Trying to catch up. Can someone/anyone tell us why this outbreak is not officially called a pandemic?

The operator of cruise ship Costa Fortuna said it was heading to Singapore to end its journey on Tuesday as planned, after it was turned away from ports in Malaysia and Thailand over coronavirus fears.

Italian cruise line Costa Crociere said there were no suspected virus cases among its guests, which includes Italians – Italy has the largest number of cases of the virus outside China with 7,375 infections.

Costa Crociere said it would cancel a cruise due to depart on March 10 from Singapore.
Singapore port authorities have not yet said whether they would allow the ship to dock.

My state, New Mexico, is COVID-free. Thirty-two of our citizens were tested with negative results. So, we are COVID testing here in the Land of Enchantment. All states surrounding NM have COVID outbreaks, in addition to the foreign country to our south, (Old Mexico) which also reports the virus.

I tell my out-of-state friends that NM hasn't yet had an outbreak because no one seems to want to come to New Mexico, AND.... no one ever wants to leave here. So far......we are in a state of self-isolation.

I wonder how many people who, in the back of their minds said, should I? Nah...that was just oooone cruise ship (DP), and who are now going damn i should’ve listened to my instincts.

In that case, WHO fails. We need an agency we can trust and respect.

Well, I'm trusting that the Chinese government made some good decisions. (not 100%) but I think we can see what they did to save lives.

Which is a lot more than the US Government (including Congress) has done so far.

If anyone looks at a map, with states affected, it follows I-95 corridor on east coast, I-70 from California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, all the way to the East coast. Along the west coast, the virus follows the I-5, all the way to Seattle. North south, it is following the 35 from Texas to

Forget about airports, it is truck drivers who are vectors for spreading the disease in the United States.

Britons are allowed out of Milan and surrounding areas. When they get home to the UK, they will not be met or screened. The govt would like it if they would self-isolate for 14 days but there is no
obligation to do so.

Right, because New Mexico, like Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, is not on a major highway for transportation of goods in the United States. My theory, after looking at a map, is that hot spots, are along major freeways for trucks. Freight.
