Have you seen the photos of Dubai?
Venice?
They are ghost towns now!
Frightening to think NYC might be like that isn't it?

We survived a major city shut down after Hurricane Sandy. We can handle it.

Of course, we weren't quarantined at home, so just the quarantining and the thought of not being able to leave your home will be a nightmare. Maybe think of it as a snow blizzard, everything shut down?

"Eighty percent of people have such minor symptoms, they don't actually require any medical care at all. The 20 percent who do feel quite ill need to be evaluated, and some of them will require hospitalization and some of them will require intensive care."

Worried you have the coronavirus? Here's exactly what you should do.

bbm, idk if bolded is good or bad. 80% walking around spreading CV19.
In my neck of the woods we are entering the seasonal allergy time of the year. It seems everyone here suffers from pollen & ragweed.

Indeed! 1973 Atlanta snow/ ice storm was a week with no power! It definitely could be worse than just having to stay home for a week or two!

Good morning all. I see you've been busy enough to get a new thread. #18 already. How many will we need? (rhetorical)

Bringing this forward from #17 and post from @Lilibet because I'm curious as well

"Does anyone here know how soon a test would register positive after exposure? If someone has been exposed, and is with or without symptoms, do they have to wait a certain length of time to be tested so the test would be valid?"

*Going back to catch up here and #17

French minister caught coronavirus after Parliament visit

Franck Riester is doing well and resting at home.

Five French parliamentarians have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, along with a worker in the National Assembly cafeteria where some or all of the lawmakers may have picked it up.

The stricken minister last met President Emmanuel Macron several days ago.

“We don’t know” how many coronavirus tests have been done, says US health secretary

US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar says his department isn’t sure how many tests for the novel coronavirus have been performed in the United States.

“We don't know exactly how many because of hundreds of thousands of our tests have gone out to private labs and hospitals that currently do not report in to CDC.

"We're working with the CDC and those partners to get an IT reporting system up and running hopefully this week where we would be able to get that data to keep track of how many we're testing,” he added.

Azar went on to say: “We think we've got probably 10,000 a day could be getting tested by the end of the week -- 20,000 a day according to a study by AEI that I've heard about. We've got 2.1 million tests available, 1.1 million have shipped. We actually have a surplus at the moment that are awaiting orders to be shipped.”

“A private vendor shipped most of those 1.1 million that shipped were from a private vendor selling to their customers, and those entities that used their tests do not have to report back to CDC. But we're trying to set up a reporting system where they would in effect do that,” Azar said.

Something to think about....buying ammo has gone crazy here. Why? People say that LE will be stretched below limits - some out sick, some home watching children normally in school/closed, working longer shifts and dealing with virus hysteria, plus enforcing travel restrictions.
Most around are expecting petty crime/theft to rise plus a huge surge from the southern border.

Not good, especially for those who do have severe symptoms. The ones with minor symptoms, who are not tested in the US, will spread it around far and wide. 20% serious cases will overwhelm medical system. Death rates will increase.

Researchers in China say preliminary research shows there are two strains of the novel coronavirus that has killed more than 3,200 people and infected more than 92,000 across the globe.

Scientists at Peking University’s School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai report that a more aggressive strain has infected roughly 70 percent of those tested, while a less aggressive strain was linked to the remaining 30 percent, according to Reuters.
The coronavirus could be mutating as scientists claim to have identified a more aggressive strain
