Palace sources say the Queen Consort remains in good spirits” and “is resting” but “disappointed” to cancel ALL engagements this week. Camilla is triple vaccinated and last diagnosed with Covid 12 months ago.

Despite so many people believing the Pandemic is over, it obviously is not: the saving grace of course has been vaccines-- I go over to yahoo.com quite often: You would not believe the ignorant and negative comments about the Covid vaccine I read there. It is astounding. Some comments include: the vaccine doesn't work, it isn't really a vaccine, the vaccine has caused more deaths than Covid, Covid is a hoax perpetrated by the government- and on and on. I hope Camilla gets well soon.

I never see information in the news anymore - state, regional, local - about where there are hot spots of covid infection. I guess I will have to dig deeper, and go to public health office sites, to see if they are posting that information. It would be good to know.

If you go to www.covidactnow.org you can plug in your county and get lots of data

I don't think anyone is even getting tested any longer, which is why the data won't be valid.

As far as I know, now it is "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". As a matter of fact, when I told my supervisor I tested positive for Covid, she pretty much expected me at work by Friday. Just wear a mask. So much for two weeks off.

Agree, I think the only information that is useful is the hospitalization data, since many people aren't testing anymore.

It truly boggles the mind how many people still believe all of those conspiracy theories about Covid. We moved from CA to TX 6 years ago and I can tell you that the attitude here, even in much more liberal and educated ATX, is still filled with people that would write the sort of comments you’re describing. It’s disappointing, IMO. I thought we as people would be smarter by now…but nope. You can’t fix stupid.

You are so right- you really cannot fix stupid! I am so disappointed in my fellow Americans- cannot understand how so many of them have gotten so many things so wrong - so misguided about the virus itself and the vaccine. It boggles the brain!

DH and I both had our annual physicals last week. Both offices still require masks, but neither asked us questions about travel, symptoms, exposure to Covid, etc. like many physicians were doing for many months during the pandemic.

The problem is that now, people are sick, and expected to be at work. The "Pandemic" is over. LOL. Not from where I am...I see sick kids at school, sick people everywhere...sure, I guess that because of the vaccine we are supposed to get over Covid in three days. Not happening here. I am still fatigued, coughing, sneezing, not hungry. Going on my 3rd week. And a lot of strange symptoms, bloated stomach, nauseous.

Oh I am sorry you are still feeling crappy--- everyone reacts different to the nasty virus. I hope you will be on way to feeling better soon.

Our state‘s Dept of Health and Hospitals only posts weekly stats even though our numbers are rising.the dept. also notes that there’s a large numbe of backlogged cases.

DH and I got our 65+ flu shots this morning. We were called into the consultation room at the same time, and I went first even though DH had the earlier appointment. Before getting my shot, we talked to the pharmacist about the bivalent Covid booster and when would be the best time for us to get it. CDC recommendation is that anyone who is eligible can get the new booster as early as two months since their last booster. We told him that we were considering the updated booster for next month, and he said that would be fine. When I mentioned our upcoming cruise (late January) and said that we thought about waiting until closer to that date, he said that putting off the booster until December would probably be alright, too. We really liked the pharmacist and felt that he took time with us and answered all of our questions about the bivalent booster. He assured us that we were not the only patients to express concern about getting boosters so close together and that, like ourselves, many folks do not want to get both the flu shot and the new booster at the same time.
I will pray for you

It is amazing to me that people are living life like there is no pandemic. A good friend of mine, an elderly woman, is dining out, going to concerts and all that kind of stuff. She is busy every day and night. I am a hermit and plan to stay that way for the forseeable future.
Good for her God bless her!

The newest COVID-19 variant is so contagious that even people who've avoided it so far are getting infected and the roughly 80% of Americans who've already been infected are likely to catch it again, experts say.

Essentially, everyone in the country is at risk for infection now, even if they're super careful, up to date on vaccines, or have caught it before, said Paula Cannon, a virologist at the University of Southern California.

"It's crazy infectious," said Cannon, who is recovering from her first case of COVID-19, caught when she was vacationing over the holidays in her native Britain.

"All the things that have protected you for the past couple of years, I don't think are going to protect you against this new crop of variants," she said.

The number of severe infections and deaths remains relatively low, despite the high level of infections, she said, thanks to vaccinations – and probably – previous infections. But the lack of universal masking means that even people like her, who do wear masks, are vulnerable.

Thank you. I am glad I have this now, after 3 vaccines. At least I am not in the hospital.
@mickey2942 , reading the twitter thread below made me think of you and your comment about you/people being pushed to return to work too soon or while still sick.

In particular I note her mention that complete rest may end up being important in avoiding or minimizing Long Covid.

Glad you are insisting on doing what works best for you!

MOO
