I heard some newscaster today say something about the heat minimizing the virus - I am almost screaming at the TV- I was in Florida for the winter plus two months and I can tell you the heat does not stop COVID or minimize it and anyone that says differently is full of it. It has been really hot and humid in Florida since the beginning of May
In my thirties, I moved from Maryland to Texas: from a warm, humid climate to an extremely hot, extremely humid climate. About that time, I read an article that said that places like Dallas TX were only inhabitable by large numbers of people due to air conditioning. And it was true: I went from an air-conditioned house to an air-conditioned car to an air-conditioned office and back again. The air conditioning in my Toyota Corolla did not work when we moved to Texas. We were, fortunately, able to fix that right away. In Texas, in the summer, you do yard work very early in the morning or very late in the evening. The rest of the time you stay indoors. We would wait until it was dark to use the hot tub. I would walk the dogs after dark. So I am willing to believe that hot places where people largely stay indoors in air-conditioned surroundings are going to have Covid-19 outbreaks.
What I haven't seen is C19 statistics on hot places without air conditioning. I am guessing that people still crowd together in shaded areas during the day.
