Weinstein's complaint says it was paid to P&S (LLC), then distributed to NP. So IMO it was NP's income. So I wonder if he made an estimated payment on the windfall to both IRS and CT Dept of Rev Svcs. That wd show his intent--as to whether he was going to keep it in escrow to draw from as they earned it, or whether he put it into his own investment right away. I'd guess the latter.
A week or so after FD died, NP was hired to represent Jose Morales, KM's cellmate. Hmmmm.
And now NP is also making another stab at getting in front of the CT Supreme Court, representing parents who claim that mask wearing in schools is harmful and dangerous to children and present an imminent threat to children's wellbeing.

Lol....I'm betting NP won't report any of that income in 2020.

If necessary, he'll file an amended tax return in 2021 or when reminded by the IRS. :p
Kind of ironic that NP represented Donna Bello in the "Gifting Table" trial here in Connecticut. She was charged with impeding the IRS's ability to determine taxable income and had to serve 6 years in prison. I'm sure he knows better!

That guy (NP) is such a creep

I haven’t. Hmmm. Sounds intriguing. I think Middle Beach is on the shoreline. Do you recommend?
Yes

It was a grisly crime that shocked the seaside town of Madison, CT. But it had turned into a cold case by 2013, when Madison (whose name is a coincidence; he was born in Atlanta) decided to make a documentary for a film school project. That 130 hours of initial footage became the forthcoming “Murder on Middle Beach,” a four-part HBO series directed by Hamburg as he attempts to do what the Madison police force couldn’t: find out who brutally killed his mother, and why.

Thanks!

BUT!! The violation of protective order (#H14H-CR19-0281509-T ) is combined with the assault charge - is that also moved to 3/4/21? Sorry to bother you on that...

I wondered whether NP got the Morales case as a referral from the Public Defender's office--if he's being paid by the state or by Morales directly.

A reader left a comment to the CT News Junkie report on NP's taking the case of the mask-objecting parents, warning about NP's $250k Dulos fee and linking to an article about it.

My 2nd reply to your post. According to following report, NP was "appointed" to represent Morales. That must be as "assigned counsel" or "special public defender." Article says NP was going to apply for full appointment. And KM was Morales' cellmate? Hmmm.

“I’d remind everybody about the presumption of innocence, notwithstanding the tragic and terrifying disappearance of this young baby,” said Norm Pattis, who represented Morales for bond purposes only. However, he might file for full appointment in the next couple of days.

I agree it’s not clear from this language if NP was actually hired by Morales, since Norm sometimes gets appointed in place of a public defender, but most coverage (other than here) uses the term “hired”. See below tweet from Marissa Alter who is always on top of things. Norm may also be using that terminology in interviews to subtly imply otherwise, given the scuffle over FDs payments in the news now. Media coverage of the Morales case has shown NP huddling and conferring with JM’s stepfather and nephew, so it’s possible he’s milking their family to cover the bills. Being KMs cell mate could have something to do with it too obviously. NP seeks out these kinds of gruesome misogynistic cases, so it’s no coincidence.
MOO.

JUST IN: Norm Pattis & Kevin Smith, originally retained just for bond purposes in the Jose Morales murder arrest, are staying on the case. Morales is in court at noon in Milford where he’s expected to plead not guilty to killing his girlfriend Christine Holloway. @News12CT

Just finished watching.
What a dark, twisted story.
Hard to fathom it is real.
My heart breaks for her son.
What a fine young man.
So kind and forgiving to the crazy Aunt.
Thought the father was beyond cold.
So, who did it?
Can't help but think it was the husband.
MOO.

There's a video interview NP did with a Fox61 reporter (after FD's death), where I recall NP saying he couldn't contact KM directly under the RPC (since KM was represented by other counsel), but suggested that if KM contacted him he'd consider representing him.

Oh that is all we need NP back in court.... :o
