“It is my understanding and belief these were old friends who developed a friendship years ago at work and out of loyalty to that friendship she has assisted Mr. Dulos,” attorney Norm Pattis said. “We should all be lucky enough to have such a loyal friend.”

North Carolina woman paid $147,000 to help Fotis Dulos post his bond

And here we have proof that just because someone has brains, it does not automatically come with an emotional intelligence quota.

Kudos to Dave Altimari at HC for using FOIA to do some investigative work and figure out how Fd was able to post bond:

Fotis Dulos was able to post the $6 million bond after he was arrested for the murder of his estranged wife because Anna Curry, a North Carolina woman, contributed $147,000 in cash and promised to pay another $272,000 more, according to records obtained by the Courant.

The bond became a critical issue this week when it became the subject of an emergency court hearing Tuesday. Instead of going to the hearing Tuesday -- and possibly being sent back to jail if his bail was revoked -- Dulos attempted suicide at his Farmington home, setting off a chaotic sequence of events.

The state had sought to revoke the bond because the Palmetto Surety Company, which secured it, was now saying it no longer would do so because the collateral used to secure it wasn’t sufficient. Palmetto underwrote the bond with six pieces of real estate – but two of them, including the Jefferson Crossing home – are in foreclosure and a third is significantly overvalued.

Dulos referred to Curry, a former co-worker of Dulos at a New York financial firm, as his “best friend” in the bond documents. Curry signed a $3 million promissory note and was one of two indemnitors listed on the documents. The other is a high profile private investigator from Fairfield County who initially was hired by Dulos’ lawyers. The bond package has since been questioned by the South Carolina insurance company that initially underwrote it.

Curry, 42, was present at Dulos’ Jefferson Crossing home on Tuesday when Dulos was supposed to be heading to the Stamford hearing. Dulos faced the prospect of a judge revoking his bond because the South Carolina surety company that initially underwrote it was now questioning whether the collateral to support it was fraudulent and was threatening not to return the initial cash payment by Curry.

Sources said that Curry left Jefferson Crossing to run some errands sometime before 10:30 a.m, and when she returned shortly before noon Farmington police were already on the scene attempting to revive a nearly lifeless Dulos. She was interviewed by Farmington police as part of their investigation into Dulos’ suicide attempt.

“It is my understanding and belief these were old friends who developed a friendship years ago at work and out of loyalty to that friendship she has assisted Mr. Dulos,” attorney Norm Pattis said. “We should all be lucky enough to have such a loyal friend.”

Dulos was clinging to life at the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx on Wednesday in “dire” condition, according to Pattis. At a court hearing Wednesday the issue of possibly revoking the $6 million bond wasn’t raised. Judge Gary White said that he would take up the issue if Dulos is ever able to attend court again.

Records obtained by the Courant through a Freedom of Information request to the state Department of Banking show that on January 9 Curry wrote two checks totaling $147,000 to pay the bail bondsman his fee on the $6 million bond. Dulos wrote a check for $1,000, records show.

The checks were made out to 24/7 Bail Bonds LLC, the bail bond company that handled the bond. In order to get bonded out a defendant must post 7% of the bond in cash. With a $6 million bond, Dulos needed $420,000 in cash to get out.

Curry also agreed to pay the balance of $272,150 in 15 installments on the 9th of every month until April of 2021, records show.

Among the other documents submitted as part of the bond package was a form filled out by Dulos listing his personal information from how many children he has to his occupation. On one line under “best friend” Dulos wrote Curry’s name along with her contact information.

Dulos listed that he worked at Capgemini, a New York technical consulting firm, for several years in the early 2000′s at the same time that Curry was working there, according to her LinkedIn profile. Sources said she has been supporting Dulos behind the scenes for several months, although she has never appeared in court with him.

Curry is a financial advisor now living in North Carolina.

Curry also signed a promissory note of $3 million to the Palmetto Surety Corporation, the company that initially insured the bond, records show. She is the only indemnitor listed on that note, records show.

However, there is a second indemnitor Patrick McKenna, a well-known private investigator in Connecticut. Records show that McKenna agreed to be an indemnitor on January 16. McKenna was hired by Pattis to work on the Dulos case over the summer. McKenna declined to comment Wednesday.

For now, with Dulos hospitalized and near death, the bond revocation hearing has been postponed. It is unclear if Curry will ever get her money back.

Attorney Norm Pattis said that if a bond hearing is held he will argue it is a dispute between the bondsman and the insurance company and not Dulos’ fault or issue. Pattis has lined up a New York bondsman Ira Judelson to assume the bond.

I'm not understanding Atty. P.'s argument here as the properties were in foreclosure and 4Jx is subject of litigation regarding ownership. Atty. P. word salad today about title insurance seemed design IMO to confuse and I'm not sure the NY bonds person can do with limited collateral available to pledge. It seems like this deal got done with the cash and friend signature on $3 million note.

