What a day so far----- First, my hair stylist who i adore, is traveling on an airplane----he is around 60 something-- in good health and is going to visit his sister who lives somewhere near Myrtle Beach. He says he will wear a mask and gloves- blah blah blah- and just wanted to know that if i wanted to wait a couple weeks to see him after he comes back- well, i am not sure i want to see him at all-- right now at this time traveling on an air plane seems like a pretty big risk-- most of his clients are shall we say elderly and at high risk-- so i am considering what to do--- i hate to have to find another stylist- my hair is fine and thin and takes a lot of work to look half way decent so when i find a stylist i don't like to leave that person. He is the kind of person who will probably travel again on a plane---

So I was commiserating with my friend (also a client of my stylist)- she tells me she went to a funeral- sat at the back and left quickly after the service. All of the people (25 people), who were there (all elderly) decided to go have lunch at an Italian restaurant- Then she describes her neighbors, all elderly who constantly ask
her to go to lunch and dinners-- Again, I am like WHAT??? have people lost
their minds overnight? I am gobsmacked that these people at high risk
are freaking clueless!!!!!

What scares me is the girl who got it at a bonfire. That really worries me. I’d love to know more about that because I sit outside sometimes with friends.

Was someone coughing? Were they super close? It worries me that people contracted this while outside.

Well, that's what she told her parents. Did they go inside somewhere either before or after bonfire? Everything I heard indicates the virus is not easy to spread outside. But if she indeed got it at a bonfire, that indicates that it does spread outside.

Texas Medical Center Deletes ICU Data Amid State's Coronavirus Spike

Houston's leading source of intensive care unit (ICU) data had seemingly removed all previously published reports from its website on Sunday morning.

Texas has seen a substantial rise in new cases and hospitalizations since the beginning of June, about one month after statewide businesses began to reopen in-person services.

More than 57,000 new virus cases were diagnosed in Texas since June 13, bringing the state's total to at least 143,371 positive tests on Saturday afternoon.

Texas hospitalizations reached a new peak Saturday, with 5,523 virus patients admitted to medical facilities across the state. The latest figure surpassed record-high hospitalization numbers reported by the Texas DSHS throughout the second half of the month.

More than half of Texas patients currently hospitalized with symptoms were admitted during the last two weeks.

Oh no. Not Myrtle Beach.
They might be the people that never get or transmit the virus.
If it was just me, I might not be as careful or take as many precautions as I do. But I have others who are not as young nor as healthy.
If I miss out on things this year, so be it.

DH and I had our first salon experience since these businesses reopened in Michigan. We felt comfortable and safe in hair salon (Troy) where chairs are well-spaced with ceiling to floor plastic between the three stations. Chairs were moved out of the studio into a hallway where clients waited until it was time for their appointment. Stylists wear masks, and we were required to wear masks, as well. Blowouts are optional, but the stylists are allowed to do them if clients desire. At nail salon (Rochester Hills), pedicure stations are always well-spaced, and techs have always worn masks and gloves. Manicure stations are usually closer together, but only every other station was used for proper social distancing. In both salons, surfaces were wiped off prior to and following our services.

We also had our first dinner out since Valentine's Day and were very pleased with the way that the restaurant is accommodating patrons and keeping them safe. On Thursday evening, there weren't many patrons, and we had a very private, personalized dining experience. We felt safe in the environment and will resume our monthly dinners at the fabulous Italian restaurant in Troy.

I don't think I would enjoy either a salon or spa right now (because of the worrying about covid). I used to get all kind or services before covid, but now I am just growing my hair out.

It does spread outside, just not as easily. People should be aware of wind direction and overall conditions - if there's not a lot of air movement, it transmits more easily outside. Plus, it's all about sustained exposure. I believe the research says 6-10 minutes of indoor exposure to a person who is a strong shedder, more like an hour if outside. 100,000 virions exhauled on average by the carrier, in both cases.

Walking past someone on a street is very low risk. Standing outside and talking to someone for an hour is plenty of time to get enough viral load. Any sustained face-to-face contact, indoor or out, will transmit the virus. That's why outdoor cafés in Paris have the tables further apart than usual

I'm guessing the bonfire people were not all 6 feet apart. If she was sitting next to someone who was shedding in the manner people usually do at bonfires, talking in an animated fashion, I think it would be easy. There's been transmission between field workers who are picking crops, as an example (in fact, that seems to be fairly common as with some crops they are really near each other - strawberries is an actual example).

Given that there might also have been partying behavior at the bonfire, behavior may have been fairly disinhibited (hugs, etc). IOW, they were behaving like normal kids at a bonfire.

I do wonder if the smoke irritated everyone's eyes and nasal passages though and if that confers added risk. I assume no one was wearing a mask...
