Just Ask My Children (2001)

A pedophilia witch-hunt is started in Bakersfield by two teenage girls' foppish child abuse claims. Blindly ambitious justice officials, especially in the prosecutor's office, conspire to arrest loving parents Scott and Brenda Kniffen, whose doted pre-teen sons Brian and Brandon are grilled endlessly until they repeat the vicious lies, the elder even ends up believing them while they pass from one foster home to the next, as even the grandparents are denied custody for not turning on their children. The defense's rights are systematically denied, so the parents go to jail for 240 years. The boys are near adulthood when the political tide finally turns.

10:00AM (EDT) The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom (1993)

The title is almost a summary itself. Based on the true story of a Texas mom who tries to hire a hitman (through her ex's brother) to kill either or both a cheerleader and her mother. With the intended victims out of the way, Wanda's daughter gets the chance to become a cheerleader. When the media get hold of the story, Wanda's trial turns into a media circus. Written by Rob Hartill.

When her daughter Shanna is disqualified from competing for her Junior High School cheer leading squad, Wanda Holloway tries to get her ex-husband's brother, Terry Harper, to hire a hitman to incapacitate Shanna's rival or the girl's mother. He wants nothing to do with it and after several unsuccessful attempts, finally manages to convince the police that Wanda is serious. She is eventually arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder but when the media get hold of the story, it becomes a sensation, making front page news around the world. Based on a true story.

10:00PM (EDT) Abducted: The Carlina White Story (2012)

The Lifetime Original Movie "ABDUCTED: The Carlina White Story", starring Aunjanue Ellis ("The Help"), Keke Palmer ("True Jackson", "VP"), and Emmy® Award winner Sherri Shepherd ("The View") is based on a remarkable true story of the kidnapping of Carlina White (Palmer), who was abducted as an infant by Ann Pettway (Ellis) from a New York hospital and solved her own kidnapping and reunited with her biological parents 23 years later. The case is reported to be the first known infant abduction from a New York hospital. On July 30. 2012, Pettway was sentenced in a New York court to 12 years in prison for kidnapping Carlina.

In August of 1987, new parents Joy White (Shepherd) and Carl Tyson (Roger Cross, 24) took their 19-day-old daughter Carlina to Harlem Hospital in New York with a high fever. Ann Pettway, who had suffered a series of miscarriages and was desperate for a child of her own, posed as a hospital nurse and walked out of the hospital with Carlina hidden from view. While Joy and Carl desperately searched for their daughter over the years, Pettway was raising Carlina as Nejdra “Netty” Nance in Bridgeport, Connecticut – a mere 45 miles from New York City. As Carlina grew older she began to suspect Pettway was not her birth mother and launched her own investigation. After contacting the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Carlina was reunited with her biological parents in January 2011.

4:00PM (EDT) Prosecuting Casey Anthony (2013)

Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award nominee Rob Lowe stars in the new Lifetime Original Movie "Prosecuting Casey Anthony." Lowe portrays Jeff Ashton, the Florida prosecutor in the controversial Caylee Anthony murder trial and author of the best-selling book "Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony", upon which the movie is based.

"Prosecuting Casey Anthony" reveals Ashton’s inside story of the true crime drama that captivated and then shocked the nation when Caylee Anthony’s mother, Casey, was acquitted of killing her daughter, despite what many thought to be overwhelming evidence of guilt. The movie is seen from Ashton’s (Lowe) perspective and it takes viewers behind-the-scenes of both the investigation into Caylee’s tragic death and the ensuing trial, shedding new light on the many questions of what happened to the two year-old girl, how Ashton and his fellow prosecutors built their case and why a woman so shrouded in suspicion was proclaimed innocent. With in-depth information about the case and the accused, "Prosecuting Casey Anthony" examines what the prosecution got right, what they got wrong and why Ashton remains convinced of Casey Anthony’s guilt...

4:00PM (EDT) Trust (2010)

A suburban family is torn apart when fourteen-year-old Annie (Liana Liberato) meets her first boyfriend online. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend (Chris Henry Coffey) is not who he originally claimed to be. Shocked into disbelief, her parents (Clive Owen and Catherine Keener) are shattered by their daughter's actions and struggle to support her as she comes to terms with what has happened to her once innocent life.

Note: While not based on actual events, this film is about the dangers that children/teens face when meeting people online. The movie premiered on LMN Friday night. A 35-year-old sex offender lured young girls into his life by lying to them via the internet - telling them that he was much younger than he really was, telling the girls that they were "special" and beautiful, making the girls think that each was the "only one", etc. It turned out, in the end, that the man was a high school teacher with a wife and young son. Both DH and I thought that the pace of the film was somewhat pedestrian, but it was a good story and well-acted.

6:00PM (EDT) When a Child Kills

Nathaniel Abraham, who shot a teenager and claimed the killing was accidental, launched a debate between those who saw his treatment as inhumane and those who said killers of any age must pay for their actions. Unwavering in her belief of her mother's innocence, Tammi is forced to drain her life savings while fighting with embassies and governments as she races against time to save her mother.

6:00PM (EDT) Fatal Honeymoon (2012)

Based on a true story, Fatal Honeymoon tells the shocking story and controversy surrounding a newlywed who tragically dies on her dream honeymoon and the subsequent investigation as to whether or not her husband was guilty of killing her. In the film, Alabama couple Gabe Watson and his new bride, 26 year-old Tina Watson, married just 11 days, go on their dream honeymoon to scuba dive near Australia's Great Barrier Reef, where Tina drowns in what appears to be a freak accident. With authorities puzzled over Gabe's inconsistent statements about Tina's death, her father Tommy Thomas begins to suspect Gabe may have murdered his daughter. When an underwater photo of Tina lying motionless on the ocean floor emerges, Australian authorities begin to suspect foul play, charge Gabe with his wife's death and extradite him to their country, where he eventually pleads guilty to manslaughter and serves 18 months in prison. Alabama prosecutors, agreeing with Tommy's suspicion Tina was murdered and Gabe had possibly planned it before they left the state, decide to pursue murder charges in the United States. But, due to lack of evidence, the judge dismisses the case - causing many to wonder what a jury would've made of the evidence and leaving Tommy with more unanswered questions about what actually happened to his daughter on her honeymoon.