Thanks for catching that. I’m confused.
He’s either near death, on life support, unlikely to survive or on a psych hold? Which is it?

Well, that can get complicated. When we have someone unresponsive after suicide attempt in ICU, we usually do not initiate a psych hold at that time as the person can't really get up and leave in their current condition. We initiate it once they are responsive and extubated. Our psych holds in Colorado are for 72 hours. A 72 hour cannot be followed by another 72 hour hold and requires us to initiate a Short Term Certification, which lasts 90 days and can impact patients future lives. So we try to not put psych hold on right when they come in in dire condition. However, sometimes ED docs etc put it on right away, which is out of our control. I hope i am making sense. Long day...o_O

Wow. This is going to take me a moment to wrap my mind around.

She posted a substantial amount of money for him, with the promise to put up more. But his bond package was considered inadequate and fraudulent so an emergency hearing was called.

So, while the woman who put up so much money for him was at his house (or at the store), he committed suicide?! And she was left to discover this in shocking way.

Haaaa -- seems FD even left the bondsman holding the bag as his fee (not to be confused with bond collateral at $6mil) was set up on monthly installment plan being paid by the NC financial planner "best friend" of Dulos. This service fee is non-refundable. The friend has reportedly been supporting him for months......

He killed Jennifer.

He involved MT in a horrific crime (not that she is innocent, imo).

He took his "best friend's" money and then killed himself, putting her finances at risk and her well being at risk with the shock of it all.

Yes, you are correct. I do wonder if its because they originally thought he was dead? UCONN Health ambulance I would think could be at 4jx in a matter of minutes. I wonder also if they were in communication with the hospital and were working to stabilise him, thought they lost him, eventually found a pulse and so then requested ambulance. IMO the entire situation was chaotic and I wish we had all the scanner chatter to see what exactly was being said when as the timeline is a bit atypical as you would have expected the ambulances to be on site almost immediately.

Glad it's not just me then. Whether to call or not is not their decision to make - CPR has a protocol & calling 911 is what you do immediately, especially if there's more than 1 person on the scene to help. I don't know what their police have available for resuscitation (defibrillator/drugs/O2?) & what they're trained to do but 30 minutes (if that's a correct time) seems excessive unless you're in the middle of nowhere.

Imo, he did this because he knew his bond would likely be revoked, and would be going to jail.

He is a raging narcissistic controller, and he wanted to control even this as to when he would end his life, and how he chose to do it.

I hope he pulls through to face justice.

I detest vile murderers like him taking the cowardly way out. He needs to man up. No one is to blame for the situation he's in, but himself.

Imo, It does show how he is really a yellow bellied coward when it comes to himself.

Jmho
To me he did it’s someone said earlier because he had lost it all, business, bond money, kids, ex wife, potential wife, reputation. Quite frankly that’s a lot of mental stress. Not to forget the public who didn’t think he should go to trial to waste public’s hard earned money as they had presumed him guilty without seeing actual bloody pillow, bra, Jennifer’s bloody shirt, garage pictures with quarter size blood, some blood splatters that were not visible to naked eye unless there was close inspection. Clearly nanny and cleaning lady missed it. I wish they had never met and wouldn’t have put kids through this. <modsnip>

Will the bondsman go after the best friend for payment? She did agree to the payment schedule, on the 9th of every month until April 2021.

Bummer for her.

I know what you mean but she is still employed by Fatbers and receives her paycheck by the farbers. Just like the girl who killed mama dulos while fotis was in Europe. Jennifer was home but never once she filed police report? Hospital had to call the cops. Obviously fotis was told by Jennifer. If my mother in law was hit by my nanny’s car while my husband was away you bet your bottoms I’ll call the cops. FD trusted whatever his then beloved wife told him.
To me this family has dirty money and dirty laundry, every one is in need of psychiatric help. Gloria tried to kill her husband HF and tried to commit suicide. Please google it. JD was seeing a psychiatrist and was on pills. Both of their divorce and records were sealed as soon as defendant brought them up.Now FD had a mental breakdown and tried to commit suicide. This shows money is the root cause of all evil. Money doesn’t give you happiness but can sure bring you misery.

Your post is not accurate.

It is not known whether that the nanny is still employed by the Farbers or 'receives a check' from them.

The hospital didn't call the cops after Mama Dulos was run over by the nanny. The cops called for the ambulance after they got there, in fact.

Jennifer was not home when she was run over, either.

So much wrong with your post. You need to read up on this - it's been posted several times on several threads, please do a search for it.

Also, if you want to state an opinion, that's fine, but WS frowns upon statements made as if they are facts - especially when they are easily proven to be untrue.
