TEXAS.....you can't make this up....

As Dallas County
nears 100 cases of the new coronavirus, officials announced an amended order that placed new restrictions across the county.

The order takes effect at 11:59 p.m. Saturday and goes through April 3. It amends the order issued by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins on Monday, which was extended Friday.

As part of the amended order, toilet paper sales will be limited to 12 rolls, or one package per purchase, whichever is greater, until the supply chain meets demand.

The order emphasized social distancing, stating that people using public parks or trails maintain at least six feet of space from others.

“What we’re trying to do is flatten that curve so we don’t see that huge crush of people now that overwhelms our healthcare system, which then leads to this being a longer, bigger problem and it leads to a much higher casualty count," Jenkins said.

It also requires that nail, hair and beauty salons, spas, and tattoo and piercing parlors that cannot provide services while maintaining six feet of distance must close.

All medical, surgical and dental procedures deemed to be elective are also prohibited.

This is depressing and distressing. My Dad and I just had our second call of the day and he thinks that by this time next week, the UK will be at over a thousand deaths. It doesn’t help that so many people are still in complete denial and walking around with the, ‘this doesn’t apply to me’ attitude. If I wasn’t playing by the rules and steering clear of any and all contact, I’d dearly love to give those eejits a well-deserved bop on the nose.

Coronavirus in Georgia: 600 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 23 deaths
GEORGIA — There are now 600 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Georgia and 23 deaths, as of 12 p.m. Sunday. That is up from 555 cases and 20 deaths as of 7 p.m. Saturday.

[CORONAVIRUS IN GEORGIA: Live updates on what’s happening Sunday]

Now, you understand that “confirmed” cases are probably 1/3 of all carriers, as many don’t get tested. Nor all deaths from COVID get into the statistics, either. So IRL, the death percentage is probably lower. But how many people might die of lung fibrosis post-COVID we don’t know.

More on masks.

Okay, so the CDC wasn't completely evil. My conspiracy meter is calming down. It is true that with something like coronavirus, each R95 mask should be thrown away after each use - and of course, that's exceptionally problematic for public distribution and use.

It's unlikely that putting some additional cover over an R95 will actually work. Big university hospitals say there's no way to reuse them (and yet, of course, staff are being forced to, due to shortages).

Cleaning and Disinfecting: Public Health Respiratory Protection Program Template - Minnesota Dept. of Health

R95's can't be cleaned, apparently. OTOH, for most of us (if we had such a mask), a quick trip to the pharmacy while wearing one is going to offer protection and wearing a bandana or cloth mask under it (to protect it from your own respiration and whatever is already in your lungs) is an option.

I suppose we could all dress like beekeepers.

I noticed that, during the WH press conference yesterday, VP Pence had no symptoms, yet both he and his wife were tested because his staffer was positive for COVID19.

Would a test even be needed? And if "Negative", that is sort of wasteful, because he had no symptoms at all. According to their own guidelines, he should be in quarantine for 2 weeks.

Exactly! Obviously, some folks are prioritized for testing. Prestige, position, means, etc. should not determine who is tested. Dr. Fauci has indicated several times that not everyone needs to be tested and that only those with specific symptoms should be tested.

I think everyone on my side of town who has a prescription got it filled this week. I went to get a refill a few days ago and the pharmacy is out with no idea when they'll get more in. I have enough for two weeks so I guess I have to ration? Either that or I'm going to take my prescription to other local pharmacies and see if I have any luck.

My advice, moo, google every pharmacy in your vicinity. CVS, Walgreens, all grocery store pharmacies, small pharmacies...see if anyone in your zip code, if not beyond, has your medication. If so, then explain the situation to your doctor and have them call in a 90 day supply if he/she can.

Reducing and rationing medication sounds very concerning. I’m not sure what it is, but if it’s something you need to take regularly it could be dangerous to intermittently take your medicine, play with the dosages, etc.

The Covid-19 situation could be much escalated two weeks from now. I recommend getting your meds taken care of ASAP. If you need help tracking this medication down, send me a message and I can try to help find and call pharmacies for you.

In AL, the largest counties have been hit (Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile areas). In addition the counties that have Auburn University and the University of Alabama have been hit. I guess these are the urban areas and there are many many counties that are rural. I think here it is an urban/rural type of situation.

The larger areas all have a lot of traffic from outside their areas. For example, Huntsville has an Army base and NASA - a lot of traffic between DC and Houston.
Mobile has the beaches.

