The expert witness today....who helped like a 'Priest for Last Rights' per L&C chat :

Cost as I can figure: 6000.00 retainer fee

14 hours prior researching/working the case at 600 =8400
Travel time from CA ( eye roll ) to CT= 6 hrs x 600=3600
Meet with attorneys last night= 2 hrs x 600= 1200.00
Court today= (plus travel ) =4 hrs x 600= 2400.00
Travel back to CA 3600.00

Grand Total $$$ 25,250.00

I thought the same thoughts and went looking for an article from today and weirdly found an article stating that she broke down in tears 17 days ago when they played her first LE interview! I don't even remember that. Anyway here is that article (not from today) along with a colorful narration.

At one point Thursday, Troconis was seen with her glasses above her head and her hands on her face as she shed tears. She also wiped her nose with a tissue while sitting at the defense table.

One of her sisters gripped rosary beads as footage played while her mother held a prayer card during Thursday’s testimony, CT Insider reported.
Thank you. I had forgotten she cried earlier, though still crying for herself, IMO.
Also, was not aware of the T's saying their rosary and reading from prayer cards. I wonder how that sat with the jury?
The best line from the article was that Starbucks didn't have her favorite chocolate croissant.
Maybe that's what made her cry?
MOO.

There has been an odd sterile non-feeling feeling for most of this case from the DNA match to the toothbrush (makes JD not a human but a DNA factory) to the toast at 4JX the night before the murder when FD and MT seemed relieved. Something is off, a little like The Great Gatsby, where there is this intrigue but no real, known emotions or conversations. FD is boiling over, plotting to kill his ex but is having an impromptu dinner party with people who are being duped by him. MT is furious bc FD is always making JD out as a monster but has this society face on to conceal. (And, at least some of these people knew Jennifer and don't think she was a monster.) It is so icky. The scheming for money. The scheming for privilege. The people in their community who accepted that they were who they were presenting. Michi and her sex talk and jokes. Fotis and his simmering rage. Their circle seems to not get that it is odd and disturbing. They don't want to get it--- laugh, laugh, nudge, nudge, eat homemade Greek fries, and ski. And, these acquaintances and friends remark on the pond, the skiing, the large home, the rugs brushing aside the human cost to the Farber /Dulos family. Just ick.

Wow-pretty expensive, considering how relatively ineffective she appeared to be-although you never know what a jury will do.

Perhaps FD and HH would communicate via a burner phone by text only, so FD saying “no phone, text me” FD meant get in touch with me using burner phone #. Or just dont call me, dont ring the phone, just text me.

Yes, but in the NARC PARADE of characters in this tragic case she imo was the only one to shed tears (other than Pond Guy) and she certainly shed more tears than MT too imo.
MOO
I felt she was the most conflicted about being a defense witness.

I also felt Hutch was conflicted and not really being truthful with himself. He described the pond/club as family. The dock like the family room. And someone in the family was appearing to be a murderer who may have hidden the body in the family yard.

I'd cry too, Hutch.

Fav moment from dinner party guests:

'I know Spanish. I taught myself when we went to Spain for 12 days. '

You know....donde esta el bano?
and the must have...oh cabana boy, la carta de vino, por favor?
That back fired fantastically. What a humorous way to make it clear they socialized in English.

(For the record, I do get that there is a difference between court where your freedom is at stake and a dinner party. I'm not anti- translator. I don't see where language is the issue on the obvious lies, but I am not anti-translator.)
