Do you have maps of the several reservoirs in and around Harwinton and Burlington? those used to be large deep bodies of water and not many homes around them. Also only 15-30 min. from FD's home.
That is an interesting thought! I haven’t looked up any other maps but I hope to have more time to look around late tonight :)

lets get back into things. not sure if most got a chance to watch it. thought it was good, no real new juicy info but nice to see a video nonetheless of the different parts of this story.
with that said, they did miss a very valid point thats been brought up here multiple times for a motive which is financial. that is very real beside the divorce and custody of kids.
Yes, IMO finances are key. Wonder what kinds of warrants LE has obtained for FD's financial info. JMO.

Yeah, I think water is a very real possibility here.

In that new Showtime series “City on a Hill,” the killers put bodies metal barrels with holes poked in them, and dumped them in water.

When I saw that scene, I immediately thought of this case, and that banging.

If she is in water, I hope he simply weighted her down with concrete or something.

There’s an excellent chance her body would rise at some point, if that was the case.
I believe someone way back surmised that the metal banging may have been LE searching the dumpster? @LittleBitty ?

Perhaps get some body language experts or psychologist input.
I'd love to see Peter Hyatt, one of the main people training cops in Statement Analysis, give his take on this.

It would be far better if FD's attorneys hadn't pre-approved the questions but there were some tells.

We would learn a good bit more if we heard the very early interviews, the ones before any coaching; there are bound to be slip ups there.

So...on balance, do we help? Does LE ever say we help? I can’t see how we wouldn’t as it’s a group of smart, caring, often experienced people brainstorming but if not, I’ll just keep my musings (not that mine are so great) to myself.
I'd like to believe that we do and that the efforts made here by so many caring people are relevant.

Speaking personally I've worked a number of times over the years with families that had a loved one go missing who reach out and ask for help either because they don't understand the process of working with LE, don't have the funds to hire professionals, don't know who to hire or trust as there are so many that prey on the families of the missing or need ideas on what to do or even what to ask LE. Most missing cases sadly get little in the way of resources from LE and it takes a boatload of work in many cases to push the case forward and mobilize social media and its so impt that all this get done quickly. I've seen WS people band together and help and its been so incredible to see people that don't even know each other or the missing person work together to get the word out and work social media and help as best they can.

Now there are not for profit groups that can help the missing and this is fantastic but many times people that have a loved one go missing have no clue on where to go and the WS resources for these people are valuable IMO. I've seen WS folks be super supportive to families on cases and its one of the reasons I stick around and continue to contribute when I can.

The power of FB and social media for missing cases is huge and major IMO but the discussion groups can be scary places for families of the missing IME. WS is victim friendly always and I don't think most truly get how important this is until they hit the social media world.

The Dulos case is unusual as both wealth and power exist and resources were deployed almost immediately by LE with no prodding from the family so far as I've heard. NCPD has resources and the financial means and a Chief smart enough to raise his hand early to State Crime/FBI and request almost immediate assistance. Most cases don't have these blessings and usually it takes prodding to get LE moving IMO and oftentimes local LE resist asking for resources from outside their jurisdiction.

Please not I'm not in any way attempting to be negative on LE, not at all. The reality though is most departments are stretched thin and the resources to adequately cover a missing case can be consuming as alot of work is needed quickly when the case first breaks and some departments just don't have the resources. MOO

We have the State of CT guide to maps: DEEP: Maps and GIS Data. Will dig up the guide to parks and ponds and post the link but I could have sworn it was placed on the media thread and it was included in a prior thread too. Here is the lake contour info from the State of CT (not all bodies of water are included the the major ones are): https://www.ct.gov/deep/lib/deep/fishing/general_information/LakeBathymetryMaps.pdf Will place these in the media thread for further reference.

Is the media thread the one that says “No discussion”?

I think we all take things differently. I would start by “is it relevant to you...” I absolutely understand that many on this forum are suffering their own personal hell or have gone through things I couldn’t even contemplate.

I just feel like this group of us has continued to press on in spite of zero information and kept our wits about us. And humor. Gallows humor if you will.

I took a walk to another thread (Mackenzie Lueck) some nights ago and I was struck by the lack of cohesion happening. It seemed to be a hot mess. I absolutely identify with wanting to help a victim and wanting it to have a sacred levity because we are talking about a human life extinguished. And the ramifications of that life loss are unimaginable.