ALABAMA

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey issued an update Friday afternoon on the statewide public health order originally issued the day before.

Ivey’s updated order clarifies the restrictions on gatherings of 25 people or more, as well as child care.

Effective Friday, all non-work related gatherings of 25 persons or more, or non-work related gatherings of any size that cannot maintain a consistent 6-foot distance between persons, are prohibited. Ivey said employers should take all reasonable steps to meet these standards for employees and customers.

Ivey said she has no intention of slowing down the workforce through “unnecessary, burdensome regulations.”

The updated order also specifies that day cares can remain open as long as 12 or more children are not allowed in a room at the same time.

The state has put stringent restrictions on restaurants, hospital visitors, day cares, schools and beaches across the state.

These are other restrictions that will be in effect until April 5:

  • Any restaurant, bar, brewery or similar establishments shall not permit on-premise consumption of food or drink. Governor Ivey continues to encourage patrons to visit their local eateries for take-out or delivery provided the social distancing protocols include maintaining a consistent six-foot distance between persons are followed.
  • Regular programs at senior citizen centers are to be ended, except that the Centers and their partners are urged to assure that their clients continue to receive needed meals via curbside pickup or delivery.
  • All beaches will be closed effective today at 5:00 p.m. For clarification, the term “beach” means the sandy shoreline area abutting the Gulf of Mexico, whether privately or publicly owned, including beach access points.
  • Effective immediately, all Hospitals and Nursing Home/Long Term Care Facilities (including Assisted Living and Specialty Care Assisted Living Facilities) shall prohibit visitation of all visitors and non-essential health care personnel, except for certain compassionate care situations such as maternity and end-of-life.
  • In-person instruction and classes at all schools and colleges are prohibited.
  • All elective dental and medical procedures shall be delayed, effective immediately.
  • Local boards of education may provide daytime special activities programs for some children ages 6 through 12. These programs may be held for children of essential employees of these employers: State and local governments, first responders (including EMS and fire services), law enforcement, hospitals, nursing home/long term care facilities (including assisted living and specialty care assisted living facilities), end-stage renal disease treatment centers, pharmacies and grocery stores.

There are European sorts who actually use liquor medicinally (tummy discomfort). Source: marriage.
And there are people who enjoy occasional alcohol to no detriment. And there are people who will be hell to live with when they don't have alcohol, and plenty who will be hell to live with when they do have it.

And if a persons body is use to it they can die without it.

my mother is Bavarian........we always had a bottle of...
Kloisterfrau Melissengeist (sp) in the fridge for extreme illness........pure hell to drink a shot.

AMEN BRO....

Why is anyone in the US government of either party having a luncheon with anyone else?

Sen. Paul was at GOP Senate luncheon on Tuesday with Secretary Mnuchin & was on the Senate floor on Wednesday to vote on a coronavirus bill
This doesnt indicate when he was tested, nor how he was able to get tested since he didnt have symptoms or contact with infected person.

The test results seemed to come in very quickly for them too. A matter of hours because they were tested in the afternoon and I don’t remember what time it was but late evening the results were back. Most people have to wait a day or two for results don’t they?

Death toll in England hits 257 - with 37 new deaths

Some 37 people - aged between 18 and 102 - have died after testing positive for coronavirus in England bringing the total there to 257, NHS England said.

Coronavirus pandemic - all you need to know as Brits refuse to social distance

This is very sad indeed. Younger people need to know that it isn’t just people who are older who are losing their lives.

3 new cases in Newfoundland. :( 2 out of the 3 are related to travel.
"Caul's Funeral Home is asking those who attended two events at their Lemarchant Road location in St. John's to self-isolate.

The funeral home says it was contacted by the department of health at around 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, saying an individual who attended visitations and/or funerals for Shannon Fleming and Edward Tobin had tested positive for COVID-19.

Specific details of the individual's visit is unknown at this time, although the visit was at some point between March 15 and March 17. The funeral home will remain open at the advisement of the department of health.

CBC has reached out to Caul's Funeral Home for comment."

Just made a big beer run, five of us are going to get some much needed saddle time. Now, our saddle bags will be full. WMT/Lowe’s both packed, fortunately I did not have to go to either. Fortunately riding is one thing I can continue, yet maintain social distancing, cuz no one can keep up with my ornery steed, try as they might!

You have my unmitigated, non-hostile envy. I've ridden horses only a few times, but loved every minute of it!

Enjoy.
