Note: I watched this film when it premiered on Lifetime last Friday night. It was a decent made-for-TV movie about the sex-slavery business in foreign countries. One thumb up from BetteDavisEyes ;)

Tonight on LMN:

8:00PM (EDT) Whisper of Fear (2013)

Telling the chilling story of a tough, hot-headed cop with a troubled past who teams up with a polished, politically savvy Assistant District Attorney to take down a dangerous stalker, the thriller is inspired by a true story from the book “Whisper of Fear: The True Story of the Prosecutor Who Stalks the Stalkers”, by Rhonda Saunders, a criminal prosecutor who wrote the law on stalking in California.

Frustrated with the judicial system’s indifference towards stalking cases, ambitious A.D.A “Julia Winston” (Jodi O’Keefe) is determined to establish a task force charged with tracking and prosecuting predators before they harm or kill their victims. However, Julia’s “boys club” of bosses dismisses her concerns as trivial and repeatedly rebuffs her efforts. Meanwhile, recently hired detective “Diane Harkin” (Drea de Matteo) faces similar resistance from fellow officers in her new precinct when she discovers numerous unsolved stalking cases...

Note: While not based on true crime, Runaway Jury is an outstanding, suspenseful, well-acted courtroom drama starring John Cusack, Gene Hackman, and Dustin Hoffman. The 2003 film is based on a novel by John Grisham and airs today at 10:00AM (EDT) on AMC.

Sounds like a good made-for-TV movie, but I will have to watch it when it's shown again sometime. Can't miss the second episode of the 14th season of Law & Order: SVU. It's the only regularly-scheduled show that I watch :D

10:00 PM (EDT) The Blue-Eyed Butcher (2012)

Texas beauty Susan Wright appeared to have a fairytale life with an adoring husband, Jeff, two beautiful kids, and close family and friends. But in 2003, six years into their marriage, the fairy tale crumbles when Jeff is found dead and buried in the backyard of their suburban home. The close-knit community is shocked as police accuse Susan of pre-meditated murder -- luring her husband into the bedroom, tying him up and violently stabbing him almost 200 times before haphazardly cleaning up the crime scene. As Jeff's family reels from the devastating news, Susan begins to mount her aggressive defense; that she needed to kill Jeff out of self-preservation for herself and her children after years of physical and mental abuse. But prosecutor Kelly Siegler is skeptical of her defense and forcefully argues she is a cunning, doe-eyed sociopath, who has used her good looks to try to get away with anything in life -- even murder. The jury rejected her claim of self-defense, and sentenced "the blue-eyed butcher" to 25 years in prison for murder. In 2009 the Texas appeals court granted Wright a new sentencing hearing, after determining that her "counsel rendered ineffective assistance during the punishment phase of trial." On November 20, 2010, Wright was re-sentenced to 20 years in prison, five years less than her original sentence.
