Rise Up New York! Tonight at 7-8pm EST

The benefit will raise awareness and funds to help New Yorkers whose lives have been dramatically impacted by COVID-19.

Robin Hood, New York's largest poverty-fighting organization, and iHeartMedia will join together with New York television and radio stations to air a citywide "virtual telethon."

100 percent of donations will provide support for food, shelter, cash assistance, health and mental health, legal services, education and more - helping fellow New Yorkers rebuild their lives as the city moves towards recovery and beyond.

"Every New Yorker has been impacted by this pandemic, but if you had breakfast today with your family, you're already better off than two million of your neighbors who can't afford to eat at all," said Sykes. "It's not an easy time to ask for donations, but as little as $10 provides a meal for six hungry New Yorkers."

Tina Fey will host the one-hour special.
Appearances include: Governor Andrew Cuomo, Michael Strahan, Karlie Kloss, Angie Mar, Barbra Streisand, Ben Platt, Bette Midler, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Chris Rock, Christopher Jackson, Cynthia Erivo, David Chang, Idina Menzel,Jake Gyllenhaal, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Fallon, Julianne Moore, Lin-Manuel Miranda,Robert De Niro, Spike Lee, Sutton Foster, Trevor Noah, New York Giants Super Bowl champions Eli Manning, Justin Tuck and Phil Simms, along with real-life accounts of the work being done on the frontlines. I found this article interesting regarding why Florida has not been as hard hit. With all the international travelers and seniors living here, it was thought that it would have been much worse.

This article has analyzed lots of data that indicates that Floridians stayed home a lot earlier, and two weeks earlier than the governor locked down because people saw it coming and responded. I think cruise ship info from overseas and knowing how much of that business is in and out of FL , and DisneyWorld announcing closing as early as March 12, got everybody scared earlier!
I know my fears rose before many of my relatives and friends in other states.
How Florida slowed coronavirus: Everyone stayed home before they were told to

Earlier lockdown 'could have stopped 2,000 deaths'

Coronavirus: Earlier Scottish lockdown 'could have prevented 2,000 deaths'

More than 2,000 coronavirus deaths could have been prevented if Scotland had locked down two weeks earlier, according to a new study.

A team of epidemiological scientists at University of Edinburgh produced the findings, which feature in a BBC Disclosure investigation.

They suggest the death rate in Scotland could have been reduced by about 80% with earlier action.

Experts also told Disclosure the UK as a whole should have acted earlier.

The Scottish government said its actions had been guided by the best and most up-to-date scientific advice.

Coronavirus lockdown: What you can now do from Wednesday - and what you still cannot

Coronavirus lockdown: What you can now do from Wednesday - and what you still cannot
People in England get more freedom to move around and allowed to meet someone from another household if they are two metres apart.

Boris Johnson has altered the government's advice as the UK enters its eighth week of lockdown.

The slogan of "stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives" has been changed to "stay alert, control the virus, save lives".

The prime minister's "conditional plan" for easing the coronavirus lockdown in England sets out three phases.

From Wednesday, you can now do the following:

  • Travel to work if you cannot work from home, while avoiding public transport if possible. People using buses or trains are advised to wear a face covering
  • Spend time outdoors - picnicking or sunbathing, for example
  • Travel to an outdoor open space irrespective of distance, but not with someone from outside your household unless you can practise social distancing - for example by cycling
  • Take day trips to an outdoor open space in a private vehicle
  • Meet one other person from a different household outdoors, while following social distancing guidelines
  • Exercise outdoors as often as you would like - again keeping at least two metres apart
  • Use a tennis or a basketball court, or a golf course with members of your household, or one other person
  • Go to a garden centre
  • Students can return home if it is a permanent move
You still cannot do the following:
  • Visit friends and family in their homes
  • Exercise in an indoor sports court, gym or leisure centre, or go swimming in a public pool
  • Use an outdoor gym or playground
  • Visit a private or ticketed attraction
  • Gather in a group of more than two (excluding members of your own household), except for a few specific exceptions set out in law (for work, funerals, house moves, supporting the vulnerable, in emergencies and to fulfil legal obligations)
  • Leave your home to stay at another home
  • Share a private vehicle with someone from another household
  • Leave your home to stay at another home for a holiday or other purpose - including visiting second homes
  • Invite anyone other than close family or friends, and someone from the deceased's household, to a funeral

According to the study published in the European Heart Journal, the coronavirus uses molecules known as angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) to infect cells and replicate itself, with more of this enzyme found in men's blood than women's.
Study suggests men are more vulnerable to COVID-19

Source:Circulating plasma concentrations of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 in men and women with heart failure and effects of renin–angiotensin–aldosterone inhibitors

This particular youtube video with Dr. Seheult, (Update 65) goes into great detail in regards to ACE2 and the Angiotensin AT 1,7, and the resulting Oxidative Stress. It really does become more clear how this is a cardiovascular dynamic rather than a lung issue. ( Update 63 even gives more detail of the cellular processes)

What's The Difference Between N95 and KN95 Masks? - Smart Air Filters

What’s The Difference Between N95 and KN95 Masks?

With such similar sounding names, it can be confusing to understand the difference between N95 and KN95 masks. What are KN95 masks, and are they the same as N95 masks? This handy chart explains the differences between N95 and KN95 masks (and all characteristics that are the same).

In short, N95 masks are the US standards for respirator masks; KN95 masks are the Chinese standards for masks. These are the requirements that the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health requires manufacturers to meet in order to label their masks as N95s. Despite the long list of differences, the two masks are equivalent or nearly equivalent on the features that most people care about.

According to mask manufacturer 3M, “it is reasonable to consider” China’s KN95s “equivalent” to US N95s. Mask standards for Europe (FFP2), Australia (P2), Korea (KMOEL), and Japan (DS) are also highly similar.

And where are those ships going to disembark if they have infected passengers and crew again...they need to figure this out ahead of time this time!

Their new "cruise" plan is trips of 5 days or less. Not enough time to be their problem. However, that does not take into account employees.

I bet that they are cruises to "no where", just out in the ocean, Gulf of Mexico, or maybe to Key West, or Carnival's own little rock island. I don't think that Mexico, or Bahamas will be inviting tourists.

Oh yes, mid August, delightful time for cruises...in the middle of hurricane season! No thanks.
