would be alone all day at the house on Mother's Day.

Why 'weird'? The daughters are not young pre teens, they are both in different states, and Mothers Day is not a big thing like Christmas where you might expect a family to come together. They may have spoken to her or emailed or something. I don't find strange at all.

Just caught up on this case, and I agree that it is SUPER WEIRD for her kids to not be home on Mother’s Day. There is no school in session right now. The college student could be old enough to be staying in her college town in an apartment or something? My college student has been home with us since March as have all the other college students I know of unless they’re older students. The high schooler was camping on Mother’s Day? With whom? Do these people not have mothers? It makes no sense.

Well, when college closed my children were here over spring break and stayed. My high schooler lives here and with respect to us, our children are following the lock down rules, etc., just as my husband and I are. It's not necessarily about Mother's Day.

The high school student doesn’t live with her?

Sorry to type this as it's depressing ---but Suzanne is attractive and has a slim build -- some perp might have spotted her out riding her bike and thought she was much younger ?
Older women have fallen prey to sickos; not just teens and 20-somethings.

Was the bike damaged ?
Were there any prints on it that are not the families' ?

All of the college campuses in my area shut down the dorms and sent everybody home. Some students left without all of their possessions. When they left they didn’t know that they wouldn’t be coming back. Some students who worked and lived off campus stayed in town until instead of going home.

I had to make a career change when my husband dumped me, so I am in college right now. All of the summer courses, even the labs, are still online.

Well I was hoping to check in to see she was found safe :( I don’t have a good feeling about this one guys.

It definitely has a Mollie Tibbits vibe with all the agencies involved. I’m trying not to read too much into the husband not speaking. I don’t think my husband would either, maybe another family member should at this point. There’s just so many ways this could play out with the the little info we have. MOO

Man Stuck in Windshield Left to Die
I cannot ever recall reading about a case where this happened.
Vehicle accident, and then a cover up.
I know it happens in movies and crime drama tv shows, but in real life, I just can't think of a single case.
It doesn't mean it can't happen, I just think it's a rare thing.

It happens. I remember a few cases, one in particular was a hit and run with a female driver and a male victim. The victim went head first through the windshield. The driver drove home and parked in her garage, leaving the victim gravely injured still suck through the windshield. She went into the garage periodically to say 'in sorry'. He eventually died. Iirc she didn't call 911 because she had been drinking. Moo

Just started following this morning and got all caught up here. This whole thing just feels off. Random thoughts:

- The neighbor being the one to report her missing, does seem strange but I suspect there's a logical explanation the local LE isn't giving us just yet, for some reason.

- Initially, the 100K reward seemed really odd, so soon into her disappearance, but now that we're learning it's been known for days (social media?) that her bike had been recovered, the quick reward money makes sense. I suppose the location and the condition of the bike matters a great deal as well.

- Hubby "it's too soon" comment did seem off to me at first but then I thought, what if he meant it's too soon for him, to speak to the media? As in, he's an emotional mess and can't handle publicly speaking just yet? Sometimes when folks are going through a devastating, traumatic situation, they can't even speak about it without breaking down in a puddle of incoherent tears. Sadly I have first hand experience with this, so I know it to be frustratingly true.

- The daughters not posting about it, or pleading for her safe return may be at the instruction of LE. For reasons undisclosed, of course.

I want to say it's too early to have a feel for this case one way or the other, but I already do have a feeling she's not okay. :(
I'd love to be proven wrong.

Great post Onterio! Nice to see ya here!

If this was your wife or mother and you were advised that anything you say/post has the potential to hinder the investigation for whatever reason you don’t take that chance, period. I would think they’ve also been advised not to look at social media as it is speculative and often unkind. When you’re already in the emotional state they HAVE to be in, you just don’t need to see some of this stuff. I think it would do them more emotional damage than aide in finding Suzanne. People close to them are aware of what’s happening if they had any helpful information it would be given without social media pleas from those closest to the situation.

Sorry I’m new here, I hope this doesn’t break any posting rules.

Suzanne Morphew search: Reward for missing Colorado woman increased to $200,000
snipped
The reward for the safe return of a 49-year-old bicyclist who has been missing since Sunday in Chaffee County has been increased to $200,000.

Police and family are seeking any information that leads to her safe return, no questions asked, and offer a $200,000 reward,” according to a missing person’s bulletin.

Missing woman Suzanne Morphew’s nephew, Trevor Noel, left a message with The Denver Post that said he would resume searching for her at 7 a.m. Thursday.

A family friend matched the $100,000 reward offered by Morphew’s husband, bringing the total to $200,000, Noel’s message...

1. This is leaning towards abduction.
2. If so why aren't LE advising the public on their safety??

Welcome to Websleuths!

About the family stating the information for Suzanne's safe return...no questions asked ; what the bleep ????
I've heard that statement before in the disappearance and possible death of Barbara Thomas -- made by her husband.
It didn't sit well with me then and it doesn't now.
Imo.

If she's been abducted yes there are going to be questions.
If she left of her own volition--the family deserves some answers.

I totally agree! And welcome!

I am always surprised when speculation here at WS discusses a lack of family interaction with media as a red flag. Not everyone responds to crisis the same way.

You could be right.
Their FB photos looked very happy and loving.
I know pictures aren't always accurate.
I want to know more about the condition of the bike and why a distant relative had to speak up and say the bike was recovered.
Where was it found ?
Was it on a road Suzanne normally rode it on ?
So many questions.
