State's witness, Christine Roy, State Lab, Forensic Science

Judge asks the witness to speak at a moderate tempo for the interpreter

Did analysis on this case. Retired. Being paid to testify.

Witness says that they do not re-test. Because they don't want to waste the sample.

They refer to presumptive testing as screening.

They use screening tests and confirmatory.

Confirmatory -- immunological test -- detects a protein in human red cells

And another detects human hemoglobin

"Human blood indicated" because it also detects for certain higher primates

Witness says that, when an item came in as KM positive, no further testing was done.

JS objected, vague

Judge says, complex

Witness answered following Judge re-asking the question

I am starting to think we may need an ‘ineffective counsel‘ on the Bingo card? MOO….

Objection! Overruled. :)
The middle bonus box on the card is this image below that I think could be made to cover your astute “ineffective counsel” issue but I’m glad to add “ineffective counsel” too as it’s a very real issue….seems like TP is melting down and his lack of prep is showing! MOO

Striped shirt

Witness identified "area of damage" -- area of damage from neck to hem (they don't speculate on cause of damage)

The defect (hole) in the shirt was from her cutting

Tested positive for human blood (used the protein test)

The bra

Identifying the area of damage at the center front

Screening test for blood was positive, sent it on for DNA, later took a cutting and used a confirmatory test indicating human blood

A jarring morning- going from JS gratuitous focus on size of chocolate bunnies, whether the supervisor ate any Greek birthday cake, and salad ingredients, to showing JFDs blood soaked shirt and bra again.
Jury is not going to have a good lunch today…
