Well we could all move to Nunavut as they have no cases and never have. So far.

This coming week, a couple of my friends are heading to Nunavut where they teach/principal school. They are required to isolate in Winnipeg for 14 days. That means they stay in a hotel room and don't walk out the door for any reason for the full duration. Supplies and meals are left outside their room. They'll be tested for CoVid while in their room, and after a negative test is recorded, they'll be driven to their flight that starts them heading north. Upon arrival in Nunavut they'll begin another 14 day isolation period.

School begins mid August. Everyone is required to wear masks in school, even though the vast area hasn't had any cases.

I wish the world would/could follow their example.

My guess: it's a combination of:
1. Their cases have increased steadily over the past month and deaths lag case counts by 30 days or more.
2. They've been careful with management of nursing homes.
I’ll have to check the increase in cases over the past month. I know CA has a large senior population and they’ve also had a lot of deaths from care homes.

I think some countries and areas are. It is just that other countries are not following the lead of those successful places.

14-day quarantining is so important if there has been any possibility of exposure to the virus.

And for Nunavut teaching staff to be undergoing this sacrifice for their students, not once but twice, is truly an act of love and caring.

And then all school attendees wearing masks, just to be sure ..... words cannot describe their care and concern.

Victoria's Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton has said extensive testing has shown more instances of child-to-child transmission of COVID-19.

"Child to child transmission has become more apparent as we have tested more kids," Professor Sutton said.

"It is still not a significant risk, but some of the earlier evidence was clearly biased by the fact that kids have mild symptoms and they were not being tested.

"We have done much more extensive testing, we have found there are probably more kids that get infected, not necessarily propagating an outbreak, but certainly kids are getting infected when you have a high community level of transmission."

The tone of all of this is...solemn. With people truly thinking and caring about each action, while trying to help others.

I hope and pray everyone will be safe.
I covet this Mickey Mouse mask. It's so cute!!

I’ll have to check the increase in cases over the past month. I know CA has a large senior population and they’ve also had a lot of deaths from care homes.

About 2723 of our deaths are nursing home related in California. Out of 7026 deaths. With 99 workers in those homes also dead.

People aged 80+ who got CoVid died at about a 25% rate here in California. Drops to 12% in the 75-79 age group (and 80+ includes people over 100, of course).

6.6% of Californians are 75 and over. ~16% are 65 and over (so not that different from most states).

For Florida, it's about 21% who are over 65.

The lady in that video who said "I don't wear a mask for the same reason that I don't wear any underwear.. things need to breathe" - May them words never come back and bite her on her naked butt. Because if there is 1 symptom that the majority of Covid victims have in common is the inability to breathe!!
And as for "I have rights, the right to say and the right to choose" -. As we all do. But having the right to free speech does not entitle us to run into a crowded theatre shouting fire!! It is reckless and it's common sense for goodness sake. It's making me dizzy! . Why are some people so difficult and petty?? X

Because during this pandemic, their petty thoughts are still more important to them than the country/state getting out from under this virus. It is inward thinking. And not very forward thinking. Me, me, me. And we wonder where the youngsters get it from?

imo

Hard to believe that there is so much fuss about a face covering. They won't have a choice when it is a coffin lid that is covering their face. :(

Shocking, isn’t it?

We’re in a global crisis and this chick is talking about her underwear.

All right, going in for July 7 and July 10 conferences:

Press briefings

Here's some coverage of a hearing that took place in Palm Beach. The floor was opened for the public to comment about a proposed face mask ordinance/policy

I had to double check to make sure it wasn't published by "The Onion."
One thing is certain, IMO: They sure are passionate about their opinions.

Ty for posting the video.
I have previously seen the segment of anti-masker
Venus Flores.

Next door to Nunavut, the Northwest Territories have had 5 cases, no deaths. My brother manages a logistics firm in Edmonton that transports supplies (equipment for the Diamond Mines, food , medical equipment, etc.) to the Northwest Territories via Yellowknife. In the winter they have to use ice roads/bridges. Great place to see the northern lights/aurora borealis. He flew me from Edmonton to Yellowknife a few years ago to see them, as there is no way I was going to go on one of the trucks on the ice roads/ice bridges. Yellowknife has closed its borders right now, although some deliveries are being made for essential goods. My cousin just retired from years of working in the diamond mines in the Northwest Territories and moved to Nova Scotia. Much warmer.:) Note: Yellowknife has done about 3,000 COVID-19 tests and all negative except 5. Very remote, hard to get in and out.

Victoria's tough police stance continues. I have to say, I saw their police chief at the press conference when their state leaders all jointly announced the impending lockdown. He warned them quite clearly that infringement notices would be given for anyone breaking lockdown rules ... no exceptions.

Victorian Police have released their statistics from the past 24 hours, in which they issued 119 fines to people not complying with "stay at home" restrictions.

Among them are seven people who were fined for gathering at a 30th birthday in Caulfield, and "numerous" fines were people who have been stopped on their way to a friends house.

A total of 51 infringement notes have been issued at vehicle checkpoints.

Oh, Mags.:(

It's not too late. The people of the US can turn this around, in spite of our government, if we reach out to each other and stick together. We may not be as loud as some others, but the majority of us is trying. And we will keep trying. <hugs>

I believe that to be true as well, CJ.
States can turn this around.
