This is what I was thinking. Something just doesn't seem right here. :waitasec:

Yes, because it's well known how open teenagers are with their parents. Especially if they doing something they aren't supposed to be doing.

I heard about this on Cnn. It is so sad. I'm sure there is a lot more to this story. Breaking stories are so hard to comment on. Hopefully the father will find something to relieve the guilt he must feel. Got to do the show see you all soon.

Just read a news article which includes a statement from a woman described as a family friend. She appears to be attempting to defend Tyler's character by stating that he was never intent on committing burglary, but was upset about a fight he had with his aunt earlier that night.

Was upset about a fight he had with his aunt? All right then.

"... but was upset about a fight he had with his aunt earlier that night."
sbm

Well, that's interesting... wonder if the aunt hadn't called the dad, if this would be a diiferent story ? Strange to stalk around outside someones' house in the wee hrs. of the morning , dressed in black, ski mask, and a knife --- if you're intentions are just to argue it out ?
jmo

"Riddled with bullets"? How many bullets would be required to take someone down and call 911? Good grief...whatever happened to shooting someone in the foot or something, to get them down?

I think (hope) it's clear from my posts that I am not a fan of killing people, not even criminals.

But (a) it's not that easy to hit a foot or a knee; and (b) shooting someone in the foot may not keep him from stabbing you with a knife, bludgeoning you with a club and certainly not from getting off a lethal shot of his own.

I believe the advice is "if you shoot, shoot to kill with maximum damage."

It's only in the movies that gunslingers shoot guns out of villains' hands.

(OT but a similar principle is involved in police shootings: once anybody fires, EVERYBODY on the force fires. So you get an armed teenager shot 40 times; it may seem excessive, but cops would die if they stood around deciding who was going to actually pull the trigger.)

I've had fights with my beloved aunts before. I did NOT put on black clothes and a ski mask, grab a knife and attempt to break into their homes.

This new info does not make Tyler look better, imo.

He probably didnt say dad its me because he was probably getting ready to kill his aunt and was caught. Maybe he thought he could run and no one would know it was him.

Very good point, Nova.
Also, re: the BBM, most LEOs carry high-capacity automatics nowadays, not 6-shot revolvers.

When police officers arrived, Tyler was lying dead in the driveway with a knife in his hand, and his father, in a T-shirt and shorts, was sitting on the grass. Detectives informed the elder Giuliano several hours later that he had shot his son, Vance said.

bbm, I wonder if this is true and if so does it mean that in those several hours that the father never checked on tyler to verify he was in the house and asleep? very confusing.

He could have been taken to a police station for questioning during that time (assuming it's even true, since other articles say police pulled the mask off and that is when he found out).

More info. The teacher and his wife adopted both Tyler and his older sister.

"Giuliano and his wife adopted Tyler and his sister about four years ago. The children’s biological father was heading to prison, and the children would have gone into an orphanage if the couple, who had three other children, had not adopted them, Zingaro said."

I agree, actually we agree. Seems sleuthing is contagious and now my fiance is picking up on hinky stories too. He is the one who pointed out that there must be a lot more to this (local) story. From the time we heard the report. He actually kept urging me to post it here over the weekend so that "websleuths can work on it". ( I did under crimes in the news)

Something is not right here.

I live quite near New Fairfield,CT ( maybe 10 mins away) and there seems to be a great deal being said in MSM and news papers etc...about - How great all these people are" great teacher....great kid...great family" to me...maybe " too much" "too great?"seems like myth building.
guns and knives??? hmmm JMoo

Very confusing.

"(MINOR NAME CHILD) a 14-year-old friend, said he and Tyler were playing an online game called Minecraft while talking and laughing together via Skype until about 10 p.m. Wednesday, when Tyler said he had to go to bed. Brett said Tyler wasn’t in any trouble that he knew of, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“Same old Tyler. He was perfectly fine,” Brett said. “He didn’t really leave any evidence, any hints towards what he would do.”

what happened then????

The father....""He confronted someone in a ski mask and opened fire when the person came at him with something shiny in his hand, police said.

So the Dad, was sitting on the grass, while the ( unknown ?)masked knife wielding- burgler ( who is the size of the 15 year old youth) lay dead in the driveway?

But was not ...informed by detectives until "several hours later?"

Keep in mind- folks:
there are a lot of CT residents who have gotten gun permits since the Cheshire Home Invasion case. That case freaked us all out!

I just don't understand this case at all.

If you see someone in a dark, with a mask on, I don't think you are going to measure them for size.
I don't see anything strange in that he would be sitting waiting for police to show up afterwards. What would someone expect him to do?
Now, police have killed quite a few people with objects in their hands, so the idea that if the Giulianos called police and waited, everything would have been fine, doesn't hold water.

I was not suggesting that -sizing someone up in the dark during the "invasion"/ burglary/prank...I was thinking about the time during the after math, after the shooting.

The "masked invader "had multiple gun shots, was lying in the driveway"...and was ( hours) later he was told it was his son? I don't know I guess shock?? maybe denial can explain it.

:-(

questions remain:updated

I wonder where was everyone else was 4 other kids etc during that time?
New Milford is pretty quiet , I would imagine the entire neighborhood heard it???
