Hi all,
Hope everyone is well!
We got our free tests a couple days ago, Bianca brand, and we’re in Illinois.
My husbands PCR test came back negative on Thursday!!! Any symptoms he had are gone. He’s a diabetic so I am super thankful he got through it. We are both vaxxed and boosted.
I had my 3rd chemo this past Friday. Doing okay. We leave for Florida (planned vacation before breast cancer reoccurance) this Wednesday. Rented an RV to drive down in because Dr. said no flying and I agree. Staying in North Captiva Island, only accessible by ferry, in a house, with our kids and two grandkids. I’ll be masked while around everyone. So thankful to be getting out of this cold and snow!
I’ll try to update what I see while out in the wild!

Roadtrip!!! Good for you....
Do keep us informed.

It's good to see your update this morning. Some time during the day on Friday you ran through my mind. I sent you good vibes and prayers and hoped everything was going as planned. An island vacation in Florida, oh my. I hope the weather and your accomodations are perfection and the trip is healing for you all. Safe travels.

We have not received our tests, yet, and I didn't get an email notification. I ordered the first day, so I'm not sure what the hold-up is. I hope them come soon.

My experience and what I am hearing on here is that the email notifications come just before the tests are delivered, either the same day, or a few days before. So you will probably get your email notification pretty soon, sounds like they are moving them out pretty quickly and in an organized fashion.

I have not received my tests yet either. Surprised, because I ordered them the same day as everyone else here.

Did you get an email notification after you placed the order? I got mine about an hour or two afterwards.
Then about 5-7 days before I got the tests in the mailbox I received an email with the USPS tracking number.
Hoping you get notification soon that they have been shipped.

Your words will become a "classic" tale of this horrible virus, and how it truly does affect 4 different generations. i feel like I know your whole family from your so-well-constructed words!

Sometimes I just hate living in Florida.... EVERYTHING just becomes so political, rather than people coming together and helping each other get through... BUT being able to be outside on a daily basis makes it so so much easier. Sooo much easier.

I really do hope you get to find your little bit of sunshine closer to your folks.. I sense both your days and their late days would be happier.....

Make sure to save your words here......... You will want to remember them down the road.... Like a diary!!!!!

Thank you, @nhmemorymaker. Those are very kind words. I am longing for weather warm enough so I can eat outdoors again. The first summer, before vaccines, I did that maybe three times, and I was sanitizing the Sweet N Low and salt and pepper shakers and everything that was touched. Last summer, post-vaccine, I didn't do that, but even though some of my friends are begging me to eat indoors now, I won't. I'm triple-vaxed but will not go indoors where my mask must be removed.

I'm happy for you and all my homies here who can enjoy warm weather. Although my parents said it was in the 40s yesterday in southern Florida.

I want to be one of us here who says that my tests have arrived! I also ordered the day before, thanks to WS.

But, because I'm an idiot, I didn't realize until the confirmation popped up that I had mistyped my email. Therefore I'm just checking on USPS Informed Delivery. Nothing here yet in NYC.

I appreciate your concern and although I hate looking like this, I will not take the risk. You are right, it is not worth it!!!
I got professional haircuts during low covid periods. But its been months and my hair is getting long again (which I don't like). But I am waiting for the next low covid period before getting a new haircut. Omicron is supposed to fall fast, but who knows how long the low covid period is going to last. Anyhow it's still high covid so I am not getting professional haircuts or other services done until its low covid.

Quick update on my hubby. He's feeling much better since having the monoclonal antibody infusion! He say's he still doesn't have all of his energy back but all other symptoms have resolved.
I received my covid test results (PCR) and they are negative at this time. Fingers crossed it stays that way!!!

I was getting my hair done throughout the pandemic-- I trusted my stylist and I felt the risk was low, however Omicron is so highly
Transmissible I will not get my hair done until Omicron
Decreases substantially.

I haven't had a haircut, manicure, or pedicure since before Thanksgiving. I would have had the services for my birthday but was otherwise occupied preparing for a colonoscopy on Friday. Now that the procedure is behind me, I scheduled hair and nail appointments for next Wednesday. Both salons have been very cautious when they reopened during the pandemic, so I'm not overly concerned about getting Covid. I'm vaxxed and boosted, in very good health overall, and I feel that the risk is minimal.

I hope it warms up soon for you :) Be well.

Back in Michigan I know and trust my stylist: here in Florida, though the salon is vaxxed and masked, I don't know anything about my stylist: she could be living with grandkids or teenagers for all i know and because of that, I am not going to get my hair done for now.

Oh boy- I am in a full blown crisis with my stepdaughter and step son. She lives in Manassas Virginia and he lives in Michigan. They want to come here for their dad's birthday on 2/23/22. I basically said they cannot do this and expose us to the virus- we are old. She works in a school setting around kids all day long and she has two teenagers. She went off on me on the phone- I could not believe it. Am I wrong? I don't think so. I told my husband if he wants to see them he can go to a hotel for 10 days and quarantine.

I wish I knew what to say. :(

It really is awful-- I did not expect her to be so angry with me- she called me "mam"-- I guess she just does not realize that she will be exposing her father to Omicron-- he is going to be 80!!!! she has been living like there is no pandemic for months. That is her business but I just feel it is too risky for her dad and me to have her come here- go to restaurants and do all that stuff.

Covid predictions? These experts are done with them (nbcnews.com)

Omicron was unexpected, but with the delta variant also still circulating, scientists say it’s too soon to know for sure where the pandemic is headed.

At most every turn, the coronavirus has surprised scientists.

The emergence of the omicron variant this fall, with an origin story that experts say remains shrouded in mystery, became the latest sharp turn for researchers trying to catch up with the virus and its variants.

Omicron, which has about 50 genetic mutations, developed outside of researchers’ view, with an evolutionary history far removed from the family tree of the once-dominant delta. Instead, its roots are in an old version of the virus thought to have faded away months ago.

“So many people thought the next big variant would be a sub-lineage of delta and suddenly we have omicron, which has all these mutations and then it took off,” said Pavitra Roychoudhury, a computational biologist at UW Medicine, a university-affiliated hospital system in Seattle. “The next question is: Where does it go from here?...

She has been living like there is no pandemic for months sums it up.
So she has not been taking precautionary measures to avoid Covid and angrily reacts when you try to explain it to her. Sounds like a delightful person.
Didn’t they pitch a fit about celebrating the holidays before you left for Florida?
Ugh I hate drama
