OT: Again with the blame. When you decide to insult people of means in this thread, you are insulting some fellow posters. I grew up dirt poor. I worked hard, I married a hard working man. We make good money. We are not shells, we are not stepford, we are not soulless--- even if our lawn is well manicured.

Which is why WS mods are so important and their role so crutial. Can you imagine how many of these poser/trolls are getting lots of play on less strictly policed forums?

Finding myself very thankful for WS strict code of conduct, tendency to attract inteligent members who don't fall for the troll bs (for the most part) and the mods who enforce that code.

I wonder what specifically happened to cause the clampdown threat. Sounded rather Draconian in his tone, did Lt. Vance. If LE is hypersensitive to internet ramblings I hope it's not to the extent they're taking their eyes off the task at hand. Worrisome if so. One should tread lightly on First Amendment matters. As for social media it should be treated as just so much hot air.

Apparently, some people are acting like they are family members, some others are threatening certain people, some acting like they are the shooter, just really sick stuff. I don't know what makes someone so desperate to pretend to be a part of a tragedy. I'm sure the real victims here would do anything not to be a part of this horrible day. To think they are making funeral arrangements instead of going to see Santa, going shopping for a tree together and whatever they would normally do this close to the holidays.

Wasn't that the home that the Lanzas bought as a couple when they moved to CT in 1998 with their two sons? The house is still large for four people but for affluent people, not that unusual in some regions.

My first thought was cipa, but there are very few people with that disorder. I suppose other things could cause someone to have a very high tolerance for pain...

Appealing to irrational fears to teach a lesson seems a little strange to me. They are scary movies and themes. They scare adults and children no matter how much you tell yourself they are not real. It is gross stuff.

JMO... It is not unlike the engrained "feel good" childhood fairy tales of Prince Charming & living happily ever after, Barbie's unrealistic body image, etc... There is no outrage against those mind warping story lines. Rude awakening for me when I found out they were not at all what life was like.

I was also absolutely terrified of the stories in the bible. As a child those were some of the most frightening & horrific things for me to hear and then try to make sense of it all when I was told it was all ok because Jesus loved me. It was far more scary than any villain I read about in a fairy tale. This is not meant to place judgement or opinion on believers or non-believers it is simply my personal experience and what scared me more than the "boogy man" or monster under my bed.

It all boils down to perspective and knowing how to control for expectations of reality. Some are better equipped than others to teach others and possess the ability to understand the difference between fiction and reality.

The Connecticut police department warn anyone on any social media sites giving any information that does not come straight from the LE department, will be prosecuted by any and all state, Federal and local laws. Apparently some people are giving out a lot of false information, the only information that can be trusted is to come directly from the Connecticut Police Department website.
