I would have called LE and my husband's family, too.
My husband is ALWAYS home by 6. If he is not home by 7 and i can't reach him, I start my rounds. His brother. His employees. His friends. I would not have waited until 1:30 AM to call LE. JMO
I can understand if he was always very punctual and his wife always knew where he was. However, that appears not to be true in this case if she didn't know he was at the hotel, or why he was there, and it is difficult to imagine this was the first time he had been there, or somewhere she didn't know where he was. What is also missing though is how many times she tried to contact him and who else she tried to contact before calling LE. If she was totally in the dark regarding his activities, my sympathies go out to her. I can't imagine.

MOO

OT but my husband was gone once from early morning (on a Sunday) and not home by 10pm, not answering calls or texts. So I finally called police non-emergency number and they checked records for accidents, even found one with his type and color of car but not a plate match. They were really helpful. But I never would have contacted his parents, unless he was gone into the next day.

Anyway...he showed up around midnight...was playing cards at casino for 14 hours...we are separated now...(not for that incident but anyway...).

If my husband told me he would be home in an hour and did not come home and I was unable to contact him I would most definitely call the police and all of his family. I am beginning to think this will be a cold case.

Totally agree with you about the LGBT comment, one has to wonder who made that post. How inappropriate.

I've spent the last few days reading up on this case, and wow...it reads like a true life version of a movie or "who done it" TV show, which is sad.
RIP David.
I hope this gets solved.

Having a secret life (we don't know that he did, but it's easy to think he did) doesn't preclude someone from being punctual or returning family phone calls. We don't have enough details to know why he was at the hotel. I mean, a spouse can do all kinds of things that their partner has no clue about. It's easier to do that if you are *cough* true to your word in other respects. I mean, if he was known to keep his word about things like IF it was he who texted his wife saying he'd be home in an hour and he was always punctual. And if he was always punctual, his family would assume something was wrong if he wasn't home when he said he would be in addition to no one being able to contact him. That there is a perfect reason for family to fly out immediately. Hmm, not always expressing myself clearly.

A spouse can be doing all kinds of wrong, but if family and friends only know him or her to always keep their word that would be even more of a reason to for them worry right away.

I still don't know why nothing is being said about where he spent Sunday night.

Is it possible that they were both home on Sunday night and she answered the question literally:
"I last saw him when we went to bed Sunday night, on weekday mornings he's always left for work before I wake up; so the last time I saw him was Sunday night."

???

Thinking about the outfit, why would you bulk up like that against the cold, as the impression given may be, then wear thin gloves that don't bulk up your hands?

Could the POI have had to deal things with keys, phones, etc... that required finer motor skills big gloves would prevent? Doesn't mean much, I guess, but could they have had a car nearby, or taken a taxi and not been seen as such in public besides inside the hotel?

THAT I could understand - that totally makes sense since my DH leaves early, too. :D I didn't know she'd said that, the only thing I remember is her being quoted as saying she'd last seen him Sunday morning before she went to work, but I misunderstood. :blushing:

Actually the initial reports DID note that she last saw him Sunday morning around 9:30am but subsequent reports have stated "time unclear" or "sometime on" or simply "Sunday."

I have no idea when she last saw DM but suggested the literal answer because it seems plausible to me. :)

I don't think he bulked up with clothing. I think he's overweight. Spend time at a ski resort and you'll see that overweight people look just like that in that type of clothing.

I live in Chicago, the winter's are beyond cold. :) That being said, some of my thin winter running gloves are actually warmer than my really expensive North Face gloves.

While that doesn't really provide clarity to your question, it's a fun fact I thought I'd share. :)

Responding on his parents arriving so quickly from Ohio, they probably talked all night with the wife and caught the first flight the next morning. When he didn't show up after texting her he would be home in an hour, they all knew something was wrong. That text was the key. IMO.

There may have had to have been more to explain the panic of their showing up so fast. They seem to have responded to an extreme situation before it was known to be extreme, but I would still wait for that coverage to be confirmed that his family didn't actually show up after poor David's body was discovered, before jumping to conclusions.

Yes. I agree. But in terms of using the bulky coat and pants to disguise their form, if that was indeed the case, as LE who has more footage of the POI seems to think it could possibly be a woman, why would the POI then not go through the trouble of disguising their hands more with bigger gloves? Or were the POI's hands even smaller than the gloves make them look?

With this case anything is possible; heck I've wondered if Mrs M ever dressed up for Halloween as Madea (and her costume & mask were fantastic):

Put Madea in winter wear and you have the POI

Put Madea in winter wear and you have the POI
briefed respectfully

I disagree. His hands are way too big to be the POI, different wrists too if you zoom in on them as the POI blows on their hand and zoom in on the POI's fingers spread out against the wall in the stairwell. POI is shorter, relative to the baggage carts they walk past.

I see your point though :)

I was somewhat being silly; the smooth face and unknown gender of the POI brought Madea to mind (as a man portrays the female Madea)... Someone had earlier speculated that the POI may be part Asian..Put that all together and you get the wife wearing her award winning Madea Halloween costume in the lobby of the Donovan. [emoji12]

I think it may be against TOS to speculate about family members and if it were that easy wouldn't LE have done something by now?

This may be more complicated than what it looks like at face value, if you will, it seems to me, but still very ponderously mysterious.
