I had to send in the Marines! My Marine son and buddy went on a mission to get me smokes. Mission accomplished and no casualties reported.
Before I went on to the patches I changed to rolling my own with filters. Now that did get me to cut down. I kept the baccy, papers and filters in case I had an urge or meltdown but i never did. I still have the stuff but have not needed it. For ages. If I go out for a meal or a drink I take the nicotell cartridge in my pocket but these days never seem to need it.

That's a good idea! Thank you :)
Google Walmart Equate Nicotine Gum. It costs half what original Nicorette costs @$7.99 for 20 pieces. If you use the gum, 2mg is for normal smokers. But if you buy 4mg and bite it in half, you get twice as much for the same price. CVS $7.99 and RiteAid $6.99 also have knockoff brands. I see a lot for sale on eBay.

For those interested in listening to Governor Cuomo, the daily links will be posted here:

New Jersey/New York - Coronavirus COVID-19

He is speaking now.

Thank you for linking Governor Cuomo here. I would hope all would be interested in what is going on in the current epicenter, so they could prepare (mentally at least) for what may come to their area. Thanks for all you do!

I had posted this on an alternative thread....but I will add it here also. A poem I recently found:
The Peace of Wild Things”

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
(Wendell Berry)

Mine included: one family member in the store as well.

Yes mine did too. I didn’t quote it all. My daughter lives about 30 minutes away and has a young son. So she goes to the small grocery store weekly, stays home and goes nowhere else. But she is not going to leave him in the car when she goes in the grocery. That would really be dangerous! I’m starting to question a lot of things.

My granddaughter is an RN. They are being retrained and what she said made my hair stand on end. I won’t post because it would be considered a rumor. But she is shocked and upset.

I just read on the news that doctors will be fired if they talk about the lack of PPE now. I can post that if I need to. Suffice it to say, ethics are in question now.

Thank you sillybilly and Tricia for separating this thread! I appreciate moving states and regions off the main thread, as there was too much activity being discussed for one certain area, and as I tried to scroll and roll past, it just got too much.

MOO

Exactly. I sure want to know how everybody is doing and talk about how this is affecting people personally, but the main purpose of this thread I thought was to discuss facts and information about the virus.

This virus doesn’t know borders.
We need to have a global and national perspective as we monitor our own areas.
What happens in one place can affect what happens in another place. Everything is connected. We have to learn from other countries and States. This is a global situation.

We have to learn from what is happening in NY and what Cuomo is doing wrt to hospital overflow, etc. so we can all learn for when it happens to us. These are collaborative efforts. There is value in learning and monitoring collectively what is happening in the nation and world as a whole.

What is the purpose of this current main thread now? I’m barely seeing any news or science links now...Is this a chat thread now?

It seems to me the meat of the threads is disappearing.

It is difficult if not impossible to navigate around several different threads.

I was here for facts, information, studies, reports from the beginning...now everything is all over the place. These threads have gone through the cheese grater overnight. It’s going to be hard to proceed if there is not some unity.

I’m disappointed now there seem to be minimal msm, etc?

We are all going to miss out on a lot of important msm and information now bc it’s scattered all over the place.

I don’t have time to navigate and find 60 different threads or however many there are now.

We were doing just fine with the way the threads were before..what happened??
I agree 100% mooooogarita.... Great post....Now I gotta go sneak across the border to try and find the Canadian thread to find my sleuther pal, otto...... Yall hang in there.....moo

Hey everyone,

Please move on from discussing the set up of the forum as it relates to general discussion thread vs the state specific threads.

This is as new to us as it is to all of you. Tricia has been made aware of your concerns and as soon as we hear back from her, we'll let you know on the thread. In the meantime, post as usual and we'll get it all sorted out as soon as possible.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and your cooperation.

ETA: As we speak, Ms Tricia is reviewing this. Give her some time for a jug or so of her preferred beverage.
Could we just leave it as is and not have so many threads? I like all the information.

Jeez alcohol as ‘non essential’. I’m in Louisiana & from NOLA. It gives me life now, well that & Blue Bell Dutch chocolate ice cream, although not at the same time.
Miss their peaches and cream & strawberries and cream. And Binder’s glazed doughnuts in the upper 9th Ward. Waistline? At least I have fresh peaches in garden till raccoons catch wind.

I think we all know that smoking and too much drinking is not good. But taking away people's addictions during a time of unprecedented anxiety is foolhardy.

Think of the young family on top of each other, stuck in the house. The breadwinner isn't working, and now doesn't have the stress relief of a smoke. There will be violence in some homes.

I've had mine moved to the NY.

@Tricia Would you provide guidance in the changes in the Covid thread?

Post are being moved to other locations. I was under the impression, separate threads were set up for those wanting to post local information. I may have misunderstood.

I've enjoyed and feel informed from the national and international information on this thread. This information show patterns, developing trends and most importantly a way to connect/support/and keep in touch with our WS family and friends.

Respectfully looking for guidance....
Yes, a response of mine about quitting smoking got moved to a CA thread. But really, that’s useful information for the general thread. I don’t understand what is happening.

Don't know where my Louisiana post went. Seems the states forums are only for statistics. Goodness, stats is available for all the states from one website.

I want to know more about what's happening in each state. My post was about the LA pastor (documented) who is still having services and the response of the governor.

Clearly, if you have covid and have to wait 15 days or more, you can die before your results come back.

That's crazy. It's about 24 hours in the UK I think but tests are only taken if you're admitted to hospital. A friends grandma went in with suspected CV, had 2 negative tests over 2 days and was discharged again.

You've probably seen this one but selfless acts bear repeating:

Doctor given N95 face masks by Minnesota trooper who pulled her over for speeding (WBNS)
That's so awesome. I did see that on last night's world news. How about this one? A drive through confession. It's positively brilliant. That way the priest still communicates with his flock, sets a great example and gets people out of their homes for a ride. No one gets out of their vehicle and the priests sit a small, but safe, distance away.
