"That is evidence of community spread," Florida @GovRonDeSantis says of three unlinked coronavirus cases in Broward County.
He adds that the state has been "acting" as if community spread was happening.
DeSantis says
quite a few Florida coronavirus cases have been tied to New York, and mentions the frequent flights between New York and Fort Lauderdale, which is in Broward.
Florida @GovRonDeSantis has now directed the state emergency operations center to operate at
Level 1, the highest level.
DeSantis says that w/more widespread commercial testing, there'll be a lag in reporting coronavirus cases to the department of health, and the public may hear of more positives before the state announces it. Testing will be "more robust, but it will also be more decentralized."
"
Just steer clear of crowds entirely for the time being," DeSantis says of vulnerable coronavirus populations. "Even if you're somebody that's not at risk...by you doing your job and helping with hygiene and social distancing and the like, you're doing your part."
Dr. Scott Rivkees, the Florida surgeon general, "asks" people who have traveled here from abroad or "hot spot" states to avoid vulnerable populations and social gatherings, monitor their symptoms and isolate if need be. "If you want to avoid getting Covid, avoid crowds."
"
We don't have a testing capacity issue as far as kits in the state of Florida," says @JaredEMoskowitz, the state's emergency management director. Notes commercial kits the state has purchased to be sure.
"
There are no supply chain issues at this time," Moskowitz says, adding that there will be a resupply, unlike during a hurricane. "Please get supplies...addition mitigation measures may need to be taken in the future."
