I said the same yesterday. My advanced RN friend, with a most prestigious position wanted me to drive to casino with her. When I caught my breath and mentioned Covid, she said “its just a virus.” Smh

In a way, you have to have that attitude. Otherwise, we would all be hiding under our beds. It is "flu". Yes, it is very powerful. But, it is something that we need to keep in perspective.

Yes. We have a wonderful plant nursery that is a joy to visit as spring comes along and the summer planting season starts. It is also a social place where I run into so many people I know. All my summer garden is planned around the plants and herbs they sell. Having to avoid this place full of beautiful flowers and trees, where the birds are all chirping, where the Western Tanagers are nesting and all the fountains are flowing is a great loss of a morale booster.

I will buy a nice big gift certificate and monitor the local conditions so I can maybe visit (wearing mask and gloves, of course).

A friend gave us all a house plant last week, to keep our air clean at home. It was a great idea, never thought about my home air.

if there's nothing on the shelves, you won't be able to order it online either - those services shop at the same grocery stores

I just got a call from my local shoprite delivery and they are completely out of chicken, butter, all frozen vegetables and pasta sauce and low on any other staples like rice. I found that odd because I also ordered theraflu, Lysol spray and wipes and these items appear to be in stock. I was expecting her to tell me those were out of stock too.

People with even a small amount of space outside might want to consider planting a garden. You could even do some container gardening. I think you have to check with your apartment to see if you could use your balcony, but I wouldn't see why not. No different than putting out potted flowers or plants. My mom plants red potatoes in big garden bags. Works like a dream.

The magic date IMO is a date they thought the public could handle. IMO, I don't think they will finish the school year, although I'm hopeful some pockets are less impacted.
Henry, that is what my husband said. To avoid more pandemonium, a bite sized date was set. I agree. I just had to see what folks thought here. I always think the worst. This time all of my thinking the worst came true.
It is starting to get socially awkward here at home. How do you tell your beloved family not to come over and expose us boomers. I don't want the young ones to forget about us oldies but goodies. I like that they check on us under the guise of a quick pool game. When young people don't get it they can get there feeling hurt. I am so torn.

It is very hard. I know my daughter and son in law would do anything for me and I feel bad pushing them away. She said she understands my stance on face time only with them and the grandkids. But I still feel bad. We are very close and before this saw the family at least once a week.

My suggestion, follow your gut. If you don't want visitors, simply say NO. Gently explain why. If they don't get it, you can't control that. You can only control your environment.

People in Britain aged over 70 will be instructed soon by the government to stay in strict isolation for four months as part of a planned response to coronavirus, broadcaster ITV's political editor said.

Robert Peston said the government was likely to enforce a "wartime-style" mobilisation effort in the next five to 20 days.

Over 70s to be told to self-isolate for months even if they don't have Covid-19

Other measures being planned included the forced requisitioning of hotels and other buildings as temporary hospitals and the requisitioning of private hospitals, he said.

FOUR MONTHS!!!!!

Yeah but we’ve seen his hygiene practices and his consideration for others. The dude likely coughed in his hands or touched his face and then shook the child’s hand. That’s enough.

We also need to be asking why a child is getting tested for this. Clearly they’re experiencing more than a routine cold if they’re getting tested which goes to show this virus impacts more than just the old.

I wondered the same unless he is in critical condition. :(

I'm on a Disney World annual passholders FB group and you WOULD NOT BELIEVE the number of people making last minute trips to Disney because they are closing tomorrow!! I'm talking people getting cheap flights and flying down...posting pics from the plane and everything! One family posted that they are driving down from Birmingham! What the actual heck is wrong with people?!?! It's not closing permanently! As of now it's only for 2 weeks! Get a grip!

I remember from an early age my answer whenever someone asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up. My answer every time, "I'm gonna own a toilet paper factory and call it FiFi's toilet paper." When asked why, my answer every time, "Cause everybody is always gonna need it." Needless to say, I didn't follow through and hubby had to bring some home from work.

Yep, in some 7th grade class we "bought" and followed stocks. 2 of us "made money" out of the entire 7th grade. We each made initial purchases & waited.

Classmates thought buying stock in a car company or McDonald's was a good idea. Not really.

My buddy bought Birdseye (frozen foods) and I bought Kimberley Clark (TP & tissues.)

Yep, people always gonna shop on that aisle.

FLORIDA

"That is evidence of community spread," Florida @GovRonDeSantis says of three unlinked coronavirus cases in Broward County. He adds that the state has been "acting" as if community spread was happening.

DeSantis says quite a few Florida coronavirus cases have been tied to New York, and mentions the frequent flights between New York and Fort Lauderdale, which is in Broward.

Florida @GovRonDeSantis has now directed the state emergency operations center to operate at Level 1, the highest level.

DeSantis says that w/more widespread commercial testing, there'll be a lag in reporting coronavirus cases to the department of health, and the public may hear of more positives before the state announces it. Testing will be "more robust, but it will also be more decentralized."

"Just steer clear of crowds entirely for the time being," DeSantis says of vulnerable coronavirus populations. "Even if you're somebody that's not at risk...by you doing your job and helping with hygiene and social distancing and the like, you're doing your part."

Dr. Scott Rivkees, the Florida surgeon general, "asks" people who have traveled here from abroad or "hot spot" states to avoid vulnerable populations and social gatherings, monitor their symptoms and isolate if need be. "If you want to avoid getting Covid, avoid crowds."

"We don't have a testing capacity issue as far as kits in the state of Florida," says @JaredEMoskowitz, the state's emergency management director. Notes commercial kits the state has purchased to be sure.

"There are no supply chain issues at this time," Moskowitz says, adding that there will be a resupply, unlike during a hurricane. "Please get supplies...addition mitigation measures may need to be taken in the future."

Oh no. You think everything will be chaos by then? I mean it’s better already in China. You don’t think this could run it’s course in a couple of months?

You’re scaring me.

IMHO it's gonna peak in April after Easter then again mid-summer then again fall until a vaccination is available. It's the new normal for at least 6 months.

If you actually bought TP stock before this corona virus, I bet you would have made a killing.