Having said that, I can’t quit my gallows humor because it is how I cope. I can’t criticize how the Casey Anthony forum in some ways went to absolute crap because people kept screaming over and over “about the baby” and finding her remains as though months later there would be a child appearing as though she would still look like that in the pictures. Reality was it was bones that wouldn’t even crowd a shoebox.

I think everyone is absolutely entitled to take things they way they choose. I just think I can find Justice for Jennifer and not go to some deep dark place. I’ve been there before and it sucks for me and accomplishes nothing.

Back on track: I know everyone said the HLN special was worth watching but did those who actually saw it think that new charges were imminent (by that I mean real soon)? Because I someday hope to meet Keanu Reeves and tell him he was my big crush and I truly believe this will happen, just maybe when we are wheeling around in an assisted living type situation? So charges will be filed much sooner than that??? I hope.

LittleBitty, I found the MacKenzie Lueck thread to be uncomfortable for a number of reasons and decided just to step away from it.

Many participants have not brought out the best in each other, to say the least.

This one and Kelsey Berreth's have been my favorites as there is concern for Jennifer's family and a desire to protect her reputation along with humor and well-constructed theories.

I don't remember this thread ever being shut down for a massive clean-up either. Nice!

The best revenge is to lead a happy life and a good therapist can be a wonderful guide to get you there. No one can permanently steal your joy and I hope you won't allow this creep to succeed at that. May I suggest a first step? Show up at a homeless shelter to volunteer this week-end.
Sorry. Yes. Absolutely someone can steal your joy. Your suggestion to "show up at a homeless shelter" to heal trauma is misguided to say the least. You have zero clue what you are talking about.

Jennifer Dulos case: Legal experts say Fotis TV interview a risky move

Legal experts said reaching out to the media could be a shrewd move for high-profile defendants to influence potential jurors — but also a dangerous one, since it could give prosecutors ammunition to use at trial.
.......
NBC New York’s Sarah Wallace said Dulos’ lawyers “would not let him talk about specifics” during the interview.

That gave Fotis Dulos the opportunity to “soften his image” to potential jurors, said Brittany Paz, a defense lawyer at Shelton-based Ruane Attorneys.

“There really wasn’t much of a downside for him because he didn’t talk about the specifics of the case,” Paz said. “It was coached beforehand. Norm made sure (Fotis) knew what he could and couldn’t say.”

Paz is a former associate of Pattis’ who worked on the high-profile “Manhattan Madam” case of Anna Gristina. She remembers accompanying Gristina to a Los Angeles interview with “Dr. Phil.” Paz said she coached the client about what to talk about during the interview — and what not to.

“This is not uncommon for Norm and Norm has done this before,” she said. “Almost certainly, he told them what not to ask and told Fotis what not to say.”

Very well put @afitzy !!

Marissa Alter

I sat down today with local defense attorney Matthew Maddox, who's been watching the Jennifer Dulos case closely. I wanted to get his insight on Fotis Dulos doing a TV interview with WNBC--something Maddox previously told me he would never allow a client to do. Here's some more insight from him:

"Having a client speak to the media under these circumstances is certainly way out of standard practice. I don't know what the methodology here is."

"There is nothing he gains by going on camera. Of course he's not going to speak about the facts of the case, but his body language, his tone, those non verbal cues. And everyone who watches that program is a member of a potential jury pool which makes me cringe."

"I think that he was too calm, too collected, too calculated in what he wanted to say. The appearance for me and the tone for me was one of almost detachment."

Your comments about Websleuths and it members caused a lump in my throat and a tears in my eyes! I’ve been a member since 2004 and I agree, as another member said, of all the cases I’ve followed, this case has one of the most caring, intelligent, interesting, professionals I’ve seen.

Some of you “old timers” may remember Katycoolady from Laci Peterson’s Case. Thanks to WS, she and many others and I met at WS and have become very good friends.

Since the Laci Peterson case, and because she was/is a victim herself (her sister was murdered by her husband on Xmas Eve), she has been a Victims Advocate for several families who have had family members murdered.

She has gone to court with, for, and to support them, including Travis Alexander’s Family. I know WS played a huge part in her becoming a VA.

I am a member of a few other websites that follow and comment on cases in the news. But there is definitely nothing like WS. I am so proud to be a member and amongst so many caring, intelligent and professional members!

ITA! I remember a highly successful romance novelist (meaning someone y’all would all recognize) getting crap on the Casey Anthony board and I am soooooo glad this forum is working through things together. I realize once charges for murder are filed and they will be (MOO) there will be stuff that goes off the rails but I think we have a very solid core group!
